Weight Loss through Body Chemical Activation

Any aerobic activity will release addictive body chemicals to burn more body fat and benefit health and fitness levels.

Updated 15 November 2018, Marc Woodard

Any type of physical activity will stimulate the body’s natural release of feel good chemicals to help you lose weight and experience daily wellbeing.

It is the activation of muscle metabolism during low impact aerobics exercise that will activate these feel good chemicals – while simultaneously melting away body fat.

Once you relate to and apply the information that follows – it only takes a little will power to begin chipping away at your weight loss goals and experience wellbeing daily.

The advantage of  low intensity aerobics exercise is it stimulates both the fat burning metabolic engine and activates addictive feel good body chemicals. Unlike high intensity strength and muscle bulking development; and high intensity aerobic exercise – these activities more or less suppress the fat burning engine to varying degree.

Walk to a destination place and fish for dinner.  “Thumbs down no fish.”

What many consumers don’t know is during low-intensity aerobic exercise the muscles metabolism prefers to burn fat fuel.  That’s right the metabolic energy needed to walk over a period of time prefers stored body fat to convert to glucose to fuel the large muscles in the legs and buttocks area.

The same muscles during high-intensity aerobics exercise like running and high impact aerobic dance for instance prefer mostly stored liver and muscle glycogen fuel to convert it to blood glucose [sugar].

The harder you train muscles in the body the less body fat you burn.  That’s a major reason high intensity exercise makes you crave carbohydrates after you’ve finished the workout. And for that reason – IS the reason those folks have a hard time losing excess body weight.

The point is, you don’t have to train hard to lose body fat and excess body weight.

The second point I want to make, regardless of training intensity the body will produce chemicals to addict you to exercise whether your building muscle, increasing muscular endurance, or toning the body.  But if you’re consuming a stimulant, diuretic or anabolic steroid or heavy herb concentrate supplement to “fast pace” any fitness goal, the natural chemicals released by the body will be suppressed and you’ll become addicted to an unnatural chemical supplement that may increase health risk.  You’ll may look and feel good [loss weight, or build muscle, etc.] for a while; but then bad at some point in time…

Unnatural fitness results through the use of fads, gimmicks, supplements and herbal diets are often short lived because their not sustainable habits. In the long run when applying these tactics to achieve a fitness goal – “too often,” may eventually break the fat burning (known as yo-yo dieting), or hormonal metabolism and increase health risk; then cause excessive weight gain.

Eat more healthy whole foods. Cut back on processed foods.

Once you connect how exercise and healthy whole foods dieting increases body chemical activation versus an unnatural fad-dietary course, you’ll better understand there is no good reason to “fast pace” a fitness result (e.g., weight loss).  Thereafter you can avoid the pit falls of unstainable lifestyle habits and ill-health consequences.

The 3 major chemicals the brain/body releases naturally during exercise and supports sustainable healthy weight loss…

1) Adrenaline a neurotransmitter and hormone produced by the adrenalin gland just above the kidneys, also known as norepinephrine and epinephrine (provides attention focus in brain).  Together these chemicals activate your fight or flight stimulation designed to get the body out of a stressful situation, or survive an injury scenario.  It acts as a natural pain killer, boosts oxygen and glucose fuel to brain, muscles and suppresses depression.

Walk your dog to a neat destination place you enjoy. Both receive the natural feel good brain-body benefits.

2)   Dopamine is produced and synthesized in the brain which boosts positive behavior, cognition, motor activity, motivation, sleep, mood, learning and attention.

3)  Serotonin is synthesized within the CNS (Central Nervous System).  This chemical is also found in many mushrooms, plants, fruits and vegetables.

Research shows Serotonin plays an important role in liver regeneration and induces cell division throughout the body (important for repair and healing of the body).  Serotonins role as a neurotransmitter of the brain is to modulate anger, mood, aggression, sleep, sexuality, appetite and metabolism.

Walk the beach and discover cool things.

People are motivated to move or walk for different reasons.  Once you find something that motivates you to move more… you’ll enjoy the natural brain-body feel good chemicals; and want to repeat the low impact aerobics exercise experience daily.

Continuous low impact aerobic exercise like walking, hiking, dancing or riding a bike will release those feel good chemicals and cause “for most” an addictive habit to form – whereas you’ll want to continue the course.  It will take approximately 1-2 weeks to become addicted to daily low-impact walk habit for example.

A little alcohol is okay. Over indulging is a bad habit.

Everyone differs slightly in metabolism, exercise and activity interest, intensity, frequency and duration of exercise activity daily.  For many daily low impact aerobics exercise will cause an instant craving to continue the course.

To maximize the odds of achieving a fitness, health or wellness goal four behavioral habits must be addressed if applicable.  1)  Stop substance abuse.  2)  Eat a balanced and nutritious diet.  3) Allow your brain-body the time to become addicted to the body’s natural feel good chemicals released through low-impact aerobics exercise activity.  4)  Remove yourself from unhealthy and stressful environments.

Bike, explore and get fit.

