Clear up Yellowed, Thickened and Cracked Toenails Once and for all

If you or someone you know has yellowed, thickened, cracked and/or swollen and inflamed toenails… it is caused from a fungus called onychomycosis [which literally means fungal infection of the nail].

Typically this disease is caused by a fungal tinea species and can also be caused by a candida yeast fungal species.  It is also possible to spread these tiny microorganisms to friends and family when good hygiene is not the standard.  Either species of fungus can cause a progressive condition that can infect one or more nails, causing them to thicken, discolor, crumble and separate from the toenail bed and cause a foul odor (Dutra 2014).

Good news… This infection can be removed and healthy pink toenails can be yours once again.

What is this fungus and how do we get it?  Environmental conditions necessary for it to survive and spread include:  Sweaty feet with cotton socks, or socks that don’t breathe, or hold moisture and can cause more than one toenail to become infected.  Public use areas that are warm, humid and moist; such as locker rooms, pools, saunas, gyms, even home showers shared by family members are suspect.  These are perfect environments for these organisms to infect others through bare foot surface contact.

Once the fungus resides within the toe and nail tissues, our footwear can sustains and spread it as long as the environmental conditions remain consistent.  And these things have mostly to do with improper hygiene.

Public use showers and locker room floors are fungus cultivating environments.

There appear to be other factors that include age and other medical conditions that can cause more severe foot and toenail problems.  These other factors may include abnormal PH skin, poor circulation, Athlete’s foot, diabetes, immune problems, another infection or injury of toe or nail and skin psoriasis (MayoClinic 2011).  It is said before a person reaches 70 years old, there is a 50/50 chance of contracting this fungal condition.

A mechanical or tissue breach may also make you prone or susceptible to acquiring this infection.  For instance, when you wear an improperly fitted, or undersized shoe and walk in a way that creates a bio-mechanical foot-toe friction, an opportunity is provided to the fungus and infect the tissues.  For example, when the end of the big and small toe nails repeatedly catch friction between the toes and shoe material, a loosening of the nail(s) from the toe bed(s) can lead to micro-trauma of both skin and nails.  Micro cracks in skin and nails present a perfect opportunity for bacteria to set in and spread its infectious fungus (Dutra 2014).

Also beware, unsterilized salon-home nail clippers, emery boards or other instruments can become infected and spread the fungus.  And once it’s on your toenails, after clipping them it is possible to spread this to fingernails if you don’t wash your hands.

And if you use a lot of toenail and fingernail polish to cover discolored nails, this may sustain the life of the fungus indefinitely.  Because of the way nail polish seals in bacteria and moisture, the tissue does not breathe or heal well.

If this fungal infection goes untreated it can continue on indefinitely and may cause, or contribute to increased health risk of other complications for a specific demographic that doesn’t’ seek medical treatment.  “When the immune system is weakened due to other medical conditions especially those with Aids, leukemia or have received an organ transplant serious health risk may result (MayoClinic 2011).”

There are medical treatments, pharmaceuticals and natural remedies you can use that may remove this fungus once and for all.  However, if you have a medical condition and/or infection is causing extreme pain and is of health concern, it is wise to seek medical attention in treating this disease immediately.

Your medical treatment options,

It is highly recommended you make an appointment with your primary care doctor or podiatrist for proper treatment of fungal foot, toe, toenail or fingernail infection.  Your doctor will likely prescribe one of the following topical medications:  For mild infection this may likely include one of four applications:  Formula 3, Elon, Fungasil, or Penlac.  For a more serious condition an oral antifungal drug may be prescribed, such as Sporanox or Lamisil.

Before oral medication is prescribed your doctor will likely need to assess your health risk through lab work.  This assessment is done to determine the functionality of your liver and what prescriptions are safe for your use.

Doctors often prescribe antifungal powders with orals to increase the odds that the fungal infections will stay neutralized or completely abated.

Natural treatments may remove or improve this condition.  The most popular ones are listed.

