Weight Loss through Body Chemical Activation

Any aerobic activity will release addictive body chemicals to burn more body fat and benefit health and fitness levels.

Updated 15 November 2018, Marc Woodard

Any type of physical activity will stimulate the body’s natural release of feel good chemicals to help you lose weight and experience daily wellbeing.

It is the activation of muscle metabolism during low impact aerobics exercise that will activate these feel good chemicals – while simultaneously melting away body fat.

Once you relate to and apply the information that follows – it only takes a little will power to begin chipping away at your weight loss goals and experience wellbeing daily.

The advantage of  low intensity aerobics exercise is it stimulates both the fat burning metabolic engine and activates addictive feel good body chemicals. Unlike high intensity strength and muscle bulking development; and high intensity aerobic exercise – these activities more or less suppress the fat burning engine to varying degree.

Walk to a destination place and fish for dinner.  “Thumbs down no fish.”

What many consumers don’t know is during low-intensity aerobic exercise the muscles metabolism prefers to burn fat fuel.  That’s right the metabolic energy needed to walk over a period of time prefers stored body fat to convert to glucose to fuel the large muscles in the legs and buttocks area.

The same muscles during high-intensity aerobics exercise like running and high impact aerobic dance for instance prefer mostly stored liver and muscle glycogen fuel to convert it to blood glucose [sugar].

The harder you train muscles in the body the less body fat you burn.  That’s a major reason high intensity exercise makes you crave carbohydrates after you’ve finished the workout. And for that reason – IS the reason those folks have a hard time losing excess body weight.

The point is, you don’t have to train hard to lose body fat and excess body weight.

The second point I want to make, regardless of training intensity the body will produce chemicals to addict you to exercise whether your building muscle, increasing muscular endurance, or toning the body.  But if you’re consuming a stimulant, diuretic or anabolic steroid or heavy herb concentrate supplement to “fast pace” any fitness goal, the natural chemicals released by the body will be suppressed and you’ll become addicted to an unnatural chemical supplement that may increase health risk.  You’ll may look and feel good [loss weight, or build muscle, etc.] for a while; but then bad at some point in time…

Unnatural fitness results through the use of fads, gimmicks, supplements and herbal diets are often short lived because their not sustainable habits. In the long run when applying these tactics to achieve a fitness goal – “too often,” may eventually break the fat burning (known as yo-yo dieting), or hormonal metabolism and increase health risk; then cause excessive weight gain.

Eat more healthy whole foods. Cut back on processed foods.

Once you connect how exercise and healthy whole foods dieting increases body chemical activation versus an unnatural fad-dietary course, you’ll better understand there is no good reason to “fast pace” a fitness result (e.g., weight loss).  Thereafter you can avoid the pit falls of unstainable lifestyle habits and ill-health consequences.

The 3 major chemicals the brain/body releases naturally during exercise and supports sustainable healthy weight loss…

1) Adrenaline a neurotransmitter and hormone produced by the adrenalin gland just above the kidneys, also known as norepinephrine and epinephrine (provides attention focus in brain).  Together these chemicals activate your fight or flight stimulation designed to get the body out of a stressful situation, or survive an injury scenario.  It acts as a natural pain killer, boosts oxygen and glucose fuel to brain, muscles and suppresses depression.

Walk your dog to a neat destination place you enjoy. Both receive the natural feel good brain-body benefits.

2)   Dopamine is produced and synthesized in the brain which boosts positive behavior, cognition, motor activity, motivation, sleep, mood, learning and attention.

3)  Serotonin is synthesized within the CNS (Central Nervous System).  This chemical is also found in many mushrooms, plants, fruits and vegetables.

Research shows Serotonin plays an important role in liver regeneration and induces cell division throughout the body (important for repair and healing of the body).  Serotonins role as a neurotransmitter of the brain is to modulate anger, mood, aggression, sleep, sexuality, appetite and metabolism.

Walk the beach and discover cool things.

People are motivated to move or walk for different reasons.  Once you find something that motivates you to move more… you’ll enjoy the natural brain-body feel good chemicals; and want to repeat the low impact aerobics exercise experience daily.

Continuous low impact aerobic exercise like walking, hiking, dancing or riding a bike will release those feel good chemicals and cause “for most” an addictive habit to form – whereas you’ll want to continue the course.  It will take approximately 1-2 weeks to become addicted to daily low-impact walk habit for example.

