The long awaited 10 year book project and publication is now in final editorial review with planned release date scheduled, 1st quarter of 2017.

Insight into the books content,

Our book reads like no other fitness and healthy lifestyle competitor book in the marketplace.

It is loaded with unique personal, fitness consultant and client perspective, relative people stories, etc., self-help tool kits, forms, tables and satire graphic depictions that support each chapter’s unique content and so much more.

These illustrations, stories, lessons learned and teaching points provides the reader with an enjoyable, entertaining and interactive experience while learning consumer and fitness trainer and health consultant wisdom.  And healthy living techniques that can be used to improve quality of life for decades to follow.  In many ways the content was developed and designed to be a timeless fitness and healthy lifestyle book of how to live life to the fullest.  And applicable to all demographics within any environment or culture.

MirrorAthlete has evolved through an exercise science discipline applied within a fitness consulting practice throughout the years.  I’ve taken multiple client and personal lifetime experiences and fitness programming successes and defined, related and applied these things with a very unique perspective understanding Westernized cultural habits and behavioral impact on health.  Our principled fitness and healthy lifestyle doctrine is based on MirrorAthlete® Principled Fitness and healthy lifestyle Philosophy .

The knowledge within this book allows anyone to succeed in creating a customized fitness and healthy habits lifestyle program without the cost of a professional trainer or specialized fitness and health consultant service or products.   The information you need to know is broken down by easy to understand principles, multiple professional citations, consumer safety awareness, client examples, consumer weight loss; strength, endurance and competitive training knowledge and wisdom, to include how to identify physical enhancement fad and scam services and products; medical referral insight and so much more.   And most important how to build a customized fitness and healthy habits lifestyle plan and implement it relative to your lifestyle needs.  Then gets you to the next fitness level naturally if you’d like to take that challenge.

If you lack motivation to break a bad habit, addiction or get started with a basic healthy habits program, or advance your fitness and healthy lifestyle goals, we shown how to overcome low motivation by increasing will power to stay the course.    As you work towards your fitness goal, you’ll do so without worry of applying a restrictive diet plan, or purchase of expensive physical enhancement product, service or gimmick to reduce body fat, build muscle, etc.  We don’t sell hype, only information on how to achieve natural fitness and healthy longevity change results which are backed by hundreds of professional citations and client story examples.

The marketplace is littered with manmade products and services that promise fast results… some appear to work short term, while others don’t work at all and in both cases increase health risk.  In the long run addiction to manmade consumables loaded with unnatural chemicals increase health risk.  Consumers need to know, they don’t have to go the unsafe route to achieve these goals at the expense of health.

We know the marketplace won’t provide consumers the entire health risk picture regarding unhealthy, addictive and dangerous products for good reason.  There’s no money in it for them.  Half truth testimonials that promise quick fitness and health results sell.  The other half truth is man manipulates and injects addictive chemical and genetically engineered ingredients into consumer foods and supplemental products known to cause health problems and as previously stated “not popular selling points.”  We expose these consumer and marketplace truths.

If you’re tired of paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for fitness and diet products and services that don’t work long term, or don’t work at all and tired of being overweight and unfit, look no further.

MirrorAthlete Inc., is uniquely positioned through years of practical and scholastic healthy lifestyle experiences and consulting services which enables us to easily expose these hard to find industrial and marketplace secrets.    It is for good reason these consumer industries hope the majority of you never discover what’s revealed in this book.  Our unique principled philosophy as applied to our K-12 schools and healthy community plans threatens to fundamentally change the fitness, health and medical marketplace supply and demand and profit margins model and governmental organizations.

I personally show how to apply these healthy lifestyle concepts by detailing these 18 Powerful Fitness and Healthy Lifestyle Principles [MirrorAthlete® Principled Fitness and Healthy Lifestyle Philosophy ]These principles provide the building blocks you learn to master in order to customize your own fitness or healthy habits program without breaking the bank or your body.

The book is an interesting, energetic, optimistic and exciting read in itself.  But more so by way of each ending chapter there’s an ongoing personal fitness challenge and personalized message by ‘yours truly’ relative to each chapters content.  By connecting each chapter principle and content dots this way, I further show how MirrorAthlete principled philosophy can also be applied to improve any physical adversity scenario, i.e., illness, disease, limited mobility.  Those with physical and mental adversity challenges can relate and use the same tool box’s provided within the chapters to help advance any desired fitness or health need improvement.  Thereby allowing one to take control of their health and immobility predicament and continue to live life to the fullest in the best way possible.

We ask that you and your friends consider supporting our mission  “Saving a Nation in Pain,” by taking the following actions.   Visit our web site and look for the book publication release date.  Then purchase a book once released. We’d truly appreciate the support to expand our company resources and educational outreach message to put an end to the obesity epidemic plaguing our youth.

Chronic Disease Caused by Consumer Demand

Traveling and enjoying good company keeps a mind and body healthy.  Marc at the Column, Astoria OR.

One of the first articles I wrote in November 2007 was inspired by a network news and publications article titled “Is Cancer in Your Tub?”  What caught my attention were two glycol ether solvents used in everyday household, food and hygiene products.  Also a key ingredient used in anti-freeze.  Well I knew I didn’t want to drink or eat anti-freeze, so this caught my eye.

The thing I didn’t put into perspective back then was how the consumer created a convenience demand in the marketplace.  A choice that continues to make the populous sick and cause disease.  And the best way to bring “you” the reader up to speed is to start from the beginning… 8 years ago.

What exactly are these two solvents and why would an anti-freeze ingredient be in our home cleaners, hygiene and food products?  “Glycol ethers are a group of solvents based on alkyl ethers of ethylene glycol or Propylene Glycol (PG) commonly used in paints and cleaners.  These solvents typically have a higher boiling point, together with the favorable solvent properties of lower-molecular weight ethers and alcohols [Wikipedia 2016].”

AntiFreeze

Note the main Ingredient: ethylene glycol and Warning Label.

Note the main Ingredient: ethylene glycol and Warning Label.

“Ethylene glycol are still used in anti-freeze preparation, household, automotive cleaners, laundry cleaners, etc.  Propylene glycol is also used in many of the same consumer products, such as home cleaners, hair, cosmetics, creams, lotions, soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, pet foods, deodorants, etc. (GoodGuide 2011).”  The list of products containing both glycol ethers is long.

Propylene glycol is also used as a food stabilizer in many processed foods as I’m now more familiar.  And the FDA stands by their PG approval-to-market SAFE for human consumption like tens of thousands of other consumer chemicals.  “The Food and Drug Administration has classified Propylene Glycol as “generally recognized as safe,” which means that it is acceptable for use in flavorings, drugs, and cosmetics, and as a direct food additive. According to the World Health Organization, the acceptable dietary intake of propylene glycol is 25 mg of propylene glycol for every kilogram (kg) of body weight (ATSDR 2015).”

The unique qualities of PG is it “provides unique inherent properties with regard to holding/attracting both water- and oil-based substances.  In food, it is used to retain food color pigments and provide for homogeneous distribution within the mixture.”

IMG_20130405_175029It is also used as a “Solvent and carrier for flavor and color in food and beverage manufacturing processes, for drinks, biscuits, cakes, sweets.  ‘Thickener, clarifier and stabilizer in food and beverage such as beer, salad dressings or baking mixtures (PO/PG 2016).”

PG is also used as the main liquid component of e-cigarettes.  For example, “PG exposure per puff of the Ruyan® e-cigarette.  The cartridge of the Ruyan® e-cigarette contains approximately 1g [or 1000mg’s] of PG, of which 0.9 g is extractable from the pad. The concentration of PG in the mouth from one drag of the Ruyan® e-cigarette (900 mg per cartridge, 300 puffs = 3mg) is 3 mg per mouthful.”