The increased exercise activities experienced by former clients did not require a lot of will power to perform low-impact aerobics exercise to achieve significant fitness results.

But it did require some lifestyle changes.

For example, when beginning a daily walk program it doesn’t’ requires much will power to get started.  But it does require a commitment.  In other words, the excuse I often hear people use to avoid any form of exercise, “I don’t have the time.”  But if you can make the time you’ll lose weight and feel better almost immediately once you start.  Then become addicted to it within 2-5 days.

The best New Year’s fitness resolution advice I could give anyone, as I’ve done with so many past clients… start a daily walk habit.  Walking is the best low impact fat burning activity whose large muscles prefer fat stored energy and it’s easy on weight bearing joints.

Walk and capture nature in a picture.

I assure you, if you walk a little each day, you’ll begin to release more of those feel good chemicals.  Then body fat will decrease and you’ll have more energy and feel lighter on your feet.  You’ll begin to look and feel better in no time.

If you’ve been sedentary for a long time, walking at first may seem uncomfortable and maybe feel unnatural.  But if you can work up to 15 or 30 minutes or more each day you’ll have significant fitness results success.

Keep this in mind.  Before the automobile how did we survive?

As hunters and gatherers our bodies are designed to get work done by walking.  Walking is a very natural and a primal thing we’re designed to do for a lifetime. I guarantee – if you maintain your walking muscle metabolism you’ll become addicted to sustaining it, and in return for your efforts your body will allow you to live life to the fullest.

Walk to the grocery store to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables.

I’ve had plenty of overweight clients walk or ride a stationary bike for a year before they achieved their weight loss fitness goal.  Thereafter participated in a competitive long distance walk, hike, jog or ran or biked a marathon event.  They never imagined themselves capable of doing anything like it.  They simply believed it possible because they could relate to the muscle metabolism and feel the chemical activation truth working within their brain-body.

Walk a county fair.

Be excited about all the possibilities that lie in front of you and enjoy life to the fullest by maintaining a daily low impact aerobics exercise habit!   Now go get addicted to the natural feel good drugs produced by your own body and reap the ideal body weight, longevity, wellness and health benefits!

Recreational Water Parks, Spas and Pools Unhealthy?

19 04 2018

Updated: 19 April 2018

Leisurely public pools, water parks and spa tub use are not without its sanitation challenges for pool staff.

There are many potential health risks public swim facilities pose for swimmers regardless of whether located indoors or outdoors.

Since our skin is the largest organ capable of absorbing environmental impurities; all should be aware that improper water sanitation practices lead to microorganism growth and chemical absorption that may increase health risk.

Most public pool facilities treat water with Chlorine to kill impurities that would otherwise be unhealthy for the swimmer. Chlorine is also easily absorbed through skin as well as  lungs through air born emitted chloroform and enters the blood exchange system. Chemical overexposure should cause great concern for those that spend a lot of time in treated water “especially” in hot tubes. The skins pore surface dilates and acts more sponge-like when submersed in hot water.

Listed below are potential health risks swimmers should be aware – if using public pools.

Public Swim Facilities Transmit Impurities and Increase Health Risk is Cause by the Following Elements.

1)  Fecal contaminants discharged, or washed off of swimmers and bathers.  2)  There is also non fecal shedding off the body such as, saliva, mucous, vomit and skin.  3)  Infected users can contaminate hot/cold environment with potential pathogenic viral, or fungi organisms.  4) Opportunistic bacteria from users of the aquatic facilities can adapt and survive as amoebae in both hot/cold environments.  5) Indoor spas and pools ventilation systems can be contaminated and transmit pollutants and microorganisms.  6) Wet public use floors have high potential of unsanitary microorganism surface growth.   (7) Outdoor facilities are challenged with wildlife excretion and other environmental microorganism sanitation issues.  (8) Diarrhea-causing a gastrointestinal illness that chlorine doesn’t always kill is Cryptosporidiosis parasites.  9)  Too much chlorine absorbed, or chloroform inhaled, or consumed can cause illness and disease.

High Chlorine Use and Exposure Awareness Facts

“Chlorine treated water and its air born Chloroform can cause allergic symptoms i.e.,: skin rash, irritation to eyes, sinuses, throat and lungs. Including problematic intestinal symptoms, arthritis and headaches.

Chlorine also weakens the immune system, dries the scalp and hair and creates worse dandruff. Animal studies found too much chlorinated water consumption causes genetic mutations, is a cancer catalyst causing liver cancer in laboratory animals. Canadian researchers found Chloroform risk to be 70-240 times higher in the air within indoor pools than outdoor pools. After an hour of swimming in a chlorinated pool, chloroform concentrations in the swimmers blood ranged from 100-1,093ppb.”

Minimize Microorganism & High Chlorine Exposure Risk

Shower before use; avoid swallowing water, report fecal matter release.