A little alcohol is okay. Over indulging is a bad habit.

Everyone differs slightly in metabolism, exercise and activity interest, intensity, frequency and duration of exercise activity daily.  For many daily low impact aerobics exercise will cause an instant craving to continue the course.

To maximize the odds of achieving a fitness, health or wellness goal four behavioral habits must be addressed if applicable.  1)  Stop substance abuse.  2)  Eat a balanced and nutritious diet.  3) Allow your brain-body the time to become addicted to the body’s natural feel good chemicals released through low-impact aerobics exercise activity.  4)  Remove yourself from unhealthy and stressful environments.

Bike, explore and get fit.

The increased exercise activities experienced by former clients did not require a lot of will power to perform low-impact aerobics exercise to achieve significant fitness results.

But it did require some lifestyle changes.

For example, when beginning a daily walk program it doesn’t’ requires much will power to get started.  But it does require a commitment.  In other words, the excuse I often hear people use to avoid any form of exercise, “I don’t have the time.”  But if you can make the time you’ll lose weight and feel better almost immediately once you start.  Then become addicted to it within 2-5 days.

The best New Year’s fitness resolution advice I could give anyone, as I’ve done with so many past clients… start a daily walk habit.  Walking is the best low impact fat burning activity whose large muscles prefer fat stored energy and it’s easy on weight bearing joints.

Walk and capture nature in a picture.

I assure you, if you walk a little each day, you’ll begin to release more of those feel good chemicals.  Then body fat will decrease and you’ll have more energy and feel lighter on your feet.  You’ll begin to look and feel better in no time.

If you’ve been sedentary for a long time, walking at first may seem uncomfortable and maybe feel unnatural.  But if you can work up to 15 or 30 minutes or more each day you’ll have significant fitness results success.

Keep this in mind.  Before the automobile how did we survive?

As hunters and gatherers our bodies are designed to get work done by walking.  Walking is a very natural and a primal thing we’re designed to do for a lifetime. I guarantee – if you maintain your walking muscle metabolism you’ll become addicted to sustaining it, and in return for your efforts your body will allow you to live life to the fullest.

Walk to the grocery store to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables.

I’ve had plenty of overweight clients walk or ride a stationary bike for a year before they achieved their weight loss fitness goal.  Thereafter participated in a competitive long distance walk, hike, jog or ran or biked a marathon event.  They never imagined themselves capable of doing anything like it.  They simply believed it possible because they could relate to the muscle metabolism and feel the chemical activation truth working within their brain-body.

Walk a county fair.

Be excited about all the possibilities that lie in front of you and enjoy life to the fullest by maintaining a daily low impact aerobics exercise habit!   Now go get addicted to the natural feel good drugs produced by your own body and reap the ideal body weight, longevity, wellness and health benefits!

Personality Disorders, Treatment and Homeless Connection

14 10 2018
Healthy relationships are can be challenging to maintain. A personality disorder multiplies that challenge exponentially.

Maintaining a healthy relationships is challenging enough under the best circumstances. A personality disorder  exponentially multiplies the risk of relational loss.

Updated:  14 October 2018, by Marc Woodard

Personality disorders (PD) are long-term chronic patterns of erratic behavior that will likely require a lifetime of care.  Often this is a result of people who don’t seek behavioral therapy and drug intervention early on.

Or are misdiagnosed and treated irrelevantly.  Or don’t comply with prescribed treatment program(s).

Chronic PD behaviors are also known to lead to homelessness.  Especially when the individual is drug addicted and believes self-medication is the solution to their problems.  This connection is further explained in review of the 10 personality disorders as defined below.

Chronic and complex personality disorders make it more likely alcohol and drug abuse will exponentially escalate abnormal behavior and lead to self-harm, homelessness and jail time.  The complexity of abnormal behaviors further challenges medical providers to assess an accurate diagnosis and treatment prescription program.  Especially when mental health protocols are not followed.

“There aren’t any drugs approved for the treatment of personality disorders.  However, certain types of prescription medications might be helpful in reducing various personality disorder symptoms… (Carey 2012).”

PD Behavioral Characteristics

When does a PD begin and who does it affect.

When does a PD begin and who does it affect.

It appears this disorder has a connection to child abuse and neglect.  But abuse need not occur to develop a behavioral disorder as a child or homeless adult.

People with PD’s are often unaware their thoughts and behaviors are not normal and inappropriate.  And once confronted a problem exists – generally little responsibility is taken for it.