It should also be noted within the report there is an “Inhalational Minimal Risk Levels (MRLs)” citation.   “No MRLs for acute- or chronic-duration inhalation exposure to propylene glycol were derived because data are insufficient.”  And this report also highlights “Carcinogenicity.  Stating ‘There is no evidence that PG is a carcinogen.”

But a “SAFE use” contradiction is also apparent within the same report.  “MRLs of acute- or chronic duration inhalation… data are insufficient (Laugesen 2008).”  Or to better clarify and understand the meaning of this statement, ‘absent of long-term risk data on health’ OR ‘No Evidence for lack of long term data.’

To better relate to the FDA approval process, think about it this way.

NW Nutria

NW Nutria is not used in lab studies and is much more interesting to gander upon than a field mouse.

Most FDA approvals are based on animal studies of relatively short duration.  Whereas the data is extrapolated to make relative to human metabolism, weight, environment, habits, dosage, frequency etc.  One last point to make, we are humans, not rodents.  So one must ask… how relevant are these studies to human DNA and disease?  And how much pressure is there to release and approve a new product to market?   And once released don’t industries have something to loose should an approved SAFE chemical be recalled from the marketplace?  The answers to these questions are economically and politically by design and connected.  The short of it is, It’s all about special interest power, control and money!

To date, I was curious to see if GP was removed, banned or listed as a health risk on any consumer product.  Of course I wasn’t surprised to find anything of the kind.  However glycol ethers may be the least of consumer product toxin worries.

Prior to reading that November 2007 publication, consumer safety advocates warned the world years earlier of carcinogenic household items.      For instance,  On February 23 a “1998 CBS’s morning talk show, ‘This Morning’ reported the findings of a study from the US Department of Health and Human Services’ National Toxicology Program that sent shock waves throughout the cosmetics and personal care products industries.”

Personal hygiene should be replaced with green products to reduce health risk associated accumulative daily toxin uptake.

Personal hygiene and home cleaners can be replaced with green products to reduce health risk associated with daily toxin uptake.

Fast forward… the moment of truth, our everyday household items have carcinogenic toxins as exposed by various laboratory controlled studies.  They “confirm serious health issues with long term use of our FDA Qualified “SAFE” products! (Young 2011).”  [Shocker?  Not at all.  Simply look at the billions of dollars industries spend and profits made.  Changing profitable industry culture course is an act of God.]

During 2007 I also procured brochures from author Debra Lynn Dadd, “Please Protect Yourself from Household Toxics.”  I handed them out to clients for consumer safety information and audit of household products.

Clients audited bathroom and laundry cabinets. They replace all cleaning and hygiene products with natural/organic products.

Clients audited bathroom hygiene and laundry cabinets. They replaced toxic products with natural/organic ones.

I recommended they audit and remove the toxic products and go green.  And advised them to keep diaries of certain medical symptoms which had abated after removal of certain toxic products after reading Dadd‘s article.

She stated, “While certain people may be more sensitive than others, and some chemical(s) may bring on reactions only after many years of repeated exposure, I discovered household cleaning and bathing chemicals may bring on reactions only after many years of repeated exposure.”

Many of the home use product(s) that increased certain health risks listed in the brochure were cancer, birth defects, genetic changes, heart disease.  Literally any symptom imaginable both physical and psychological could be linked to a common household product.

“Scientist admit these toxic chemicals can lodge in our endocrine system contributing to thyroid problems, diabetes, weight gain, and infertility.  At greatest risk are fetuses, children, the elderly, and those who are already ill, but these chemicals are threatening the health of everyone, every day (Barry 2013).”

I also cited an AARP Bulletin from May 2008, Vol.49 No. 4, titled “Hazards at Home,” within that original 2007 article by Reed Karaim.  Making similar statements as Debra Lynn Dadd.  Karaim followed in suit, “older people are more likely to have conditions – such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory disease and diabetes.”  Adding to the collective demographic concern “Older people are more like infants and children in their ability to fend off toxic assaults says Sandra Steingraber, the author of Living Downstream:  An Ecologist Looks at Cancer and the Environment.”

What's in your Laundry Room?

What’s in your Laundry Room?

Within the same Bulletin a statement of stern warning is made over the use of home “Cleaners – Chemicals to avoid in cleaners, says McRandle (Paul McRandle, Deputy Editor at the National Geographic Green Guide), run from ammonia, which is known to trigger asthma, elements in chlorine bleach, which is a lung irritant and will kill you if you swallow it, to things like glycol ethers, which are used to dissolve grime and dirt, and can cause nerve damage (Karaim 2008).”

PG is still listed safe by the FDA.  However, I’ve no doubt science will prove the long-term PG health risk effects through e-cig smoker data.  By studying habits of consumption, dose, toxicity and patients presenting similar “cause and effect” symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and disease connections, and discovery commonalities will occur over time.

Convenience does not come without a health risk price.

Convenience does not come without a health risk price.

The most disheartening and overwhelming reality is there are more chemicals used in foods and household products than ever before.  Including expanded use of glycol ethers in foods.  Also “Of the more than 80,000 chemicals currently used in the United States, most haven’t been adequately tested for their effects on human health (NRDC 2016).”

It appears most likely disease is linked to a cocktail of multiple consumer products, not just one.  “Chemicals found in household products may be causing significant increases in cancers, diabetes, obesity and falling fertility, the European Environment Agency has warned. ‘In recent decades, there has been a significant growth in many human diseases and disorders including breast and prostate cancer, male infertility and diabetes. ‘Many scientists think that this growth is connected to the ‘rising levels of exposure’ to mixtures of some chemicals in widespread use (Smith 2012).”

“Some of the most pervasive chemicals are used in plastic products, and are known as “endocrine disruptors.” Convenience food products are bagged, bottled and plastic lined canned containers.

Almost all food and drink containers have varying levels of toxins that leach into consumables.

Almost all food and drink containers have varying levels of toxins that leach into consumables.

“On February 19, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a report co-produced with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), titled: State of the Science of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals.” Concern over the increase of chemical use in convenience foods, household and personal use products.

My takeaway and interpretation of past and current trends, scientific studies and consumer health risk and industrial data; these chemicals are destroying or mutating DNA within cellular structures of endocrine [hormone] and neurological function leading to serious and chronic disease.

“The report suggests a ban of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) may be needed to protect the health of future generations. ‘Health risks include: Non-descended testes in young males, breast cancer in women, prostate cancer in men, developmental effects on the nervous system in children, attention-deficit hyperactivity in children, thyroid cancer (Mercola 2013).”

Marc clearing his Northern CA backwoods property.  Wilderness lifestyle has its perks.  And is as close as I can get to the way the pioneers lived.

“In some ways, our ancestors had it easy. Because they didn’t have chemically treated food and chemically enhanced kitchenware, their diets and cooking practices exposed them to fewer toxic hazards (Breast Cancer Fund 2016).”

Unfortunately Big-Ag, food processors and manufactures see a huge demand for convenience products with chemicals that make our foods smell, and taste and look more appetizing with long storage life.   Including cheap and toxic convenient household and hygiene products.  We’re addicted to all of them.   As long as consumer convenience demand and profits are high and long term health risk is not connected to an FDA approved SAFE chemical… the toxic environmental uptake and increase of insidious disease won’t be in decline anytime soon.

Nothing has changed much after years of health risk warnings from consumer safety advocates, epidemiologists and independent lab studies, etc.   Chemicals used in products are on the rise and so is disease.

Big Ag-Corps may appear green. Health conscious consumers should qualify... was the product produced by a certified organic farm?

Big Ag-Corps may appear green.  Health conscious consumers should seek to qualify the quality of product on labels… I.e., was the product produced by a certified organic farm?

The big winners are Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Big-Ag and Health Care industries.  To include a plethora of consumer product and processor manufactures.  Why do I list Health care services and Big-Pharm industries?

Treating acute and chronic disease is big business.  Cures are not.