  1.  Vinegar soaking [1 part vinegar/2 part water], ~ 20 minutes daily; no less than 2-3 times per week.
  2. Some even treat this fungus with a daily application of Vicks Vapor Rub.  However it is wise to consult your doctor about this as there is no known study that proves it will kill this fungus and what is the proper application.  Apple Cider Vinegar [soak foot in equal parts mixed with water].
  3. Tea Tree Oil [swab pure oil on nail, or dilute with equal parts olive oil or thyme oil to apply to skin].
  4. White vinegar [considered the best solution in dealing with toe nail fungus]. 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, soak 15 minutes daily].
  5. Garlic has allicin and is an anti-fungal element [use equal parts garlic and olive oil].  If you don’t have garlic oils, crush two garlic cloves and two Tsps. of olive oil.  Let mixture stand 24 hours, then apply and cover with bandage daily], (Top10 2014).

How can you prevent toenail fungus from developing?

  1. Purchase properly fitted shoes that breathe and provide enough room for your toes.
  2. Wear sandals when appropriate.
  3. Air out shoes, throw away over worn socks and shoes.
  4. Change socks daily and especially after sweating in them and don’t wear socks that absorb moisture.
  5. Use anti-fungus powders and sprays; maintain short, dry and clean nails.
  6. Don’t pick at skin around nails even when there is infection.
  7. If you have your toenails manicured by a saloon, ensure they sterilize and disinfect instruments prior to use.
  8. After social functions remove nail polish.
  9. Bare foot walking in public places should be avoided.
  10. See your podiatrist if you have foot and/or toe fungus.

Acupuncture a PsuedoScience or Not – Baffles Many

At one point in my life I sought alternate treatment for severe back pain.  I only did so after all other conventional treatments had failed.

It’s true physical therapy, diet, ideal body weight, prescriptions and exercise do help with weight bearing, pre-post surgery pain relief and the healing process.

But when you have substantial structural and neurological damage in/around bone and soft tissue which includes tendons, ligaments and muscle, you’re most certain to experience varying levels of acute and chronic pain for long periods of time.

For those that go under the knife to correct and alleviate pain, risk of complications do occur.   Under the best case surgical scenario, repair with significant pain relief is experienced – but not guaranteed.

Because of my unique pain story, I preferred to work around the pain centers throughout the body using alternative pain relief methods.  Since there’s no guarantee surgeries could provide a pain free experience… “I ventured into acupuncture.”

At one point in my life I would have tried any type of pain relief modality opposed to surgery.  Whether I believed it would work or not.  And at that time acupuncture was something I didn’t have a lot of faith in “but I was running out of options and desperate to reduce pain spikes.”

My current thoughts on acupuncture – “Ultimately I became a believer.”  I’m not exactly sure how it physiologically improves function and heals at a cellular level.  BUT I do see how it can relieve pain through stimulation of chemical and electrical transmitters in the body.

I also understand our bodies have this “Chi” energy force that travels throughout our neurological or meridian highways.   Where electrical-chemical energy flow can become blocked through illness, disease and injury and creates inflammation and neurological pain.  And when acupuncture needles are inserted at various points along these highways, energy flow that was once blocked can become unblocked.  And when that happens pain is relieved.

Self healing occurs by-way of many life energy and brain, body and spirit activation and lifestyle choices.

In various cultures the energy flowing through our neurological highways is not only known as Chi.  But can be seen or understood as life energy and cross-compared, or liken to Prana, life force, Spirit, subtle and vital energy, etc.  If you want to know more about these things simply google those terms on the Internet.

For me acupuncture worked, “However at first, I was baffled on exactly how.”

I can only explain it in the following manner.  “I think of my body with millions of electrical circuits where one has shorted somewhere, or was inflamed through illness or disease or injury and sending pain signals to the brain.  Whereas the pain signal can be temporarily or permanently relieved through a by-pass, or neighboring circuit… in effect – pain signal to the brain can be removed or neutralized.”  This does not mean your free of cellular disease or neurological damage.