  1. Pool disinfectants burn skin, irritate respiratory; report and avoid use if any of these conditions are experienced.
  2. If you note see particulate matter, or cloudy water report and avoid pool use.
  3. Wear eye goggles when in pool and thongs when walking on spa surfaces.
  4. Inquire on maintenance practices: Chemical treatment, air filtration & ventilation.
  5. Consult with your physician if swimming benefits outweigh risks per current health condition.
  6. If you have diarrhea don’t enter spa/pools until 2 weeks after it ends.
  7. If swim facility is shut down for sanitation cleanup… Inquire on how the microorganisms were killed, e.g., extra chlorine, ultraviolet radiation, or ozone treatment.
  8. If the pool smells heavy of chlorination avoid the facility use.

Note:  There are pools that don’t use chlorination: Ultraviolet-ozone and salt.

Each impurity health concern has the potential to cause a variety of respiratory, dermal or central nervous system allergic reaction, infection or illness and possible disease.  And in order to reduce risk requires one to become knowledgeable about public pool water treatment and sanitation practices before use.

The practice of proper chemical use includes but not limited to, creating and maintaining a neutral PH to provide a non-toxic/microorganism environment while simultaneously maintaining proper water/air filtration and pump system upkeep.

Indoor pools that use chlorine need to ensure ventilation systems have proper filter change out and remove excess chloroform by replacing it with fresh outdoor air makeup.

Without proactive maintenance practices to reduce environmental health risk to swimmers – adults and children are at increased risk of contracting an infectious illness that could manifest to disease.

MirrorAthlete Reveals Fitness Consulting Trade Secrets

20 03 2018

Updated: 20 March 2018

Marc beginning a 10mile walk in Central CA.

A former client Sid asked specific questions regarding information I posted on MirrorAthlete’s first web site back in 2007. His queries provided an opportunity to share more of the company’s history with readers and reflect on how we got into publishing our first book.

[Sid’s Questions] … I can’t seem to locate your MirrorAthlete pain chronicles I read back in the early years.

“I remember it as a unique informational pain management and personalized chronicles website. Have your memoirs been moved?  ‘Where can I find them?”

“And do you still take on clients for fit healthy lifestyle consultation and customized fitness and assessment programming?  ‘I’m also interested to learn more on how you improved your fitness levels after injuries and chronic pain story.”

A friend of mine coincidentally lives in your neck of the woods. She also recalled like I did, “you produced and sold nutritional supplements under the name of Dynamic Dimensions in Tigard and surrounding cities, while offering 1:1 services in fitness assessments in the 90’s for a consulting fee.”

I’m looking to become more fit and increase muscle mass and lose weight naturally.  But now feel I’m losing ground because of lower body joint pain.  Although I’m working with my doctor and yet another fitness trainer, ‘they don’t have that unique fitness trainer – pain management perspective I understand you’ve mastered.  I see you’re on LinkedIn, FaceBook, and Twitter and now a City councilor in your home town since 2011. ‘You’ve not slowed down a bit – especially after what I remember of your 5-year mobility challenge.”

I do walk miles daily. Best aerobic activity one could perform daily

Marc walks on ave 50-60 miles walking per week.

I also hear you walk on average 7-10 miles daily on a regular basis and no longer take on clients.  ‘would you consider taking on a former client?”

Sincerely,

Sid.

From the Desk of Marc Woodard,

Sid, thank you for considering to put your trust in me once again. You and your friends memory of what I was doing years ago is impressive.

Unfortunately I no longer take on clients.  I found it more productive to put that knowledge and energy into a soon to be released ‘Very Unique’ fit healthy lifestyle book – A fitness and health book like no other… sorry I can’t be a personal coach for you at this time in your life. However once published, the book will be like me being right there with you. Once you begin reading it – some parts of the consulting logic will be very familiar to you – and a comfort for others looking for similar information.

I’ve included the personalized fitness and healthy lifestyle programming processes and practices I used during past client consultations; including industry secrets, client cases and stories; and my personal physical adversity challenge not published anywhere else.

‘Once I became my own client’ – I also became ‘forever MirrorAthlete’ with a renewed life purpose. ‘My job now is to manage personal health and maintain sustainable mobility so I can be there for my family and community for years to come.

To answer your question directly, the pain chronicle link at the old web site contained memoirs throughout 2007-08; I ran that journal for just over a year as I was rehabbing my way back to good health and walk-ability after disease and injury took it away for awhile.

And through that rehab process, I also contemplated sharing that knowledge and much more through a unique fit healthy lifestyle book… useful for just about anyone at any age.

I jotted down those ideals initially in a notepad during a 1999 Mexican Rivera cruise – Four years before injury and disease came knocking at my door.  Little did I know ‘those notes’ would be useful 10 years later to begin writing an impossible book concept.  It was larger than any project I’ve ever undertaken, even in graduate school… and harder to put into words than ever imaged.  I began chipping away at it in 2011.  But really got serious about the ideal of publishing a book in 2012-14.

Now 2018 – “God willing, it will be published this year.”