“If it’s not about the money, what is it?”  I’d say it’s 2-fold.  Customers need and want lower cost and convenience products.  And industries are more than happy to continue providing profitable and cheap product that meet demand.

Until consumer demand changes to provide healthier products for you and your family, there are things you can do to reduce household and environmental toxins.

Recommendations,

What can you do to protect your family?

What can I say. I like sponge Bob. But this ones not made out of plastic toxins.

What can I say. I like sponge Bob. Although not made out of plastic toxins… it is likely made of a percentage of synthetic materials with toxins.

1   Don’t give plastic toys to small children unless marked BPA or Phthalates free.  “On October 15, 2007, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law AB 1108 (also known as the California Toxic Toys Bill), making California the first state in the country to ban the use of phthalates from children’s products (West 2016).”

2   Eat less processed and convenience foods and consume more whole foods.

3   Purchase organic ‘green’ home cleaners, cosmetics and personal hygiene products.

4   Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) e.g. gloves, mask, boots, hoodie, pants, long sleeve shirts, apron when using non-green cleaning products.

5   Read food, home cleaning products and hygiene labels – if you can’t pronounce the ingredients, it’s most likely a chemical preservative, additive, stabilizer, dye, solvent, etc., of varying toxic quality.  Go Green and Organic as often as possible and available.

Purchase green-organic when possible..

Purchase natural/organic when possible..

6   Don’t consume the same drinks and foods every day, especially convenience and fast foods.

7   Consume plenty of fruits, vegetable and water.

8.  Infrequently purchase water, juice, sodas and foods stored in plastics and cans.  Glass is the best container to store foods and drinks.

9   Check dates of frozen foods and use within a 30 day window.

10  Vent and circulate fresh outdoor air throughout the home by leaving windows cracked ¼” open.  Clean HVAC systems and ductwork per manufacturer recommendation.

11  Become a conscientious consumer safety advocate and practitioner and family educator of green/natural products.

12  Become a voice and vote.  Use your 1st Amendment rights to petition government and special interests to win voter-consumer choice.  Be an advocate, or support to ban or remove certain toxic ingredients from consumer goods and services.  Or call for label laws that inform shoppers ingredients known to cause cancer and other chronic disease.

Conclusion,

If consumers don’t demand the marketplace change; then realize cost and convenience has greater value to a majority populace than long term health risk.   With this reality and without consumer and health risk prevention education in our K-12 schools, it should be no surprise new generations don’t value healthy lifestyle.  While disease and health care costs continue to rise.

We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Bacterial Gut Disease Connected to Engineered Crop Foods

24 03 2016

Last Update:  25 May 2016

IMG_0204[1]

As one day sets a new one begins. How will you begin a healthy lifestyle plan?

Did you know that your digestive system is at risk of illness, disease and autoimmune disorders when your bacterial colonies are out of balance?

When the good bacteria are overridden by the bad ones, they override the good and begin to produce toxins and destroy tissue by feeding on it. The good bacteria is also known as probiotics. Probiotics are friendly bacteria that live in the gut and intestines and act to crowd out unfavorable pathogens, such as yeasts and toxic bacteria that may otherwise cause ill-health. Probiotics are naturally found in the body. You can also find them in foods and supplements.

IMG_0127[1]

Good eats are okay for infrequent indulgences. But to do so daily will reap havoc on the intestinal gut system.

“Our lower intestine requires at least 85% of friendly bacterial colonies to fight off micro-organisms like E. coli and salmonella.” “Poor eating habits, chlorinated drinking water, stress, use of antibiotics, medical treatments can destroy the gastrointestinal micro flora and allow harmful bacteria to multiply. Thus, make the body susceptible to yeast and bacterial infection and other disorders including gas, cramping, or diarrhea (Gupta 2009).” Our colon can maintain health with a 15% balance of bad bacteria. However most people have these percentages reversed.

Within developing countries resistive bacteria to anti-biotics appears to be evolving through engineered foods. Big agriculture now produces most of our food crops and livestock feed from GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) seed. And those seeds are DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) engineered to produce crops that kill pests and thrive through a deluge of chemical spray that otherwise kill everything else around it.

IMG_20111229_163438Today most commercial crop seeds are genetically engineered and farmed in a lab. Whereas the DNA has been modified to produce perfect fruit and vegetables with little sign of imperfection. And at some molecular and insidious level appear to be incompatible with our DNA and gut bacterial balance. The focus here is to examine how GMO foods may have an overall negative effect on bacterial gut and intestinal health. And how our bodies are less resistive to bad bacteria causing ill-health problems.

It is important to understand how GMO food and anti-biotic treatment relates to gut and intestinal health.

When our immune systems become weak, or ravaged with infection often patients use, or request anti-biotics for the wrong pathogenic problem. Or patients save them from a previous prescription to self-treat without doctor approval. In these cases the patient doesn’t understand how improper use of antibiotics may harm them.

For example, if you have a virus i.e., cold, flu, sore throat, bronchitis, and other sinus and ear infection, we often request anti-biotic medicine from a doctor. But treating a virus with an anti-biotic may cause more harm than good.  Overuse of the drug is known to cause a resistance to them; thereby rendering an ineffective fight against infection.

Talk to your doctor about the differences between virus vs. bacterial illness and disease and proper drug treatment options. The point here, don’t take anti-biotics unless you need them.

Some of the foods you consume have modified DNA resistant bacterial organisms that appear to cause resistance to anti-biotic drugs. And when taking antibiotics unnecessarily increases bacterial bug resistance to the medication. And if you ever need a lifesaving anti-biotic, that super bug may be immune to it.

Epidemiological medical evidence shows increasing evidence of resistance to antibiotic treatment in developed countries. The common cause denominator? Big-Ag within developed countries use GMO crop seeds sprayed with thousands of tons of insecticides and herbicides annually which are absorbed into the crops.  Then sold within the marketplace. “Virtually every processed food you encounter at your local supermarket that does not bear the 100% USDA “Certified Organic” label is likely to contain at least one GE [Genetically Engineered] component. If it does not say “100% USDA Organic” on the label, for example, if it says just “organic” or “made with Organic,” it is highly likely it contains GMO product (Haug 2011).  IMG_20130405_175235

GMO seeds produce large crop yields, including crops not fit for human consumption but used to feed livestock and 3rd world countries. The livestock grass, corn and grain feed are also chemically treated and absorbed into livestock through consumption and passed into humans that consume them. These GE foods appear to have an accumulative ill-health effect on the gut and intestinal health, aside from causing immune systems to become resistant to anti-biotics.

Also there is another potential risk associated with GMO crops. Whereas national crop seed shortages could occur if they fail to kill a highly resistive super bug or weed regardless of chemical application used. Nature has a funny way of surviving against all odds. This in genetics is known as survival of the fittest. And super bugs appear to be winning over man’s attempt to keep them at bay.

There are already signs this is occurring. There’s a lot of data that illustrates how it takes significantly more chemicals to kill the super weeds and bugs today because of crop seed DNA genetic manipulation where chemical application is used to boost seed resistance against evolving super bugs and weeds.

If something doesn’t change within our farming practices we may become dependent on other countries to feed us.  Although this may sound far-fetched, it’s not outside the realm of possibility.  How would this be possible? Let’s break down the GMO and anti-biotic resistive gene concept to better understand how a failure of crop yield could cause a disastrous global food bank shortage and health pandemic.

IMG_0953

A super weed is no match for a North Western nutria.

Aside from super bugs and weeds that become resistive to chemical sprays and genetically engineered seeds that fail to be chemically resistant; there is concern over global, or transatlantic plant manipulation and the antibiotic resistive cause and effect on human health. “Antibiotic resistance genes are frequently used at several stages in the creation of genetically engineered plants… ‘Concern has been raised about the possibility that antibiotic resistance genes used to make transgenic plants [or Genetically Modified Plants] could be transferred to microorganisms that inhabit the digestive tracts of humans or other animals that eat them, and therefore might contribute to the already serious problem of antibiotic resistant pathogens (CASA 2016).” Most specifically on a national and/or global scale.