“A relatable analogy would be similar to an electrical circuit that powers a lightbulb.”  If you take electrical current to earth ground instead of sending it to the brain-bulb or switch-ON for pain – In essence the circuit is dead, “SWITCH-OFF” and pain gone.

Western medicine defines, relates and applies acupuncture treatment in the following manner.

“Approximately 2,000 different acupuncture points lie along the body’s meridians. The idea behind acupuncture is that stimulating these points with acupuncture needles or pressure relieves obstructions in the flow of energy, enabling the body to heal.”

“In the Western view, acupuncture likely works by stimulating the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) to release chemicals called neurotransmitters and hormones. These chemicals dull pain, boost the immune system and regulate various body functions (Watson 2017).”

These concepts and principles are easy to visualize through my mind’s eye.  Since I have an electrical-mechanical background and physiological knowledge through undergraduate studies… my mind accepts both Eastern and Western acupuncture healing and pain relief relationship logic.  Regardless of whether Western medicine can fully explain through empirical data the exact healing agents on brain and body function… I accept it’s healing principles and believe in it.  “Belief is half the battle to curing what ails the mind, body and spirit.”  At least I believe this like many others.

Many scientists consider acupuncture a pseudoscience because it cannot be proven through a controlled lab environment why it works for some, not others and why it works at all.  I can completely understand the difficulty of creating a blind study where trial subjects wouldn’t know whether a needle was sticking them for example; while another group in the study was actually stuck.  Plus cause and pain level sensitivities is often subjective and not substantiated through medical diagnosis.

Exercise helps us to heal, stay fit and healthy. Yoga and Tie chi are said to provide similar benefits.  Trying something outside the mainstream to feel well is worth the endeavor.

I believe if you believe something is possible the psychosomatic (mind/body) meridian highway healing connection can be made to greater degree.  That is the portion of brain during meridian stimulation effectively releases electrical-chemical healing agents to a target area.

Understanding these connections and relationship allows those like myself (meditative-alternative medicine believer) to channel the acupuncture stimulant point to target and heal damaged cell tissues, including nerve pain.

I can tell you there are different techniques used by acupuncturists when getting stuck with tiny micro-thin needles.

Many years ago, I experienced two different styles of Chinese acupuncture.  A hard and soft style.  “Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the most common form of acupuncture studied and practiced in the United States.  Japanese style acupuncture takes a more subtle route than TCM.  Fewer and thinner needles are used with less stimulation (Acufinder.com 2017).”

For me, “during TMC treatment the needles were inserted deep into my low back and caused discomfort and aggravation during treatment.”  They were inserted fast and hit damaged nerves frequently with precision.  After needle insertion an electrical pulsating current was sent through wire leads attached to the needles – then stimulated the damaged neurons under the skin.  Eventually this treatment would reroute the pain signal away from the brains central nervous system.

During Japanese style acupuncture the needles were more delicately inserted and didn’t penetrate deep into the skin.  I didn’t feel any discomfort during these treatments.

When I first experienced acupuncture, the TMC needle insertion technique although painful seemed to turn-off a lot of pain centers in the brain for me.  After 10 sessions I called it good.  Although I considered TMC a success, it was during the tenth session a needle hit a sensitive nerve in the low back that caused me to jolt.  This was followed by a back spasm and a bit of cussing “Don’t judge… God that hurt bad.”  I did finish the session gritting my way through it and refrained from further cussing.

Thereafter and understandably so, I had fear of going back for more treatment.  I didn’t ask for another referral from my HMO.  Instead I sought out Japanese style acupuncture to help alleviate a little more pain – as I didn’t finish the referred 25 TMC sessions.

I increased fitness levels and further minimized pain aggravation during acupuncture treatment through aerobic pool exercise.

If you have a lot of nerve damage and areas of the body are pain-sensitive to touch – Japanese style preparation prior to needle insertion is a very good treatment protocol.

The preparation and process works like this: Very light massage, relaxation and suction cup may be used.  They are heated cups placed on skin surface and along meridian pathways.  When cooling cause a suction [or vacuum] – draws oxygenated blood to damaged tissue area to increase blood circulation and expedite healing process.