The avoidance of seeking medical treatment for a personality disorder eventually results in negative impacts on relationships, social environment and holding a job.

This is because PD mood swings cause behavior to become unstable and irrational.  Where relationships tend to be like a roller coaster ride and feelings swing from love to hate, or trust to distrust, or rational to irrational rather abruptly.  These feelings are often connected to real or imaged abandonment situations that cause an avoidance of letting someone get too close.  And that distancing causes antisocial, obsessive, detached, hostile or needy behaviors.

During personal crisis such as feelings of abandonment, harmful behaviors may ensue, e.g., wrist cutting, over dose, binge eating, uncalled for and inappropriate anger, impulse buying, substance abuse, shoplifting, unable to cope with being alone, unhealthy sexual relationships, emptiness and boredom coupled with anxiety and depression.

Currently there are ten classified Personality Disorder Types within 3 clusters:

Cluster A_PD (Type: Odd and Eccentric Behavior)

Paranoid Personality Disorder (PPD)

Distrust and suspicious perceptions prevail over trust of others.  Those who encounter this personality type may communicate innocently enough with them.  However the paranoid personality often interprets others’ intention and environment or events incorrectly.  This incorrect read is often taken as a personal threat and harmful to relationships.  It causes them to hold grudges, distrust people and become hostile to people who don’t deserve the cold shoulder.  Close friendships are uncommon and a cold disposition in attitude is the norm.  Early childhood trauma may be a cause, and is more common in males (Martel 2015).

Schizoid Personality Disorder (SPD)

They are detached from close relationships and lack motivation and drive to be with others or build relationships.  They have a limited range of emotions and require little to no approval or attention from others.  For the most part they have a persistent indifference of interests that make relationship building near impossible.  Since the social skills are lacking a secretive lifestyle preference to remain in solitude and away from others seems to be the norm (Glunk 2015).

Schizotypal Personality Disorder (STPD)

An eccentric personality type with severe anxieties in a social sense and lacks an emotional response.  They display paranoia and anxiety around people and have unusual beliefs outside of conventional norms.  They are somewhat a loner and feel more comfortable living in solitude.  At times may appear to others as delusional due to strange thoughts and behavior.  The mannerisms are often bizarre by-way of socially nervous tendencies with atypical communicative speech patterns.  Which include talking to themselves and hard to follow rambling and complicated speech patterns.  “While STPD is on the schizophrenia spectrum, people with STPD don’t usually experience psychosis (Martel 2015).”  Psychosis is defined as a loss of contact with reality.

Cluster B Personality Disorder (Type Dramatic and Erratic)

Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD, or ASPD)

With the breakdown of traditional famly values and structure an increase in PD's occured.

With the breakdown of traditional family structure and values an increase in PD’s and homelessness arose.

The APD characteristics display manipulative behavior, lack of conscience and care for others and adept at manipulation.  To be charming is a ruse to get what they want to self-gratify and feel no guilt over the deceit.  “While statistics indicate that 50%-80% of incarcerated individuals have been found to have antisocial personality disorder, only 15% of those convicted criminals have been shown to have the more severe antisocial personality disorder type of psychopathy (Dryden-Edwards and Stoppler 2016).”

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

Behavioral irregularities are often displayed by abrupt and unpredictable mood changes and outbursts.  Self-image issues and high fear sensitivities to rejection and abandonment make it difficult to maintain relationships.  Destructive behaviors such as suicide threats and attempts are often associated with this disorder.  “The diagnosis of BPD is frequently missed and a misdiagnosis of BPD has been shown to delay and/or prevent recovery.  Bipolar disorder is one example of a misdiagnosis as it also includes mood instability. There are important differences between these conditions but both involve unstable moods.  For the person with bipolar disorder, the mood changes exist for weeks or even months. The mood changes in BPD are much shorter and can even occur within the day (NEA 2016).”

 Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)

This personality type feels a need to be center of attention, lacks empathy, and displays an egocentric behavior and feels full of self-importance.  Also sees themselves above others in appearance or intellectual endowment [whether true or not] has a grandiose sense of entitlement and believes he/she is special, or falls into a high class or status of people.  “Because personality disorders describe long-standing and enduring patterns of behavior, they are most often diagnosed in adulthood.  It is uncommon for them to be diagnosed in childhood or adolescence, because a child or teen is under constant development, personality changes and maturation. However, if it is diagnosed in a child or teen, the features must have been present for at least 1 year (Bressert 2016).”