In early 2008 I decided to pull the MirrorAthlete Pain Chronicles from the original site and placed some of that context into the original manuscript.  But the original manuscript outlined in 1999 read more like a bunch of short stories. At that time I was not well versed in story telling and integration of factual information with personal stories. The project at first was a writers nightmare… “one I dreaded chipping away at most days.”

“I wrote many manuscript versions after the first one, but still lacked an interesting story line that would capture the heart, mind and spirit of anyone looking to self-improve themselves physically, mentally and spiritually – And ‘would want to refer back to the chapters content time and time again as lifestyle changes occurred.”

Unfortunately for me I was more or less a skilled technical writer… not a creative story teller. Two very different and distinct writing styles and skill sets. Learning how to integrate the two, including narration is not something I learned in any school.

So there you have it. It took years of failed manuscripts and grammatically incorrect article writings to learn how to develop an interesting story telling and factual writing style that ‘I NOW know from editorial and publishing experts – the manuscript is near ready for book publication. There are just a few more minor tweaks: editorial, book cover design and reference and citation details to refine.

I look back at those Chronicle posts and early article publications from 2007-2012; my writing style and grammar wasn’t good.  I’m still slowly but surely updating the article archives within our current website. I’ve rarely as of late written any new MirrorAthlete articles.  The latest articles I’ve written is strictly City related and published within our community newspaper once per month. After it is published and released through Tigard Life Community Paper, a week later I publish it at MirrorAthlete for the archives.

My focus is to update older MirrorAthlete articles, write for the community paper [city recreation, fitness and health related topics]; and complete the 10-year book project.

Initially I didn’t plan to start a fitness and health information and articles publication web site based business…  And still wasn’t sure I wanted to write a book since I didn’t consider myself a good writer. Even today it’s still a challenge to write well… the passion that drives me – “I want to reach out to help others that need help losing weight, want to get more fit healthy ‘NATURALLY;’ and are going through a physical or mental adversity challenge and need help with those things.” Including to provide solutions to reverse childhood obesity within K-12 schools. The book is something I know peopled need and want now; and will benefit future generations – It’s really about customized fitness and healthy lifestyle programming for all walks of life.

Marketplaces are globally connected.

Living Life to the Fullest in Portland OR

In 2012 I nearly quit writing after my first manuscript submission to a publishing company.

The publisher liked the content and unique fit healthy lifestyle concept; but recommended I make ~550 changes. At that time the book was a 25 chapter manuscript.

Well hell, “I might as well have just thrown it in the garbage.” The whole thing was marked up in red – “What an Ego-Defeating blow!”

I almost quit writing at that point because the task of learning to write well – “quite frankly was ‘intimidating and overwhelming.” It literally SUCKED if I can say that… guess I just did – “Senior editor has its perks.”

Like many new authors doubting their ability to write well, I was no exception. Eventually I put my pride aside. I had to make a decision, “Quit or press on, ‘thankfully I pressed on.”

Jefferson Library within Congressional Library Washington DC

Jefferson Library within Congressional Library Washington DC

“Oh well 18 years later is better than never.”

… Once I incorporated the principled fit healthy lifestyle philosophy into the umpteenth revised manuscript… “I don’t know – I lost count…”  Everything began to fall in place. I knew I had something special and different than anything else out there in the marketplace.

A book so unique and timely for those desperate to change their lives and live it agelessly to the fullest – even for THE mobility challenged; ANY literary agent would want a stake in marketing it and now I know it.

“This is when the real work began – polishing and revising and modifying it to perfection before publication.”

I chose a specific publishing company to help me through minor book editing, styling and grammatical polishing process. I was finally ready to submit a new and improved manuscript unlike the one marked up in red. This manuscript was markedly and significantly improved from it’s 25 Chapter to a lean 18 Chapter version; with a whole lot more bang for the consumer buck.

The new and improved manuscript fully incorporates MirrorAthlete 18 principled fit healthy lifestyle philosophy based on unique lifetime experiences, client cases, industry knowledge, fitness consulting trade secrets revealed and lifetime education and client case lessons learned, etc..  Now I’m providing this information so it can be applied by anyone. Even those going through a tough physical or mental adversity or mobility challenge that need help in achieving a state of well-being.

MirrorAthlete® Principled Fitness and Healthy Lifestyle Philosophy is based on 18 principled fit healthy lifestyle beliefs [Some of these Principles have been Revised within the 2018 Editorial Process and manuscript soon to be published].