Thereafter electro stimulation via inserted needles may be applied.  This technique worked wonders to remove more back pain.  Needles were not only inserted in the low back, but other parts of the body to help relieve radiating nerve pain.

To this day my total body pain is very manageable and allows me to live life to the fullest.  I’ve not seen an acupuncturists for years.

I’ve read a few blogger sites on the benefits/to no benefits of using acupuncture.  The feelings on it is a mixed bag.  It’s considered by many who believe in Eastern medicine a natural science that can heal and alleviate pain and may/may not cure disease.  To Western medicine practitioners, many professionals and lay persons at best believe it’s a pseudoscience that’s falls into categories more like magic and faith healing.

Instead of trying to convince you acupuncture may work for you, I think it is best to leave the following thoughts and insight.

What secrets will mother nature reveal next.

Like Pranic healing – modern science does not understand and has no way to prove how acupuncture and life “Chi” energy actually heals and alleviates pain for some and not others.

Or how technique or application  could be improved to be effective 100% of the time for all.  Some would challenge brain capacity, function and control over the body’s self-healing connections have something to do with its effectiveness.

I’d agree “maybe some lack the connective brain function or capacity to accept or believe an alternative healing method outside of Western medicine could help.”  Therefore self-healing through meditation or acupuncture or Pranic healing, etc., won’t work.

Unfortunately unless science can unequivocally prove something… it is open to public scrutiny, personal disbelief and a failed opportunity for whom it could work if they simply believed.

But this should not limit people to reason how the impossible can become possible than believe.  Simply reflect on a few of man’s unbelievable achievements throughout history.

For example, it was impossible for man to fly, let alone sore through space and land on the moon.  Or, until Penicillin as an effective antibiotic was discovered.  Many with serious disease through infection were doomed to die with no hope of a cure.  During historical times, cultural and scientific positions based on beliefs could not think out side of any box.  But todays anti-aging and healing science appears to know no limit of possibilities.

“For the self-healing and alternative medicine believer – Meditative and Spiritual untapped brain function has the healing energy capacity necessary to cure what ails us.”  [MirrorAthlete]

I agree like many of you “science does not know everything about brain capacity and function and self-healing.”  It has long been said people on earth only use 10% of their brain capacity.   This too is controversial due to opposing views of natural selection.  Since the brain tissue has metabolically evolved throughout time, to lose 90% of capacity would have catastrophic consequences on the human regulation of body function…  What if brain capacity increased 1-2% up to, or over that 10% without body function affliction.  I believe this has already been accomplished by faith healers, spiritual mediators and protégées to name a few?  “Think outside that box!”  There’s no scientific proof using more brain capacity to increase IQ or self-heal is harmful to health.

In relating to this line of reasoning – acupuncture and panic healing may open a 2% healing mind-body-spiritual opportunity to increase brain capacity and bodily function to heal damaged cellular tissue and get well.   Just because science can’t prove how brain capacity and body function coordinate above and beyond what natural selection scholars, the medical community and scientists can prove – doesn’t mean self-healing and alternative medicine doesn’t work.

Since most aren’t educated and trained in meditative and alternative medicine and therapeutic practices, if open to the wellness and healing possibilities allow someone schooled in it to help.

Do what you enjoy pain free. Believe!

If you have acute, chronic or severe pain regardless of what the cause, what have you got to lose?  Give acupuncture a try?  What doesn’t work for others may work for you?  You may have the ability to unlock the Chi force hidden within part of your untapped brain capacity reserve and make use of it like I did to restore pain free mobility function.

I believe one day science will prove through empirical trials how and why acupuncture works for some patients and not others.  Then hopefully educate everyone on how to tap this self-healing power.

Like Einstein’s Theory of Relativity “Time was no longer uniform and absolute.” Physics could no longer be understood as space by itself, hence space and time was also dependent on velocity.  Until this time Isaac Newton’s physics and astronomy stood as a 200-year-old theory of mechanics.