Grandiosity is closely associated with NPD.  It is considered a personality disorder.  Where one feels entitled, is self-absorbed and lacks empathy for others.  “Grandiosity occurs when a person has an inflated self-esteem, believe they have special powers, spiritual connections, or religious relationships.  When grandiosity is severe, the person may be delusional about his or her capabilities (Droogendijk 2009).”

Chronic PD's often break up relationships. While distrust, anxiety and paranoia anti-social loner behaviors increase.

Chronic PD’s often cause close relationships to never begin. Distrust, anxiety and paranoia increase anti-social loner behaviors.

He/she has an unrealistic sense of superiority and are often referred to as narcissist, or Bipolar and seem boastful and rude.  They feel a sense of uniqueness which can only be matched intellectually and understood by a handful of people.  And since they feel superior to everyone else they have distain for those they see inferior to them.  “In the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the presence of grandiosity is used in combination with several other symptoms to confirm a diagnosis of bipolar.  This symptom also occurs in children with early onset bipolar disorder (Purse 2016).”

Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD)

This type of personal disorder is obsessed with appearance and acts sexually provocative with excessive attention seeking tendencies.  They desire to be at center stage to get reassurance and approval.  And are overly sensitive to criticism and disapproval which causes inappropriate and unwanted behavior.  Such as an over the top melodramatic outburst and manipulative behaviors which push people away.  The outbursts are coupled with a consistent flood of emotional storms that reap havoc on romantic, social and for that matter, inability to solidify any meaningful and long term personal commitments and relationships.

Since this personality type has a low tolerance toward delayed gratification, they often blame others for their shortcomings.  Although negative attention may seem shallow to others, it is better than no attention at all for this person.  “Histrionic personality disorder can improve with talk therapy and sometimes medicines.  Left untreated, it can cause problems in people’s personal lives and prevent them doing their best at work (Berger 2014).”

Cluster C (Personality Disorder:  Type Anxious and Fearful)

How much time would be spent counting the different colored flowers before you could move on.

How much time would be lost if you couldn’t control an obsession to count the different colored flowers in front of you before you moved on.

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)

This disorder is displayed by orderly perfection and preoccupation to detail that causes a lack of flexibility with regard to healthy lifestyle and time balance.   The disorder is also a contributor of workaholic tendencies.  Fears of losing control over orderly perfection is the compulsion which causes the irrational obsession to continue its course.  And this interferes with getting things done that matter.

Or what would you do if you couldn't more forward until all cloud formations represented an image. I.e., looks like a head with ear wings.

Or what would you do if you couldn’t more forward until all cloud formations made sense. E.g., looks like a head with ear wings.  Ridiculous… not to someone with a complex mix of PD traits.

“Most professionals subscribe to a biopsychosocial model of causation — that is, the causes of are likely due to biological and genetic factors, social factors (such as how a person interacts in their early development with their family and friends and other children), and psychological factors (the individual’s personality and temperament, shaped by their environment and learned coping skills to deal with stress) (Bressert 2016).”

Avoidant Personality Disorder (APD)

Family playing at beach lake

Personality disorders often begin during childhood and not diagnosed until adulthood. Fear of loss, anxiety and unacceptance from others begin irregular and erratic thoughts and behavioral patterns early on in life.

Fears rejections and feeling of inadequacy in front of others, but wants desperately to be accepted.  Very self-conscious and avoids social group settings and situations when possible.  Jobs with little human interaction are preferred.  “Avoidant personality disorder (APD) is usually first noticed in early adulthood and is present in a variety of situations. ‘APD is treated in much the same way as social anxiety disorder.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy, social skills training, group therapy, and medication have all been shown to have some impact on the disorder.  However, it is sometimes difficult for people with APD to trust their therapist enough to complete treatment (Cuncic 2016).”

Dependent Personality Disorder (DPD)

The need to be taken care of to meet emotional and physical needs and fear of abandonment and being alone cause’s clinginess.  The reliance on others to make important life decisions is needed for advice and reassurance.  If relational trusts are broken, suicidal tendencies and acts increase.

Mental Health Treatment and Homelessness Connection

Daytime drifter and homeless shelters occur in not so obvious settings. But blend well into seasonal beach activities.