1   “Optimize fitness results by defining and relating to applied fitness practices”

2   “Ill-health prevention through health literacy education can save a nation in pain”

3   “Working muscle metabolism prefers specific fuel mixtures to optimize fitness results”

4   “Due diligence relative to unnatural consumer product use reduces health risk”

5   “Balanced food nutrients support optimum health and fitness levels”

6   “Consumer needs and wants determine marketplace supply and demand”

7   “Removing a bad habit may require a substitute practice to achieve the goal”

8   “Man adds hyper-palatable ingredients to foods that addict and harm health”

9   “Relating to lab results can influence lifestyle change and consumer choice”

10 “Successful Weight Loss does not Require Abstinence from the Foods you Love to eat”

11  “Select Cooking Fats that Benefit Weight Loss, Health and Fitness Goals”

12  “Childhood experiences influence adult habits and behavior”

13  “Commit to healthy habit change & achieve Weight loss goals”

14  “Chemically and genetically engineered foods increase health risk”

15  “Physical activity releases natural body chemicals that support fitness and health goals”

16  “Oxygenate the body, burn more fat and reduce illness and disease risk”

17  “Nature provides what we need to live happy, healthy and productive long lives”

18  “Relative exercise programming optimizes fitness & healthy lifestyle goals”

In ending each chapter I’ve included my Personalized Fitness Challenge Story relative to each chapters content, including client stories and the programming processes and practices I used for years. Which are backed by hundreds of professional referred citations throughout the book.

And to make it even more appealing for visual readers [like me] – there are ~50 unpublished and unique satirical cartoons, including useful tables and forms similar to what I used during my 1:1 client consults. Our Cartoonist John Fiedler does not disappoint. Please feel free to learn more about John and his lifetime work by clicking on Ole Fuzz Cartoons.

Sid, “you won’t have a long wait to hear the rest of the story… and get the consulting information you need and want now!”

Marc at the capital.

Marc as a City Delegate at the capital.

My wife often asks when the book will be released.

I simply reply, “It’ll be ready when it’s ready and not before.”

I’ve also had other writer’s say, “You know Marc it will never be good enough in your eyes.  ‘Just submit it, let the publishers tweak it through the editorial process and get it published… and consider a ghost writer if you need to.

But if I let anyone write any part of it… well it wouldn’t be written by MirrorAthlete.

I’ll admit I’ve become a much better writer and editor now than those early years.  I know the book quality and competitive writing style and consumer value is there. At least the last editorial review I received from the current publisher was more than positive… They inspired me to get it published this year.

It seems I’ve read each chapter a hundred times.  And to tell you the truth the content is captivating to a point where I look forward to a reading it again and again… as I know others will. Often as I read, I still don’t believe I’m the creative and technical writer and author – It’s almost as if someone else wrote it “I have to pinch myself… ‘Yep it’s me.”

I guarantee – The reader will often refer back to it as I have; a lifetime reference to receive timeless professional fit healthy lifestyle advise, guidance and behavioral-habit directional change when its needed to sustain a state of well-being.

And for those struggling with physical, mental and spiritual adversity… I believe the “Personal fitness Challenge Stories” at the end of each chapter will resonate on a personal level; and of great comfort; especially those struggling with mobility challenges, disease, injury, the aging process, body weight, self-image, anxiety and depression, etc.

Now thousands of consumers like you [Sid] will have my 1:1 consulting services without paying a consulting fee and continue to live life to the fullest regardless of fitness or health condition, or age.

By having access to my ‘timeless’ best-in-class principled fit healthy lifestyle insider consumer and fit healthy lifestyle programming truths – “especially the ones the mega-industries hope you never discover, ‘you will experience greater well-being and body image satisfaction never thought possible without paying hundreds of dollars to find these hard-to-find insider consulting truths.”

Sid,

Thanks so much for the memories and opportunity to share MirrorAthlete history and update our readers in search of this hard to find fit healthy lifestyle consumer information – ALL available in our first book publication soon to be released.

I assure you… “I know when the book is published, everything you and others looking for NATURAL diet, weight loss, health, well-being, physical performance, increased fitness and activity levels, and anti-aging information, etc., you’ll not be disappointed.”

“Good health to you and your family!” And thank you for thinking and believing in me throughout the years.

Sincerely,

Marc.

Taking Flight In Tigard Dog Park

20 03 2018

Molly our red Irish Setter

On more than one occasion my wife and I have taken ‘Molly’ our red setter to Potso Dog Park in Tigard. It is a spacious 1.5 acres and perfect for ‘catch and fetch,’ and dogs that like to sprint and run aimlessly. Also people who enjoy walking their dog off leash can use the roughed-in walking path circling a good portion of the inner parameter.

Tigard Potso Dog Park

Next to the parking area there is a separate enclosure for puppies and smaller dogs. The park is located on Wall Street off of Hunziker Road in Tigard.

Additional amenities include: fountains for both people and dogs, baggies to pick up after your pet. Double gated entryway, benches, tables and shelters, outhouse, water bowls, extra balls laying around, etc. The park is open from dusk to dawn. And closed through 12:30pm for maintenance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

It’s unique because of proximity to a nearby creek and rolling wooded hillside east of its location. I’m not a bird watcher by any means, but have noticed those Pacific Northwest dark-eyed Juncos, ‘a genus of American sparrows’ feeding in mass early mornings and just before sunset at certain times of the year. It appears this place is a migratory refuge for a variety of birds heading south before winter.

Any dog owner would appreciate these little critters congregating, especially if they motivated a dog to take chase and get more exercise. When we first watched Molly chase them, we looked at each other and agreed, “This is awesome, ‘The birds will definitely tire her out.” We were laughing because the dog is fast like a racehorse out the gate, but she’d need the life-force of ‘Flash’ to actually catch one.