Acupuncture is thousands of years old.  But has only been accepted in Western medicine and studied for decades.  What has Western medicine yet to discover about the practice as applied to individual life force healing energy?  Will it take 200 years or more to discover all of it’s secrets?  Who knows.

If you want to try acupuncture and your primary care physician won’t refer you, or it’s not covered in your health insurance there are 3 things you can do.

During your employer annual health insurance selections – pick a provider or policy that covers acupuncture [most HMO policies offer it].  Or, if you have coverage for this service, but a physician won’t refer for whatever reason, request a new primary care physician.  Or request of your primary care physician a referral to a physiatrist.  A physiatrist is a pain management medical [doctor-specialist] and will likely refer you to an acupuncturist if you request it.

Itchy Oily-Dry Flakey Skin and Scalp

If you suffer from a rash that also produces flaky, or dry oily, or thicken skin you may have been diagnosed by a dermatologist with seborrhea, eczema or psoriasis.  Many skin conditions occur as a result of

an overactive immune system where internal or external environment toxin and allergen triggers cause the inflamed and irritated skin condition.

Skin inflammation (dermatitis) is often misdiagnosed as Seborrhea Dermatitis caused from toxicity issues within the body.  Seborrhea is commonly called dandruff and the most common form of dermatitis in adults.

Seborrhea can present itself in the form of thick oily or dry skin on the scalp, armpits, face, or red patches under the breasts.  Even though the skin appears dry, it is also oily at the same time. Most moisturizing creams on the market will only make the dry scales redder and more irritable, usually only smoothing out the scaly disorder.

“Treatment options include application of selenium sulfide, pyrithione zinc or ketoconazole-containing shampoos, topical ketoconazole cream or terbinafine solution, topical sodium sulfacetamide and topical corticosteroids.  ‘Hygiene issues play a key role in controlling seborrheic dermatitis. Frequent cleansing with soap removes oils from affected areas and improves seborrhea. Patients should be counseled that good hygiene must be a lifelong commitment. Outdoor recreation, especially during summer, will also improve seborrhea, although caution should be taken to avoid sun damage (Johnson and Nunley 2000).”

Dandruff is a form of seborrhea dermatitis that results from neither too little moisture, nor too much oil. The cause of this type of skin dermatitis is unknown.  The positive news on this, dermatologists do have medication for this condition.  Medicated shampoos and topical creams are prescribed at first to avoid health risk typically associated with orals.  However in severe skin symptom cases, the benefits out weight the risks of medication use.

Like seborrhea; eczema and psoriasis… the exact cause of disease is unknown. However a common denominator appears to trigger each surface rash and inflammation and skin condition event.  And appears to be the result of an overactive response of the immune system. Whereas a genetic predisposition to sensitivities of allergen or chemical toxin consumed, absorbed or inhaled appear to trigger these skin conditions.

“The most common type of eczema is known as atopic dermatitis, or atopic eczema. Atopic refers to a group of diseases with an often inherited tendency to develop other allergic conditions, such as asthma and hay fever.”  The itching can begin before the rash appears.  Then the skin can become a thickened, dry crusted scaly layer.  These skin area effected “most commonly appears on the face, back of the knees, wrists, hands, or feet. It may also affect other areas as well,” including the scalp (WebMD 2016).”

Atopic Dermatitis is a common form of eczema.  Atopic means having a predisposition and reaction to irritants or allergens upon contact which causes a hypersensitive skin condition, or inflammation to the skin. “The skin gets red, itchy, and weepy because it touches something that the immune system knows is foreign, like poison ivy.  ‘This condition results as a unique combination of three factors: first, environmental influences, such as irritants and potential allergens; second, your immune system and, in particular, your immune system’s sensitivity to irritants in the environment; and, third, your family history of atopic dermatitis (Healthgrades Editorial Staff 2014).”

Tips to avoid eczema contact dermatitis: Avoid sweating and overheating, wearing of wooly scratchy clothes and cover up when working in the yard or out in the woods. Then change clothes and remove vegetative irritant oils by washing clothes. Moisturize effected skin often and stay dry.