What is the relationship between GMO foods, bacterial balance in the body and illness and disease? “Antibiotic resistance genes from GM foods are taken up by bacteria in the gut during digestion. If bacteria carrying antibiotic resistance genes were ever to cause infection, it would be very difficult for doctors to treat. Until now, however, there is no real proof that the antibiotic resistance genes in GM plants pose a threat. Regardless, as a precautionary measure, some experts say that antibiotic resistance genes should not be used (GMO-Compass 2006).”

IMG_1791

There are reasons why organic farming plots are increasing within city urban and suburban areas.

Recall GMO seeds DNA has been changed to kill insects and survive a deluge of chemical sprays designed to kill weeds, molds and other bad microorganisms detrimental to healthy crop yields. Therefor it makes sense a GM-seed-to-crop food makes it possible for us to become host to a super bug, then untreatable disease becomes more likely. Whereas a medical condition may not be any match against a flesh eating bacteria.

Many believe this has already occurred in the form of any number of bacterial organisms resistive to antibiotic treatment with the potential to cause life-threatening bloodstream infections, pneumonia and surgical site infections. MRSA appears to be such a bacteria. “During the past four decades, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, or MRSA, has evolved from a controllable nuisance into a serious public health concern. MRSA is largely a hospital-acquired infection, in fact, one of the most common. Recently, however, new strains have emerged in the community that are capable of causing severe infections in otherwise healthy people (NIH 2016).”

If you want to know more information on topic simply type into any search engine MRSA, GMO and intestinal bacteria and disease.

To improve bacterial balance within the body the best bacteria to consume is high in flora from raw vegetables and fruits and now in supplementalIMG_20130405_175303 probiotic formulation. “Some probiotic foods date back to ancient times, such as fermented foods and cultured milk products. Interest in probiotics in general has been growing; Americans’ spending on probiotic supplements, for example, nearly tripled from 1994 to 2003 (MedicineNet.com 2016).”

Research continues to explore and find encouraging evidence from specific probiotic formulations that suppress unfriendly bacterial bugs and build healthy gut bug balance. For instance, “In November 2005, a conference that was co-funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and convened by the American Society for Microbiology explored this topic.

According to the conference report, some uses of probiotics for which there is encouraging evidence from studies show how specialized probiotic formulation alleviates the following symptoms: To treat diarrhea (this is the strongest area of evidence, especially for diarrhea from rotavirus). To prevent and treat infections of the urinary tract or female genital tract. To reduce recurrence of bladder cancer. To shorten how long an intestinal infection lasts that is caused by a bacterium called Clostridium difficile. Prevent and manage atopic dermatitis (eczema) in children, etc. (MedicineNet.com 2016).”

Other symptoms supplemental probiotics may help relieve: constipation, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBS), bloat, gas, stomach ulcers, tooth decay, periodontal disease, vaginal infections, skin and respiratory infections that children acquire in daycare, diverticulitis & colitis, etc.  They can also ease chronic yeast infections and enhance immunity through improved digestive absorption function and thereby provide essential nutrients to the body.  Improve lactose intolerance, alleviate flatulence, rejuvenate healthy radiant skin, nails and hair, etc.

Organic flora provides everything needed to keep us healthy.

When a healthy balance of intestinal micro flora, or probiotics is maintained within the body the bad bacteria (or pathogens) are in proper balance and typically improve overall body health. Talk to your naturopath or doctor about the right probiotic formulation to alleviate ill-health symptoms.

Probiotics are also widely used to alleviate Candida [a yeast species] symptoms where formulations vary for a specific application. “Candida syndrome occurs when the normal population of intestinal yeast suddenly explodes. Overgrowth of one species of yeast called Candida Albicans supposedly causes candida syndrome, which is characterized by chronic fatigue, weight gain, a white coating on the tongue and joint pain.

Taking probiotics such as Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Lactobacillus Casei GG and bifidobacteria creates a hostile environment for candida yeast, returning your gut yeast population to normal levels (Adams 2013).

Research and medical data shows a complex and complicated connection relative to gut-intestinal health, anti-biotic resistance and pre-probiotic treatment [discussed below], engineered food crops and illness and disease.  But there is no doubt there is a connection.

The following recommendations should help to provide a healthy bacterial balance within the gut and intestines as a preventative health strategy to alleviate what ails you. It is recommended you consult with your physician prior to applying any of the “How to-s…” listed below.

How to Improve Good Bacterial Gut and Intestine Health

IMG_0197

No doubt about it “Pickles” is going to get some good organic eats.

1. Increase flori balance through probiotic supplementation to include a daily vitamin and mineral (V/M).  Especially if diet alone can’t be radically changed to a healthier one.  In this way you’ll ensure anti-oxidant benefits while maintaining a healthy balance of probiotics to decrease and manage bad bacteria colonies. The best anti-biotic flori products seem to be in capsules, tablets, or powders.

These three supplements: V/M’s, antioxidants and probiotics work in harmony to provide improved nutrient absorption, immune system function and intestinal gut health. You’ll then begin to look and feel better immediately once started. Of course ask your physician which products they’d recommend is right for you.

2. Ask your doctor about a prebiotic which is different than a probiotic. Choosing or guessing which probiotic may be right may not be the 100% solution to alleviate what ails you. That is “the prebiotic is a specialized plant fiber that beneficially nourishes the good bacteria already in the large bowel or colon. While probiotics introduce good bacteria into the gut, prebiotics act as a fertilizer for the good bacteria that’s already there. They help your good bacteria grow, improving the good-to-bad bacteria ratio. This ratio has been shown to have a direct correlation to your health and overall wellbeing, from your stomach to your brain (Prebiotin 2016).”

3. If your drinking water is heavily chlorinated, filter it or buy bottled water. Chlorine kills good bacteria.

4. Improve your eating habits to receive optimum nutrients and consume less processed foods.  Avoid “overconsumption of yeast-feeding foods such as simple carbohydrates, sugars, peanuts, and alcohol and milk products can encourage Candida growth (Adams 2009).

IMG_1784

Walk and talk with company you enjoy.

5. Reduce daily stress through yoga, meditation and low aerobics exercise [walk, bike, low intensity aerobics dance, etc.].

6. Avoid, or lesson dependency of antibiotics as medical treatment when possible or not needed when you have a virus. Antibiotics not only kill the bad bugs, they also take a heavy toll on the good ones. Ask your doctor for natural alternative pre-probiotic supplements and applicable medications.

7. Purchase 100% USDA organic foods when possible. Read labels and don’t purchase foods you suspect contain GMO products.

8. Consume more yogurt, fermented and unfermented milk, miso, tempeh, soy beverages, and garlic.

Consumer Plastics and Child-Adult Health Risk

24 02 2016
IMG_1391

Wear protective masks and circulate fresh air into construction work space.

Last Updated:  24 Feb 2016

I know just about everyone has experienced a funky taste when drinking out of a plastic bottle and familiar with odors produced by a new car smell.   Not only should consumers be aware of health risk associated with the plastics we store foods in, but also the off-gases polymer plastics emit from home furnishings, remodeled homes and during construction.

If you’re not aware, virtually all plastics and polymer products have an absorption effect on the body when consumed or when concentrated in the air we breathe.  The two key chemicals from these plastics that leach into stored food, drink containers, or off-gas into our air environment are “Phthalates” (pronounced “thalates”) and “bisphenol A” (BPA).

IMG_0055[1]

Many are unaware new furniture and carpet are made of polymer fibers that off-gas.