Daytime drifter and homeless shelters occur in not so obvious settings. But blend well with seasonal outdoor recreational activities.

A combination of mental health and drug prescription [psychotherapy] treatment plan includes exploration of inappropriate behavioral causation that triggers out-of-control feelings and thoughts.

Once childhood or adult abuse-history connects to current social, or environmental, or personal stress-triggers that cause erratic and undesirable behavior; a relative diagnosis and treatment plan is prescribed to manage it.

However there are caveats to this approach.  Success of treatment is dependent on accurate diagnosis and wiliness of patient to opt-in, trust their medical care provider and follow the treatment plan.

For instance, “The treatment that’s best for you depends on your particular personality disorder, its severity and your lifestyle situation.  Often, a team approach is needed to make sure all of your psychiatric, medical and social needs are met.  Because personality disorders are long-standing, treatment may require months or years (MayoClinc 2016).”  In severe cases when someone can’t care for themselves, or present harm to others, admittance to psychiatric care is the process towards stabilization.  Thereafter may lead to successful outpatient treatment.

Recall, I stated the individual has to opt-in to receive mental health resources and follow the treatment plan.

Unfortunately for too many, the inability to take responsibility for a personality disorder problem causes a revolving door that does not adequately help a chronic mental health condition especially when connected to drug addiction.  For those who choose to self-medicate and deal with a chronic personality disorder… many of those people are homeless.

The treatment protocol for the mentally unstable homeless person who is a public nuisance and is drug addicted and breaks the law doesn’t receive the mental health resources they need.  Although homelessness is not a crime and not all homeless people commit crimes… personality disorders are found within a large sector of the homeless population.  Many have all the signs and symptoms of PD’s.  That is they have fears and anxieties and paranoia associated with anti-social lifestyle which leads to obsessions and depression and illegal self-medication habits.  These behavioral habits amplify the PD stress-triggers which cause inappropriate behavior.

When the mentally-ill are caught for inappropriate behavior or breaking the law to sustain their habits, short-term jail time or out-patient psychiatric care is served.  Jail time release is often conditional on probation agreements which are almost always broken by those with complex personality disorders and drug abuse.

Homeless people with a complex PD and drug addiction history don’t have the mental faculties or resources to comply with orderly and civil penalty processes like the rest of us.  So the sequence is repeated costing tax payers dearly as the revolving door to the homeless is a reactive civil penalty process as opposed to a proactive mental health treatment program.

Community must come together to find proactive solutions to deal with the homeless problem.

Community must come together to find proactive solutions to deal with the homeless PD and drug addiction problem.

There is no good answer for the homeless that suffer with personality disorders and/or drug addiction.  Not until society determines they want to be part of the solution.  And that solution must provide the comprehensive mental health treatment, public transportation and sheltered resources, etc., needed to get on with their lives.  I regress, moving on…

Medications may include stabilizers to help balance mood swings and impulses, or anti-depression medications to help reduce feelings of hopelessness and irritability.

If a patient has lost touch with reality then anti-psychotic drugs are prescribed.  Anti-anxiety medications are to help reduce anxieties.  But for some these drugs can lead to impulsive behavior.  For this reason their avoided when diagnosed with other types of personality disorders.

Recommendation if a PD disorder is suspect – Get diagnosed and treated by a medical professional if you, or a friend or loved one suffers from a personality disorder that now causes out-of-control behavior, drug addiction and homelessness.

Common treatment programs for any one of the 10 diagnosed personality disorders listed above may require a combination of the following types of therapy treatment by a behavioral therapist and/or phycologist, etc., : On-going Group, one-on-one psychotherapy [includes mental health and prescription protocol], behavioral-social and drug addiction therapy, etc.

The Thyroid a Powerful Weight Regulating Gland

22 09 2018

Updated 22 September 2018

The thyroid is a small gland in the neck no bigger than a buckeye butterfly.  But this glands hormone also influences other hormone producing glands which have much to do with our weight and other important metabolic interactions and bodily functions.  Just because these glands are small, does not mean they are insignificant.

Walk More to Burn Additional Calories

It is seen through patient and animal research that hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland) can cause many types of problems:  weight gain, depression, sluggishness, fatigue, bad mood, unhealthy appearance, impotence, water retention that adds to excess weight and cellulite, pear-shaped figure, infertility, PMS, hardening of the arteries, cystic breasts/ovaries (including breast/ovary cancer), irritability, bad complexion, puffiness under the chin, forgetfulness, irritability, apathy, dry skin, intolerance to cold, enlargement of the thyroid and unhealthy hair, nails and teeth.