Psoriasis on the other hand can look a lot like a chronic case of contact dermatitis or eczema.  However it is different in that the hard skin plaques begin forming under the skin.

“When your body has plaque psoriasis, your immune system is overactive, triggering skin inflammation and causing skin cells to be produced faster than normal. New skin cells are pushed to the skin’s surface in 3 to 4 days instead of the usual 28 to 30.  ‘But your body can’t shed the new skin cells at that fast of a rate.  So while new skin cells are being produced, the old, dead skin cells pile up on top of each other.  ‘As more and more new skin cells are produced rapidly, the old skin cells are pushed to the surface, forming the thick, red, itchy, flaky patches known as plaques (AbbVie 2015).”

Since dermatitis acute and chronic conditions have a connection to weaken immune system… through identification and avoidance of toxin or allergen triggers, skin inflammation and irritation may abate, or go away completely. To help assist in determining what might be the cause of exasperating a dermatitis disease, I’ve provided a few former client examples who identified triggers that caused a dermatitis reaction. And after identification and avoidance of the irritant trigger the symptoms were greatly alleviated or disappeared.

For example, I had a client that worked within the construction industry.  He had what appeared to be dry flaky and itchy skin on various parts of his body.  His doctor first diagnosed him with heat rash, than hives and at one point thought shingles before referring to a dermatologist.   The treatment prescribed prior to seeing the dermatologist was Benadryl and anti-itch cream.

After further diagnosis from a medical specialist the identified irritant trigger was a negative reaction to heavy detergents used to wash his clothes.  That allergic reaction became more severe while perspiring throughout the day.  The anti-itch medications kept the itching at bay but had an unwanted drowsy-side effect.  The lesson learned, seek a referral to a dermatologist if your primary care physician repeatedly prescribes medications that don’t resolve inflamed skin irritation, or symptoms worsen, or won’t go away.

Another past client had a bad skin reaction to something consumed.  During medical history consultation and while developing a customized fitness program, the client talked about a skin rash that mostly manifested on her face.  I did noticed her face would get blotchy with red spots then dry up and flake on certain days.  After doing a nutrition assessment I identified a trigger toxin.  She was allergic to a brand of red wine with high sulfites in it.

What is the cause of your skin rash? Wine, beer, pizza ingredients?

Although she drank infrequently it had more to do with the quality of the wine than how much she drank.  The rash condition on her face was observed Monday through Wednesday after having drinks with friends over the weekend.  Then dissipate Thursday and Friday.  Her doctor had prescribed hydrocortisone and Benadryl to alleviate the symptoms.  After she changed to a more organic wine selection the skin condition never reappeared.

“Sulfites are preservatives used in some drinks, foods and occasionally medication.  Sulfites can cause allergy like reactions (intolerances), most commonly asthma symptoms in those with underlying asthma, sometimes allergic rhinitis (hay fever) like reactions, occasionally urticaria (hives) and very rarely, anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction).  Wheezing is the most common reaction.Most people with sulfite sensitivity do not have positive allergy tests and there is currently no reliable blood or skin allergy test to test for sulfite intolerances. ‘At times, it may be important to undertake a supervised food challenge with sulfites under medical supervision to confirm or exclude sensitivity (ASCIA 2014).”

Another client had a skin reaction to a particular clothing material.  Most don’t know clothing and bedding materials are a number one contributor of contact dermatitis.  “Read clothing labels and try to avoid synthetic materials such as Rayon, Nylon, Polyester, Acrylic, Acetate or Triacetate as much as possible. Also avoid no-iron, wrinkle free and preshrunk items.’ “Even used clothing purchased from thrift stores such as Goodwill may be sprayed with some skanky chemical before they’re put up for sale. Wash and dry them at least once. Stay away from dry cleaners that use perchloroethylene. There are some that don’t (Tags 2012).”

Toxins, allergens and bacteria may also be the cause of unhealthy hair and nail conditions.  If you are concerned about these things also consider the nutrients your body may be lacking.  Try taking a daily vitamin mineral to boost immune system.