Off-gassing of products occur from many types of plastics and rubber compounds and products our comforts have become dependent upon.  A study in 2004 by Silent Spring Institute, Newton, Mass., and Harvard University’s School of Public Health found phthalates in the dust and air of every 120 homes they tested.  This is not so hard to believe since homes are furnished, remodeled and built using a large variety of polymer plastics, synthetic fabrics and solvent compounds of organic and bonded polymer resin blends.

As of 2010 the market was still dominated by high-phthalate materials used in everyday consumer products including but not limited to: medical equipment, pharmaceutical pills, computer technology, food containers, cosmetics, vinyl upholstery, floor tiles and carpet, furniture, drapery, children’s toys, drink bottles, feeding containers, cleaning materials and adhesive compounds etc.

The good news is consumer awareness advocates, medical and health groups, including Centers for Disease, Control and Prevention continue to provide multiple epidemiological data points on phthalates absorption including respiratory concerns which has forced many producers to use non-phthalate plasticizers.  What is a plasticizer?  “Plasticizer is an additive used to make plastic more flexible.  Additives are chemical substances which when incorporated into polymer changes physical and bulk properties (Answers 2016).”  This is necessary because plastics require softening of the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) molecular chain to apply a desirable structural characteristic for a particular application.  This moldable or desired effect is also known as Polymerization of plastic.  This metamorphosis of rubber and plastic is possible by adding identical monomer resins that bond and strengthen a material from its organic petroleum or synthetic materials state (Plastics 2014).  The most widely used polyethylene plastics are within the packaging and plastic bags industries.

IMG_0045[1]

Some plastic containers are high in BPA and Phthalate. See Recommendations at end of article to determine the good from bad.

However the bad news show us how these chemicals can absorb and store themselves within adipose (fat) tissue.  And at some point “can” act as an endocrine disrupter.  “Because phthalate plasticizers are not chemically bound to PVC, they can easily leach and evaporate into food or the atmosphere.”  Stored products within plastic containers high in BPA and Phthalate concentrate are susceptible to this chemical leaching effect.  Especially “fatty foods such as milk, butter, and meats are a major source (Wikipedia 2016).”  As stated, these chemicals can have a negative impact on the endocrine (hormone) systems which are critical to (1) Total body metabolism (2) Growth, and (3) Reproduction.  These substances also appear to have a connection to obesity and diabetes, including any other number of ill-health effects.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) have studied plastics leaching effects on the brains of fetuses, babies and children and determine there is some risk.  Whereas the chemical industry claims BPA poses “no threat” to humans.  However keep in mind both groups have their own interests at stake.  One way to put these opposing views into perspective, consumers simply need to recall a few consumer safety and commission reports on-topic not so long ago.

IMG_0051[1]

Yes their cute and cuddly but not necessarily safe for infants and toddlers.

For instance, “in response to a 1998 Consumer Product Safety Commission request, retailers including Kmart, Sears, Target, Toys “R” Us, and Wal-Mart stopped selling heavily mouthed baby products with phthalates and 7 manufacturers removed the harmful plastic compounds from production.  Recall phthalates found in toys are used as a plastic softener in polyvinyl chloride also known as PVC or vinyl to achieve the desired toy attributes.

Some PVC toys may be labeled with a V or #3 inside the chasing arrows triangle usually located on the bottom of a product.  Most won’t be labeled at all.  Generally, if a toy is a squishy plastic—like rubber duckies and baby dolls—or if it has highly flexible plastic as a component—like the clear pages in child “photo albums,” the clear plastic purses that some girl’s toys are sold in, or the plastic-like “fabric” used on some dolls—you should avoid it or call the manufacturer to ask if the product is made with PVC or phthalates (PBS 2008).

Also the rate of leaching effect of BPA into infant formulae from plastic baby bottles is of concern after heating it.  “We found that drinking cold liquids from polycarbonate bottles for just one week increased urinary BPA levels by more than two-thirds.  If you heat those bottles, as is the case with baby bottles, we would expect the levels to be considerably higher. This would be of concern since infants may be particularly susceptible to BPA’s endocrine-disrupting potential,” said Karin B. Michel’s, associate professor of epidemiology at HSPH and Harvard Medical School and senior author of the study (Harvard T.H. Chan 2009).

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention “show BPA is present in humans at levels found harmful in laboratory studies!”  Since BPA and Phthalates absorption and respiratory contact appear to be unavoidable in developed countries there are some preventative measures consumers can take to reduce exposure.

To mitigate health risk of plastics, rubber and sealant polymer materials made with “Phthalates” and “bisphenol A” (BPA) chemicals, the following preventative and proactive measures will help.

Recommendations:

-Baby bottles – Select bottles made from glass or a safe non-polycarbonate plastic.

-Avoid washing plastic dishware with harsh dish soap and hot water.

-Find “PVC-free” on the labels of soft plastic toys and tethers.  Choose wooden toys as another option.

IMG_0054[1]

Almost all plastic drinking containers are marked to show a plastics grade quality.

-Do not purchase plastic containers with “PC” stamp. Or plastics numbered, #3, #7.

-Choose plastics, #1, 2, or #5 in the recycle triangle.  Do not heat beverages in plastic containers.

-BPA can leach from metal cans lined with polymers.  Buy all baby food products in glass containers.  Use canned and bottled plastics food and drinks well before expiration date.

-Choose metal utensils, enamel, or ceramic plates for feeding that are also microwave safe.

-Avoid foods wrapped in plastics, such as meats and cheeses.  Buy deli products wrapped in paper.  Use stainless steel and glass drinking containers.

Plastic food wraps are used extensively to sell all kinds of fresh food products.

-Ensure home ventilation systems are clean and 10% outdoor air intake is circulated into the home or business environment.  For example, I have two windows in my house I leave open approximately 2 inches 24×7.  One on the lower and upper floor.  This reduces off-gas concentrations of home polymer plastic chemicals off-gassing within home environment.

-Consider buying used as opposed to new car.  Or keep windows down a quarter inch to remove new car smell when parked or driving.

IMG_0042[1]

Solvent and glue petroleum based products are essential to the home remodel and construction industries and off-gas chemicals.

-When using caulking, glues or installing new carpet, floor tile, siding or concrete pad ensure outdoor air circulation is abundant.  Then aerate space adequately during cure times.  Then get into the practice of the open window concept previously mentioned.

Doomed to Get Cancer

22 02 2015

IMG_20120517_174946Originally Published: May 1, 2008, Updated:  Feb 22, 2015

It is a fact that environmental toxic agents, poor dietary and exercise habits and poor consumer choices can cause cell mutation that may lead to the formation of cancerous tumors.   It is also a fact, cancer mortality rates throughout the globe have increased over the last decade. “7.6 million People died of cancer in the world during 2007.  13% of all deaths are due to cancer (American Cancer Society).”   And since then, cancer cases have risen globally.

Unfortunately “Cancer is among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with approximately 14 million new cases and 8.2 million cancer related deaths in 2012 [World Health Organization, 2015].”

Are we all doomed to get cancer?  The risk of getting cancer is greatly reduced if one learns to pay attention to environment, lifestyle and consumer safety information and applies good lifestyle practices.

What do I believe is causing this increased rate?  I believe it has a lot to do with the lack of consumer safety and healthy habit lifestyle practices and environment awareness knowledge and education.

And since cancer cells can take many years to mutate and change into cancerous ones; none of us have any ideal, or believe this could occur within our bodies.  Or most don’t consider the possibilities of getting cancer, therefore don’t take the environmental and lifestyle risk factors seriously.  So lifestyle and environment don’t change until illness and disease have taken their course.

How do we get cancer?  There are many possible carcinogenic agents and toxins hidden within our environment and foods.  One must also consider genetic predisposition possibilities [does cancer run in the family].   If a biological family member has had cancer, suspect your body is more susceptible and sensitive  to similar types of cancer causing agents.  Also a neighbor who was born and raised in the same environment and without a history of cancer in the family will likely not be as sensitive to the agents that effect your family.  But this does not mean they are immune to cancer.