Fence in Backdrop Molly Jumped Over

It was cool watching her until she caught air at the corner of the SW field fence – like a free-range deer jumping leaps and bounds, she took flight. “Didn’t see that one coming.”

Transitioning from a full sprint to a high jump like-leap with precision, she effortlessly cleared that fence trying to catch a Junco mid-air. Then disappeared into the woods without a sound or trace. To our disbelief and others aghast who watched the spectacle, “if you hadn’t seen it, you wouldn’t have believed it.” Thankfully with the help of dog loving volunteers, she was found and panting joyfully to see us a few hours later. The search group that helped find her were awesome people. She was happy to see us and ready to go home and enjoy another day’s adventure. Hopefully the next one wouldn’t be so harrowing.

If your dog loves to chase birds and can’t leap a fence in a single bound – it’s a safe game of cat and mouse. They both enjoy the chase. There is no better way to drain that metabolic dog battery so everyone sleeps better at night. Since Molly’s battery was made by Eveready – and wired with a turbocharged accelerator to leap effortlessly over a fence, we need to exercise her daily to keep it half drained. Also by avoiding those birds she’s had no desire to leap any more fence lines – We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Tigard Summer Lake Dog Park

The second largest dog park is located on the outskirts of Summer Lake at 11450 SW Winter Lake Drive. It’s approximately 2/3 acre and similar to Potso in many ways. With exception: it doesn’t have a separate small dog parameter. It has a nice public restroom nearby, watering service and sheltered area with table and bench.  It is open daily from dust to dawn.

Tigard Ash Ave. Dog Park

Ash Ave Dog Park is the smallest of the three and accommodates all sizes of dogs. It has similar amenities like the other two Parks and is located across from Attwell apartments on the corner of SW Burnham and SW Ash Street in Down Town Tigard. It is abundant with wood fiber surface material and has a nice shelter and seating area. There is a fountain for both owner and dog, including paw wash. ADA-friendly parking is close to the double gated entry way and bike rack.

Double Gateway in Dog Parks with Dog Rules

Be sure to read the dog rules posted at each dog Park entrance gate. And remain vigilant to control your dog should it become overly aggressive with another dog.  Everyone can enjoy dog Parks when respectful of each other and mindful of dog ‘rules-of-engagement.’ Learn more about Tigard dog Parks: http://www.tigard-or.gov/community/dogparks.php

Good health to you and your family.

The knowledge within this book will allow anyone to succeed in creating a customized fitness and healthy habits lifestyle program without the cost of a professional trainer or specialized fitness and health consultant services or products.

The information you need to know NOW is broken down within an easy to understand format that includes: Best-In-Class fitness and health principles and includes:  how to program a customized fitness and healthy habits plan relative to your lifestyle needs. To include: how to identify consumer fitness and performance enhancement fads and scams in the marketplace that increase health risk.

If you lack motivation to break an addictive habit or behavior; or want to advance your fitness and healthy lifestyle goal to the next level, we shown how to do it naturally while increasing will power to stay the course.

As you work towards achieving the fit healthy anti-aging goal, you’ll do so without worry of applying a restrictive diet plan, or purchasing expensive services, products or gimmick to reduce body fat, build muscle, increase physical performance and get more mobile etc..  We don’t sell hype – only information on how to achieve natural fitness and healthy lifestyle goals to live life to the fullest.

The marketplace is littered with manmade products and services that promise fast fitness and performance enhancement results… “some appear to work short term, while others don’t work at all… And in both cases ‘likely’ increase health risk.”  Consumers will soon learn they don’t have to go the unsafe route to achieve fit healthy anti-aging results at the expense of health – compromised by illness and disease.

We know the marketplace won’t provide consumers the entire health risk truth relative to their unnatural fitness and enhancement performance products for good reason.  “There’s no money in it for them.”

The consumer truths soon to be shared… “man manipulates and injects addictive chemical and genetically engineered ingredients into foods and supplemental diet products known to increase and cause health problems.”  We know the fitness, diet, performance enhancement and anti-aging industries won’t share these truths with the consumer – but we do – we know better.  It is for good reason the consumer industries hope the majority of you never discover what’s revealed in this book.

If you’re tired of paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for fitness and diet product  and services gimmicks that don’t work long term, or not at all… and tired of being overweight and unfit – look no further.

Also our unique principled philosophy is especially relative to K-12 schools.  And if applied within our children’s school curriculum on a national level – It would fundamentally change the fitness, health and medical marketplace supply and demand model for future generations.  This book is a must read for educators, city recreation personnel, coaches, school officials and board members.

The book is an informative, interesting, energetic, optimistic and exciting read in itself.

But more so by way of each ending chapter – there’s an ongoing personal fitness challenge and personalized message by ‘yours truly’ relative to chapter content.  By connecting each chapter principle with real world happenings it is also possible to heal and improve any physical adversity scenario, e.g., illness, disease, limited mobility.