What irritant trigger might your immune system be overacting to?   The first thing you might consider before making medical referral decisions and probably the most important step is to talk to your mother, father, siblings and cousins.  Why?

Chances are they’ve likely dealt with a similar skin condition and know what their allergic or sensitive too.

Genetics can almost always predict relative immune sensitivity and preventative treatment solutions.  Therefor similar lifestyle changes recommended by family and relatives may provide relief and abate an inflamed skin condition.  There are many cases in which once lifestyle habits or avoidance of irritant triggers are avoided, unhealthy skin conditions including hair and nails clear up.  However this is not always the case dependent upon genetic makeup and disease.  Chronic cases will require referral to medical specialists to receive specialized treatment that may persist throughout a lifetime but can be managed through medical intervention.

If you are having severe and chronic skin irritant symptoms request a referral to a dermatologist immediately to diagnose and treat the symptoms. Thereafter start looking at diet and environment to determine what might exasperate inflammation, itching or cause skin condition to worsen.

Now imagine all the environmental toxin possibilities of things that could cause a skin irritant and inflammation and bad skin condition.  Then begin the process of removing suspected irritant allergens or toxins from your environment.  Try removing hygiene, laundry, home cleaning, and clothing fabric and highly processed food products with toxic chemicals and replace them.  Go as organic and whole food as possible for a period of time and then see if there is a difference in symptoms.

Keep in mind, like sulfite triggers in wine, the foods you consume have hyper-palatable food chemical trigger allergens.   For example, High Fructose Corn Syrup, MSG (Monosodium Glutamate], Aspartame, partially hydrogenated oils, etc., (Sherpa 2010).  Many food chemicals like these are also known to cause diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Make a list of consumables you suspect your body may be allergic to with the help of medical advisement.  Then through time, you may be able to isolate and remove what triggers inflammatory skin, poor hair and nail condition.

You can also request a doctor perform a skin allergy test to determine what you’re allergic to.  The doctor may order allergy skin tests if you have: hay fever, hives and skin rashes, etc.  “The skin prick test may also be used to diagnose food allergies.  Intradermal tests are not used to test for food allergies because of high false-positive results and the danger of causing a severe allergic reaction (NIH 2016).”

By living a healthy lifestyle that includes clean green home and hygiene products and balanced whole foods you provide a healthier environment for the immune system.  These changes will decrease the toxic load on the body which bodes well for healthy skin, hair and nails.  And of course this allows anyone to live life to the fullest while comfortable within their own skin.

The principled fitness techniques and context within our 1st book publication, due 1st quarter of 2015 is unlike any other fitness, health, and nutrition, lifestyle change book you’ve ever seen or read.

It is now in a final publisher development format.  It is loaded with unique personal and fitness consultant perspectives, client and other relative newsworthy stories, self-help forms, tables and satire graphic depictions that support each chapter’s unique content and personality.

These things and more provides the reader with a unique entertainment experience while learning consumer and self-help fitness skillsets and techniques that can be used for many years after the book’s released.  The book in many ways was developed and designed to be a timeless fitness trainer and programming how to book.

The MirrorAthlete Science and applied fitness consulting philosophy evolved through an  exercise science discipline and lifetime fitness consulting practice from private business and military service experiences.  Which included, fitness center and recreational management, consulting and medical health services derived from two military service careers.  One in the Army and the other in the Air Force.

The content within this book is not hype and provides a scientific, consumer wisdom and balanced fitness programming approaches that can be applied by anyone who desires to meet a specific fitness, nutrition and lifestyle goal(s).

Then within ending each chapter there’s the authors ongoing personal fitness challenge that’s relative to each chapter’s content.  In doing so Marc shares how he applied this information on himself during injury and disease.  Thereby those with physical and mental adversity challenges can relate and understand how using the same tool box can benefit them.   No matter the fitness or health condition, when mobility exercise and balanced nutrition relative to the individual is applied, increased fitness levels and overall quality of life can be improved and experienced.