The American Cancer Society defines cancer as a disease which differs widely in cause and biology.  There are approximately 9 risk factors leading to cancer:IMG_0279  Tobacco smoking, alcohol, diets low in fruit and vegetables, limited physical exercise, unsafe sex, urban air pollution, domestic use of solid fuels and contaminated injections (Hep B & C).

Once cancerous tumors form they continue to grow and divide at a cellular level [metastasis].   Which can spread through the immune-lymph and circulatory blood systems, etc.  Tumors once malignantly formed, effect other healthy cells surrounding them.  Whereas these cancerous cells have the ability to target other tissues and organs throughout the body, spread and infect, grow and further divide.

Unless medical treatment is received in a timely manner to stop a malignant growth, spread and further cellular mutation, remission may not be possible.  It is for this reason, if diagnosed with Stage 2-3 cancer, it becomes very risky to put off proven cancer treatment that offers the best odds at survival and puts cancer into remission.  Opposed to trying new and untested treatments.  Once cancer reaches stage 4, the odds of remission and survival are greatly reduced even when conventional treatment is applied.

Our body is a filter and is capable of removing many toxins through our lymphatic system including carcinogenic agents.  This system has 3 basic functions.  1)  To clean the blood and remove waste from the body.  2)  It absorbs and transports fatty acids from the intestine and digestive system.  3) The lymph node cells called lymphocytes provide immunological defenses against disease-causing agents. When you increase cancer risk factors these lymphatic and circulatory filter system(s) become less functionally efficient.

And if unhealthy lifestyle, habits and/or environment don’t change within a period of time, the spread of cancer and tumor growth becomes more likely.   By unnecessarily exposing oneself to poor diet and unhealthy environment or continued bad habits and behavior, toxins in the body increase in concentration.   And these toxins may not cause cancer, but something worse.  For example, acute to chronic body-brain neurological, circulatory, and/or respiratory, etc., illness and disease.

How to Reduce Cancer Risk

  1. Obesity increases risk of developing cancer.  Reduce body weight through diet and exercise. See a doctor to help you lose weight and control diabetes.1390168824371
  2. Reduce refined sugars, excessive fats and reduce carbohydrates.  Increase plant based foods in diet to decrease risk of prostate and breast cancer (men/women).
  3. Studies have linked stomach cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer and pancreatic cancer with “any” grilled meat and/or overconsumption of red meats.  Ingestion of meats alone is not the only problem.  Carcinogens are also released through the burning of the aromatic hydrocarbon which often occurs when you overheat and burn fats, fryDSC01339 and sauté oils.  Then inhale their carcinogenic burnt smoke fumes.  If you burn your cooking oils, open the windows, exhaust the air and dump the oil.  When burning oil, avoid inhaling the burnt smoke and refresh the oil before cooking.
  4. Cancer trials suggest that vitamin supplementation and/or consumption of fruitsIMG_20130405_175321 and vegetables will reduce cancer risks.  Take a daily vitamin & mineral supplement daily.  Especially if you’re not getting 3-4 servings per day of plant foods.
  5. Give up artificial sweeteners (Aspartame).  Read your food labels carefully.  There are now 6000 food products under various labels that list Aspartame as “other sweetener, sugar substitute and as a healthy sweetener alternative.  Sodas, flavored water, specialized coffee’s, processed baked deserts, candy and even IMG_20130405_175235some diet foods have high concentrates of Aspartame in them.  Be sure to Read MirrorAthlete’s publication, “Aspartame the Silent Killer.” Aspartame in the diet is highly suspect of causing cancer and a known obesity and diabetes causing chemical agent.
  6. If you live in a heavily carbon monoxide or chemical producing environment and/or your city drinking water requires high chemical concentrate treatment [chemical smells & tastes occur often in tap water]; and/or suffer from respiratory problems, consider moving from the area if possible.  If not possible, filter your water, improve indoor air systems and exercise outside on low smog days and exercise indoors on high smog days.  Also don’t burn wood or other heating fuels in unvented or uncirculated room space areas.   Remove toxic home use products and replace with natural cleaning products.
  7. The sun and manmade sources produce UV (Ultraviolet) rays.  These UV rays areDCIM100GOPRO known as electromagnetic radiation.  The sun is our main source of this radiation.  Manmade UV radiation is produced by tanning beds, x-rays and welding torches for example.  Limit exposure to electromagnetic radiation and cover up and use sunscreen to avoid overexposure of the sun’s rays when possible.
  8. Stop smoking and consuming alcohol.
  9. Practice safe sex and never use a shared or unsterilized needles.

The incidence of cancer rises dramatically with age.  And even more so when unhealthy lifestyle, habits, environment and other risk factors are ignored and not practiced.

Disease is Scientifically Linked to Genetic Engineering of Food Crops

23 10 2014

No Matter Where You go the food’s consumed may likely contain GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms) and engineered super sweeteners.

Original Publication 22 Aug 2012, Revised 23 Oct 2014

I remember as a kid our family would plant 100’s of vegetable seeds in mid May on the family farm.  And this annual planting would produce a multitude of organic healthy vegetables for our family meals.

One of our main crops would be sold at the local market.  What we didn’t sell or consume would then be canned as a provisional food source for our family and would mostly last until the next crops were harvested.  But times have definitely changed from when I grew up.

For as long as I can remember the foods farmed by American families were the most nutritious and healthiest throughout the world.  However, that distinguished honor is no longer the case.  A lot of what’s responsible for this decay of our food source has to do with corporate greed.  There are a few conglomerate giants and billionaire moguls that are greatly responsible for this changing global food bank and contributing effect on our genetics and overall health.

Let’s begin this topic by defining a few major players reengineering and manipulating our food banks and how they knowingly mutate our DNA.  Also most consumers don’t know the foods industry is made up of 8-10 major food chain monopolies.  But for the sake of simplicity I’m just going to use a few examples of how this reengineering of foods harms our health to make my point.  In this way you’ll be able to better understand the economic complexity of why it is so hard to unravel and remove harmful food ingredients from our national food supply.

Monsanto has been producing man made GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) crop seeds and chemical food sweeteners (e.g., Aspartame brands: NutraSweet, Spoonful and Equal-Measure) for some time now.  Many food products you consume from your local grocery store now contain these engineered foods.  The likes of Procter & Gamble (P&G) foods corporation is one of the largest producers of products that are petroleum based and comprised of Genetically Modified (GM) crops produced from GMO’s seeds resistant to herbicides and pesticides as was found to be the case in the popular Pringles potato chip product.

P&G has made much news and reaped much criticism of late with regard to house hold products that are now known to have potentially carcinogenic ingredients [i.e., household cleaners, pet foods, cosmetics and personal care products].   To date they have failed to remove these harmful ingredients or failed to list GMO’s contained within our food products.  Also corporations have been criticized for funding anti-labeling attempts to prevent GMO disclosure laws from becoming public knowledge, while also working to weaken Europe’s laws regarding toxins in household products.

Not so long ago, some 800,000 cans of Pringles potato chips had been recalled in Japan because the potatoes used to make the chips had the “gene-altered NewLeafPlus and NewLeaf Y components developed by Monsanto in the vegetables DNA!  This gene altered potato is approved for consumption in the United States but not in Japan!  So one has to wonder, why is the gene altered potato still sold within American markets and not the Japanese markets?  And should this ban mean something to the American people?  I think it should and the proof is in what P&G did next.  The company decided to focus more on its house hold cleaners and beauty products.

They sold its Pringles business to the Diamond Foods Snack Company for $2.35b in 2011.  Then in 2012 the Diamond deal fell apart and the Kellogg Company bought Pringles for $2.7b in cash.