Also those who experience physical and mental adversity challenges can relate and use the same tools provided within the book to help advance any desired fitness or health goal to live life to the fullest.  The author provides a “secondary and continuing personal adversity challenge back-story at the end of each chapter” relative to the books content. Which also covers limited mobility and health challenge improvements through expedient primary care referrals and fit healthy principles knowledge covered within the book.

We ask that you and your friends consider supporting our mission  “Saving a Nation in Pain,” by taking the following actions.  Visit our web site and support us by purchasing a book once released and sharing this information with your friends, family and community.

Tigard’s Rail-To-Trail Conversion with COOL Recreation Use Possibilities

22 12 2017

Last month I wrote an article on “Transforming Tigard Heritage Trail to Destination Place.”  To learn more about the trail concept plans… visit the City of Tigard web site.  Link is posted under the image above. This month I’m sharing the evolution of abandoned rail lines like the partially developed Tigard Heritage Trail system running parallel to Tigard Street – and how this is not unique to the City of Tigard.

It has become a national trend where inactive rail right-of-ways, or “Rails-To-Trails” conversions are targeted by cities; then work in partnership with various agencies to create more walkable connections that may include a whole host of other trail amenities. “We’re creating a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors to build healthier places for healthier people (Rails-To-Trails Conservatory 2017).”

Marching to the beat of a similar heathy place and people drum – the NRPA (National Recreation and Parks Association) offers best-in-class city recreation services, trends and revenues generation education, indoor/outdoor recreation facilities design, resource assistance, fitness and health trend data etc. The leadership and vision between these two large organizations have created a unique way to conceptualize city trail design and build-out for best-in-class recreation activities that also compliment walking exercise.

Tigard city planners had recently hosted public sessions and identified many trail amenities that could be co-joined along Tigard’s Heritage trail system. It just so happens the two most popular leisurely amenities per visionary trail-use design made the Heritage Trail planning concept wish list. They are “outdoor exercise gym-stations and biking facility obstacle course.” But this does not mean they’ll be developed alongside this trail system. There were many other popular trail amenity ideals that made the list.

Street Fair 2017 Tigard OR – Bringing Community Together

The City of Tigard’s strategic vision, “Make Tigard the most walkable city in the Pacific NW where people of all ages and abilities enjoy healthy and interconnected lives,” is a call to action to connect and develop more public use trails throughout city neighborhoods. The nationwide Rails-to-Trails and NRPA visionary efforts combined have captured the imagination of Tigard city officials, business leaders, recreational enthusiasts and residents throughout the public process.

A major driving force behind more pathways and rails-to-trails conversion and innovative outdoor exercise facilities evolved from national health and financial disparity data – showing a connection to America’s increasing obesity problem. “Americans are suffering from their poor diet and exercise choices. Heart disease claims some 600,000 people — one in every four deaths — in the United States every year. Obesity affects nearly 60 million adults, or about 30 percent of the adult population, and more than a third of all U.S. children and adolescents are overweight or obese. In addition, a wide range of other chronic diseases related to diet and exercise keep Americans in ill health.”

During the NPRA Conference in 2015, it was stated, “Everyone in America deserves a safe place to walk and wheelchair roll.” And “Parks and recreation are the centers of our communities,” Surgeon General Murthy also said. “Parks and recreation centers are also centers of health. They build a foundation for a healthier life.” Penalosa the key note speaker stated, “If you really care about poor people, we must improve the quality of leisure time available to all people.” To read the full article: http://www.nrpa.org/parks-recreation-magazine/2015/october/preparing-for-action/.

Dirksen Nature Park, Tigard OR – Outdoor Fitness Center

In essence the audience in conference understood the key note and special speaker messages – And from my perspective here’s the takeaway… “City Parks and Recreation saves lives through centers of health where recreational activities are accessible and affordable for everyone. In doing these things, the health disparity imbalance and obesity problems plaguing any place can be greatly reduced when all ‘enjoy healthy and interconnected lives’ [Woodard 2017].”

Bull Mountain Park Tigard, OR – Children’s Natural Interactive Playground

City Parks and Recreation leaders throughout the nation understand NRPA’s 2015 call to action. “It was about inspiration. It was about urgency.” It was also about parks and recreation doing its part in reducing childhood obesity while bringing community together. With these two organizations marching to a similar beat in building healthier places for people – opens unbelievable outdoor recreation and environmental opportunities and experiences to “improve the quality of leisure time available to all people.”

This national call to action in cities has already taken root. “Parks & Recreation Magazine followed up with three park departments across the country that have embraced this new wave of fitness trails and play zones innovations in order to keep residents healthy and moving… ‘Some projects are partially funded between $12-40k,’ “in part through a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to work with the local health district to curb obesity and diabetes.” Read the full story at: http://www.nrpa.org/parks-recreation-magazine/2013/may/hit-the-outdoor-gym/

Weight Loss and Fitness Secrets Revealed – New Year New You!