If you have hypothyroidism to the degree where one quarter of the thyroid hormone thyroxin is produced, you may also suffer from chronic fatigue.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, hyperthyroidism causes an overactive thyroid gland condition that has the opposite effect on the body’s metabolism.  The “hyper” condition speeds up the metabolic process, causing underweight and hyperactive tendencies.

A more serious disorder from an underactive thyroid is a goiter (swelling in the neck area).  This occurs because the thyroids enlarge to compensate for lack of iodine in the diet.  However, a goiter can occur, even if you’re not iodine deficient.  This swelling or enlargement of the thyroid glands is also known as Graves Disease.  Regardless of whether you have a hypo/hyper thyroid condition, both conditions untreated can become a life threatening situation.

Before I get more into the meat of the matter let’s first understand what trace mineral stimulates the thyroids hormone “thyroxin” secretion.   A very important mineral is iodine.  There is also another one needed that works with iodine to manufacture the thyroxin hormone.  And that mineral is Tyrosine, an amino acid.  Luckily Tyrosine can be consumed through many types of high-protein foods such as chicken, milk, cheese, beans, bananas, soy products, peanuts, almonds, fish, turkey, etc.  Iodine, along with tyrosine is required to produce a normalized balance of the thyroxin hormone to stabilize our caloric burning furnace.

Spoil your children in moderation. Walk and share fun exercise activities with them.

There is a TSH (Thyroid-Stimulation Hormone) test that tells a treating physician if your thyroid is producing proper amounts of thyroxin hormone to keep your metabolic system balanced.  The test determines if your thyroid is working correctly through reading TSH levels in the blood.   This stimulator hormone is produced by the pituitary gland.  So as the pituitary gland slows down within the metabolic system it releases more TSH to signal “speeding” up the thyroids production of thyroxin.  This test can determine proper levels of TSH hormone in the blood.  The TSH hormone release is directly related to many interconnecting metabolic processes.  If all other metabolic processes are working correctly, the thyroid hormone release stimulated by TSH should normalize all metabolic functions which impact weight loss/gain and mitigate other disorders.  But if too little, or too much TSH is produced than the test will show ranges from under/over active and normal thyroid gland.

Normal TSH test scores will be between 0.4 and 2.5.  A low score of 0-0.4 is hyperthyroidism.  And if the score is between 2.5 and 4, this means there is risk for hypothyroidism.  Anything higher can lead to a major health concern.  Many doctors will resist treating patients until they hit a 10.  This is basically due to the delicate balance and interactions these hormones and chemical exchange relationships have on the entire metabolic system.  Nevertheless, if your measurement is at 4 or above, or below 2.5, you should discuss a treatment course with your medical specialist.

Although your thyroid only requires a hundred thousandth of a percentage of your body weight in iodine (150 micrograms daily – the best sources of iodine comes from seaweed, onions, seafood and salt); without it the thyroid cannot function.  If you don’t have enough of this mineral, you gain weight.  But if you get enough of it in your diet, adding more through supplementation will do absolutely no good because the glands function is balanced, or better known as “normalized effect”   That is, if your thyroid is functioning normal, iodine will not help because the thyroid is already normalized and functioning correctly.

If you must take an iodine supplement for an underactive thyroid, kelp is the best organic source.  It appears to have “the best “normalizing effect on the thyroid gland.  However, if your iodine dose is incorrect, it is possible to supplement with too much, or too little.  Some of the symptoms of iodine over supplementation include:  Severe acme, become underweight, emotional imbalances, hyper-activity, mental and emotional instability, negative effects on thyroid glands, skin irregularities (welts on arms/face, rough skin) and problems with focus, or spaced out feelings.

Getting enough iodine in the diet should not be a problem since we get it in our everyday table salt, processed and fast foods and through its presence in crop fertilizers.  However, the key issue with our iodine in our everyday diet is, most of us do not get organic iodine (e.g., seaweed, “kelp”).  Homeopathic doctors have prescribed kelp, vinegar, B6 and a lecithin diet for treatment of obesity and other types of preventative disorders for years.  The diet is also beneficial to brain tissue, sensory nerves and spinal cord.