Could it be that P&G and Diamond Foods Snack Company’s didn’t want the consumer backlash?  Could it be that the new shareholder coalition “Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility” and GMO health risk connection is making sense to the 40 plus food companies [i.e., Safeway, Sysco, Whole Foods, Kellogg, Kraft, Heinz, Hershey’s, Starbucks, etc.].    The shareholder coalition message to these companies reports how Monsanto and GE foods are bad for Investors, consumer health and carries too much financial and liability risk.

And now this message has spread to the 8th largest economies in the world!

California now supports mandatory GMO labeling as consumers have supported a Ballot initiative in 2012.  Over 80% of those polls support GMO labeling for consumers.  Since California is the 8th largest economy in the world this initiative if passed would have a dramatic effect on changing consumer packaging and ingredient decisions nation-wide.

“The California Senate rejected on Wednesday a bill that would require labels on genetically-engineered foods. This is the second time in two years that labeling legislation has fallen short in the most populous and agriculturally-productive state.” [RT.com, May 31, 2014]

“Now Colorado and Oregon have ballot measure out to the voters to determine if their states will support the labeling of GMO’s on food ingredients.” [MirrorAthlete, 23 Oct, 2014]

Also in connecting these consumer dots it is interesting to note Monsanto and Procter & Gamble have the same institutional corporate owners.  The top institutional owner of P&G foods is “Warren Buffett’s” Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., holdings, which owns ~$4.9b in P&G stock (NYSE: PG).  Proctor and Gamble current revenues (ttm) are ~$83.68b.  Also as of recent, Bill Gates invested and purchased 500,000 shares of Monsanto Stock (NYSE: MON) and supports the use of GM crop technology.

Warren Buffet also pledged to give away his wealth by donating most of his $44.1 billion to charity, where he recently gave away $1.52 billion to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  So now you can see how these mogul investors keep these man made consumer wheels and profits churning.  It’s very difficult to make change to consumer product laws when windfall profits for investors, employee jobs, market economies and corporate holdings are at stake.  These corporations have billions of dollars to fight consumer safety coalitions.

No matter how much money these corporate and institutional moguls have and/or control, animal studies tell consumers truths about GMO’s and impact on health.

Animal studies now show that Monsanto’s GMO corn is likely linked to organ damage and their Aspartame contributes to diabetes and obesity which they will continue to pay billions to defeat any one that states its harmful to health and prove their case using bias research results.

There are reported toxicity reactions divided by the estimated reporting rate and where scientific studies corroborate that chronic aspartame ingestion and health damage has affected well over one million consumers in the U.S.   This is not so hard to fathom especially when you think of all the sodas and processed foods consumed on an annual basis.  And these artificially sweetened products is one of the primary causes of our diabetes and “near” obesity epidemic in this country.

It is also not well known by consumers Aspartame “Monsanto’s artificial sweetener” is 200 times sweeter than sugar per equivalent volume.  And is also one of the most taste altering addictions that stimulaties consumers taste preference for rich high fat calorie foods.  Science shows us Aspartame products are also responsible for Formaldehyde poisoning!  How’s that?  Aspartame is an unstable chemical when stored (warehousing) too long in warm temperatures, the chemical properties of the artificial sweetener within soda cans for example, converts to another type of dangerous chemical.

Monsanto has contributed greatly to changing our entire food chain by genetically altering many of our food crops DNA molecular structure through GMO technology and super sweetening our foods.

“These GM crops have never before been an integral part of the human or animal diet prior to the mid-latter 20th century.  The health consequences for those who consume GM crop products are currently unknown.  Various scientific animal studies reveal to us that GM livestock feed and processed food ingredients correlate a clear negative impact on the function of the kidneys and liver.  It is more important than ever that more research focuses on the toxicity and mutation these GM crop varieties may have on our vital organs and DNA.

Okay, so then again one must wonder… What does Japan and European countries know that the American people don’t?

The arguments of Monsanto are becoming rather thin and transparent to all and won’t be hid for too much longer as was realized in Japan.  No matter how often a company’s merged and/or sells food brands and/or food businesses…  Once GMO labeling becomes law, there will be no place for these companies to sell their toxic GM and other chemical ingredients!

Looking at Genetically Modified Crops a Little Closer.

GM is an engineered process where a recombinant (genetic recombination) technology uses DNA molecules from different sources to combine and create a new set of genes within our crop seeds.  This is done in order to make our crops more resistant to decay, insects, chemical fertilizers, etc.  In this way farmers can mass produce volumes of what appears to be healthy food for consumer markets.

It’s not just the GMO corn and potatoes that the consumers should be aware of when purchasing product within the local marketplace.  For example, corn is not only available off the husk, but also comes canned, it’s in our cooking oil, processed as corn starch, etc., and products such as cereals and baked snacks (as in seen in our Pringles example) are processed from the same crops which likely have artificial sweetener additives as well!  Let’s not forget about the livestock being fattened up by GM corn feed.  Now you can see how our food and personal use products have been reengineered within our food chain and consumer products.  And to what degree will it cause health problems down the road.

Is it any wonder “Corporate controlled and protected artificial sweetener testing continues at Monsanto, torturing the ethics of academic medicine?” [Prevailing Winds, Issue 1, 1995].   They do so without fear of retribution because the FDA, “our consumer protection agency” turns a blind eye by accepting these manipulated corporate studies as safe consumer products.  [US Congressional Record, Volume 131, No. 106, August 1, 1985, pages S10826-S10827]

Why is this happening?  Faster, cheaper, better right?  Wrong!  It’s all about corporate, institutional and governmental greed, power and control.  We the consumers are being hit on two fronts:  we are paying the price by slowly losing our good health and paying higher health care costs in the process which is a major contributor and overburden on our health care resources and national debt problems!

I’ve listed the Top GM Food Crops sold in our non-organic food markets that may contain GM foods.  If you want to know more about artificial sweeteners and GMO crops, simply see the referenced links below.

Corn – Monsanto revealed 50% of American sweet farm growers now use GMO seeds that have been modified to create its own insecticide.  Mice studies show when fed with GMO corn, offspring are smaller and there were fertility problems.

Tomatoes – GM tomato seeds prevent the vegetable from easily rotting and have been specifically engineered for longer shelf life.  Some mice fed these tomatoes after a couple of weeks died.

Dairy Products – Monsanto has created a recombinant (genetically modified) bovine growth hormone that’s injected into 22% of our U.S. dairy cows to increase insulin growth factor (IGF-1).  It is warned by scientists that increase in IGF-1 in humans have been associated with colon and breast cancer.

Potatoes – Mice fed potatoes with Bacillus thuringiensis var. Kurstaki Cry 1 had toxins in their bodies.  Although studies show stability of the Cry1 toxin in the mouse gut, there have been studies that show just the opposite results.

Peas – A gene from kidney beans was inserted into the DNA of peas to create a protein that functions as a pesticide.  This GM crop has been found to cause immune responses in mice.  However, it is not known the impacts on human consumption.

Rice – South East Asia’s rice is now GM to contain high levels of vitamin A.  It is not known if rice production in the U.S. in now GM rice varieties with human protein genes to help thwart infant diarrhea in 3rd world countries.  Unknown allergic reactions and other mutated gene transfers are now of a serious public health and environmental concerned as reported by an online journal, China Daily.

Soy – Products that are manufactured from the soy bean now have the GE resistive herbicide DNA structure within various foods (Soy products: flour, tofu, beverages, oil, pastries and baked products).  Hamsters that were fed GE soy products resulted in infertility and a high mortality rate.

Cotton – Cotton has been GM to resist pesticides like corn and soy.  Cotton is considered food because cooking oil can be extracted from the seeds and consumed.  Thousands of Indian farmers suffered severe rashes upon exposure to Chinese agricultural methods in order to kill the cotton bollworm.

Rapeseed – Canola is made from the edible Canadian Rapeseed crop; which most are familiar as a popular processed cooking oil and margarine.  Honey can also be produced from GM rapeseed.  As much as 1/3 of all pollen present in Canadian honey may likely be GM pollen.  For lack of animal studies it is unclear how these GM food sources will impact our health.