22 12 2017

Heritage Trail Tigard, OR – Begin a walking habit.. It does a body good.

Last Updated:  22 Dec 2017

It’s a new year and will it also be the beginning of a new you?

How many time have you tried making a New Year’s resolution?  Or one you’d actually make a commitment to and it stuck?

So what is your New Year’s Resolution, what do you want to change about yourself, or life? Is it to finally lose that excess weight once and for all… start a walk/jog exercise program;  spend more time with the family; get out of an unhealthy relationship; stop a bad smoking or drinking habit; get a new job – move from an unhealthy environment…

Can you guess what the top  New Year Resolutions are for 2018?

As long as I’ve been involved within the fitness industry there have been two top contenders:  Weight loss and get more fit [almost always in that order].

This should not surprise anyone especially when national statistics show nearly 60 million adults, or about 30 percent of the adult population, and now more than a third of all U.S. children are overweight or obese.

To lose weight and increase fitness levels requires a commitment through a healthy lifestyle change action plan.  A major reason New Years Resolutions don’t work – there is no plan to motivate and steer the course.

First you must target what unhealthy environment, habit or behavior is causing the weight gain and unfit condition. Then once you’ve targeted the unhealthy situation – try to incrementally reduce and remove it through consistent healthy habit change.

For instance, if you have a bad habit of eating too many processed foods; cut back on them, or remove the really bad ones from the diet.  OR if you spend most of the day sitting, take a portion of that day and commit to a daily walk, or some other form of aerobic activity you enjoy 15-45minutes/day.  OR if you have a bad habit of drinking too many artificial sweeteners: Aspartame and HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) in sodas, juice and coffee will only add weight… change to drinking more water, natural drinks; coffee and tea without additives.

As a personal fitness trainer and healthy lifestyle consultant for years, I’ve heard an earful on diet-fitness fads and gimmicks to lose weight, enhance physical performance and increase muscle bulk and strength…  people don’t want to change their “I WANT IT NOW” behavior.   Instead they’ve been conditioned to believe they don’t have to change – because the marketplace provides short cuts to heal what ails the mind, body and spirit – NOW.  What many consumers don’t know, those quick results gimmicks and fads makes someone a ton of money at the expense of your health.

Before you purchase the next great diet or fitness fad gimmick, keep this in mind – many weight loss and anti-aging and anabolic-like supplements MAY provide significant results short term for certain groupings of people who’s metabolism is not yet broken.

Notice I said, “NOT YET.”  “It’s not a matter of IF, it’s WHEN –  ‘IF CHEATING the metabolic habit is not broken.”

When products artificially ramp up, or accelerate hormone systems and overall metabolism artificially, those physiological functions and systems lose efficiency and will eventually break and/or cause illness and disease at some point in time.  The manmade CHEATING – metabolic accelerators include: anti-aging steroid-like supplements, high concentrate herbal and anti-oxidant cocktails, etc., designed to help you lose weight fast, increase muscle mass and enhance physical performance – in an unhealthy way.

Natural weight loss, muscle growth, toning, well-being and anti-aging SAFE-programming must be relative and compatible with individual lifestyle change goals.  AND WITHOUT Engineered and Manipulation of Natural products.  Also if a natural or unnatural weight loss program or plan is not relative to a current health or environmental condition; or food variety and personal activity preference… it can’t be sustained long term either.  This includes exercise activity to become more fit.

In other words, if your not enjoying the habit changing experience… you’ll not commit to it long term and then fall for the next marketplace gimmick or fad in attempts to achieve a quick result.

IF you seek professional services to make positive lifestyle change – Buyer BEWARE: Lifestyle change programs designed for one client should not be plagiarized from someone else’s program and applied to you.  If this is the case, don’t expect a similar weight loss or muscle bulking, or toning result.  That is not how relative-personalized, or customized fitness or healthy lifestyle change programming works.

I know most of you have no back ground in customized fitness and healthy habit change programming where natural weight loss can be achieved by anyone and sustained long term [provided an medical condition doesn’t prevent achieving that goal].

If you’ll allow yourself to think in the following terms, you’ll begin to understand the basic foundation of NATURAL fitness and healthy lifestyle change programming logic to achieve a positive lifestyle change naturally. ONE THAT WORKS FOR YOU!

We are all of various age, sex, personality, genetically wired differently, culturally diverse, have different body types; experience various levels of wellbeing, spiritualism, motivation, will power… Have different lifestyle needs and wants within changing social and cultural environments, etc.

Now you begin to understand why one fit healthy lifestyle change program or product will not work for everyone, or in the same way.  AND may increase health risk LONG-TERM regardless of who uses the manmade gimmick or fad flavor of the month.

So how can you successfully and safely plan to create a new you for the New Year?  Especially if lacking the skill sets to make that New Year’s Resolution stick?

If you’ve been unsuccessful in changing any of your lifestyle habits or fitness goals – might I suggest, or recommend a life coach or fitness consultant, or 1:1 fitness trainer professional to help you develop a natural fitness or healthy lifestyle change plan that’s right for you.