Papaya – Papaya crops produced in Hawaii was modified in 1999 to be virus-resistant.  Also, Monsanto provided Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India the GM technology to further develop a resistant ring spot virus papaya for India.  For lack of animal studies it is unclear how these GM food sources will impact health.

Now as if consumers need more to worry about.  Research is also beginning to show links to Morgellon’s Disease correlated with GM recombinant foods.

This disease a few years back was a mystery, or something one conjured up in the head.  But the opposite is being shown to be the case.  Patients have presented strange skin irritations, skin anomalies and most specifically a mysterious tiny blue, red and black fiber growth that protrudes from an itchy skin lesion on areas of the body and where GM foods are concentrated, sold and consumed.  There appears to be a direct correlation with these fiber samples that are not of human DNA origins, but in fact when comparing these fiber samples, Ahmed Kilani (researcher) found they belonged to a fungus.  Then it was found by Vitaly Citovsky (biochemist) and determined that these fibers contained a substance called “Agro bacterium.”  This substance is used commercially to produce genetically-modified plant foods!

For now, the lack of national labeling requirements makes it hard to know which foods have GM ingredients.  You’re also now aware ~10 of our major farmed food staples may be partially or fully produced from GM seeds.  And other products such as dairy, fish, meats and processed snack foods could have GM ingredients.

Recommendation – If you currently have immune, or other health, illness or disease issues, or are concerned about GM foods consume more organic foods.  The best prevention to mitigate possible health risks from GM foods is to shop as organic as possible and purchase more foods labeled “certified organic.”  Be sure to vote for GMO food labeling laws when it gets on your states ballots as it is your right to know what your consuming!

MirrorAthlete’s 1st Commercial Book Publication, A Powerful Principled Fitness Philosophy

17 07 2014

Read Mirror Athlete’s Book Publishing Story: Taking MirrorAthlete Corp. to the Next Level.

Always thinking, how can we each do our part for a better tomorrow.

Updated: 20 August 2014

The principled fitness techniques and context within our 1st book publication, due 1st quarter of 2015 is unlike any other fitness, health, and nutrition, lifestyle change book you’ve ever seen or read.

It is now in a final publisher development format.  It is loaded with unique personal and fitness consultant perspectives, client and other relative newsworthy stories, self-help forms, tables and satire graphic depictions that support each chapter’s unique content and personality.

These things and more provides the reader with a unique entertainment experience while learning consumer and self-help fitness skillsets and techniques that can be used for many years after the book’s released.  The book in many ways was developed and designed to be a timeless fitness trainer and programming how to book.

The MirrorAthlete Science and applied fitness consulting philosophy evolved through an  exercise science discipline and lifetime fitness consulting practice from private business and military service experiences.  Which included, fitness center and recreational management, consulting and medical health services derived from two military service careers.  One in the Army and the other in the Air Force.

The content within this book is not hype and provides a scientific, consumer wisdom and balanced fitness programming approaches that can be applied by anyone who desires to meet a specific fitness, nutrition and lifestyle goal(s).

Marc has managed to take multiple client and personal experiences as a lifetime fitness consultant and trainer that defines, relates and applies these principles in a very unique way.  This knowledge allows anyone to succeed in creating a customized fitness program without the cost of a professional fitness trainer or specialized consultant.  He provides the knowledge needed if you decide to take on this self-help fitness programming challenge.  If not, Marc provides safe support passage, illustrations, referral insight and where the basic building blocks are shared in a way to get your mobility, health and fitness goals to the next level.

These fit healthy lifestyle and consumer changes are also backed by hundreds of professional citations throughout the book.  So you don’t have to take the word of MirrorAthlete’s years of specialized fitness consulting, training, education and other relative experience.  We back up our work.

If you lack motivation to get started with a basic fitness program your shown how to overcome low motivation by increasing will power to stay the course.  When this wisdom is related too and applied correctly, long term fit-healthy habits and behaviors stick and you want to repeat the exercise habit daily.  As you work towards your fitness goals, you’ll do so without worry of being told you need to be on a restrictive diet plan, or told to buy an expensive product or fitness gimmick.

I understand many obese and out of shape individuals are looking for specific fitness results: i.e., weight loss, strength, muscular endurance, tone, flexibility and physical enhancement shortcuts that promise quick anti-aging and performance results. The marketplace is littered with manmade products and services that promise fast results… some work short term, while others don’t work at all and may cause harm to health.  In the long run to become dependent upon manmade chemicals of any type will cause long term risk to your good health. You don’t have to go the unsafe fast results route to reach your desired body weight, build muscle bulk for example, or stress yourself out doing it.

We know the marketplace won’t provide consumers the entire exercise and diet  products risk picture for good reasons.  There’s no money in the truth for them!

We’ll break down the consumer smoke screen for you by bringing more clarity on consumer hot button topics, divulge the marketplace truths and help connect  the cultural and environmental dots.  In many ways, your good health depends on truthful information that’s not always seen as plain as the nose on your face.

We also show you how to succeed at any fitness goal on a very low to a no cost basis.

Because the marketplace is fickle and full of greed “many sales people lack honor and integrity for the sake of a buck.  By making these marketplace connections through a unique fitness philosophy perspective, years of related experience and sense of humor will ”no doubt” resonate with anyone that reads this book.   Heck, many of you will relate to the humor but simultaneously be appalled and disgusted on how our marketplaces functions and treats consumers.  This book is designed and guaranteed to question consumer safety concerns, get you thinking and asking questions and make an action plan to improve your lifestyle situation and health.  While simultaneously getting more Americans engaged in supporting preventative educational resources in our K-12 schools to reduce childhood obesity.

The books contents will also serve as the needed attention getter to steer a Nations’s ship that’s lost its physical, mental, spiritual and moral ruder.

If you are tired of paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for fitness and diet products and services that don’t work long term, or don’t work at all and your tired of being overweight and unfit, look no further.   We connect all the relative market, culture and lifestyle player dots by using specialized knowledge combined with 60 years of exercise training, fitness, nutrition and health consulting service experiences to relate to achieving fitness goal results and meet consumer expectations.

MirrorAthlete Inc., is uniquely positioned through relative experience to expose these hard to find industry and marketplace fitness and health truths.    It is for good reason the marketplace hopes the majority of you never discover what’s in this book.  The unique contents threaten to fundamentally change a cultures habits and behaviors and way of doing business should this books contents proliferate on a massive scale.  As our cultural ships course is redirected, so will the marketplace.

I personally show how to apply these fitness and consumer truths by revealing 18 Powerful Fitness Principles.  Then provide the knowledge you need to customize your own fitness program without paying a fitness consultant-trainer; or need of questionable and untested manmade dietary, supplements, enhancement products or services.  Once shown how to decipher this lifestyle consumer code you’ll become addicted to your healthy fitness program for life because I show you how to create and develop one that’s safe, natural and fits like a glove.

Then within ending each chapter there’s the authors ongoing personal fitness challenge that’s relative to each chapter’s content.  In doing so Marc shares how he applied this information on himself during injury and disease.  Thereby those with physical and mental adversity challenges can relate and understand how using the same tool box can benefit them.   No matter the fitness or health condition, when mobility exercise and balanced nutrition relative to the individual is applied, increased fitness levels and overall quality of life can be improved and experienced.

We ask that you and your friends support our mission  “Saving a Nation in Pain,” by purchasing our book once published to help us also put a stop to childhood obesity.

We also accept donations at our home site to assist with further outreach to further influence and promote more ill-health prevention resources in our K-12 school systems.  For example, more physical activities, balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits and behavior and consumer education.  Proactive Prevention Education of such things is the best way for our children to learn and value the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, started at an early age for the sake of their families and future health of our nation.

Good health to you and your family!  Thank you for your support.