However the normalizing effect of iodine benefits for an overweight problem gets lost in translation within the market place for those desperate to lose weight.  That is, consumers are lead to believe if iodine is good for the thyroid, than more is better whether you need it or not.  But there could be nothing further from the truth.   There is another way to look at this statistically.  Eighty percent of all thyroid cases are diagnosed as the hypo-type.  But this percentage does not equate to eighty percent of those that are obese have a thyroid problem.

Aerobic workouts good for the cardio Muscular endurance

Let’s also not forget those who choose “not to exercise, or eat healthy diets,” but have healthy thyroids with plenty of iodine in the diet.  They will not lose more weight by increasing iodine intake.  Also, 8 times out of 10 thyroid disorder diagnosis are more prominent in women than men.  And as a natural progression of aging, increased risk of thyroid disease occurs naturally.  And if you have an autoimmune disorder, type 1 diabetes, or rheumatoid arthritis your at higher risk for thyroid disease.  These diseases and other factors are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to diagnosing whether or not your thyroid needs stimulation to help you manage your weight.

If you do supplement your diet with iodine, it is important to understand it is also important to get enough vitamin A as well.  Vitamin A allows the thyroid gland to absorb the iodine.  If absorption of iodine through the gland does not occur optimally, then the production of thyroxin will occur relative to the glands absorption rate.  Recall, with reduced thyroxin hormone production, you have a lower BMR that does not help your weight loss and overall health goals.

One last point I’d like to touch on regarding a hyper-thyroid condition.  There are many cases documented where speeding up the thyroids function will cause weight loss.  But there are also cases where speeding up the thyroid function causes weight gain.  You ask how this is possible.  Because, by increasing the metabolic function, you also increase appetite.  Here is another truth, for those that lost weight during hormone treatment, once the hyper-active treatment stopped the weight came back.

Dogs need exercise as well to keep their body weight healthy.

Therefore, it appears that thyroid treatment to treat obesity does not appear to be real useful in many obesity cases.  This is why you should seek a treating physicians advisement to get help identifying the cause of your weight gain problem.  If you are diagnosed with thyroid disease, then you’ll likely be prescribed a synthetic thyroxin to replace the hormone your thyroid can no longer produce.

By working with your doctor to adjust to the necessary doses, you’ll begin to look and feel better.  In other cases some of you may need a combination of treatments to regulate, or lose body weight that include thyroxin prescription, diet and exercise.  And in other weight loss/gain situations – relative to disease and disorder(s) diagnosis…

Varying medical treatment strategies may be necessary as opposed to thyroid treatment. The point being, your thyroid may not be the problem. It may be one of several other connecting hormone functions dependent on the thyroid hormone that has malfunctioned and needs treatment.

Disease Scientifically Linked to Genetic Engineered Food Crops

22 09 2018

Fast food’s consumed likely contain GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms)

Updated:  22 September 2018

I remember long ago our family would plant hundreds of vegetable seeds in mid May on the family farm.  This annual planting would produce a multitude of organic vegetables for meals.

Also one of our main crops (pumpkins) would be sold at the local market in October.

What we didn’t sell or consume would then be canned as a provisional food source that would last until next years crop was harvested. Times have definitely changed from when I grew up.

For as long as I can remember the foods farmed by American families were the most nutritious and healthiest throughout the world.  However, that distinguished honor is no longer the case.  A major factor for the decline of nutrition within the food industry has to do with escalating costs of farming foods-to-table.  This has led to farming foods in labs before it hits the shelf.

Most consumers don’t know food industry’s are made up of 8-10 major food chain monopolies.  But for the sake of simplicity I’m going to use a few examples of how  reengineering of lab farmed foods is harming health.  In this way it is easier to understand why it’s so hard for consumers to remove harmful foods from the diet… especially when labels don’t disclose GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) information. Monsanto has been producing man made GMO crop seeds and chemical food sweeteners (e.g., Aspartame brands: NutraSweet, Spoonful and Equal-Measure) for some time now.

Artificial Sweeteners in Nearly all non-concentrate.

Many food products consumed from the local grocery store now contain more engineered ingredients than one can imagine.  The likes of Procter & Gamble (P&G) foods corporation is one of the largest producers of products that are petroleum based and comprised of Genetically Modified (GM) crops produced from GMO’s seeds resistant to herbicides and pesticides as was the case in the popular Pringles potato chip product.

Not so long ago, some 800,000 cans of Pringles potato chips had been recalled in Japan because the potatoes used to make the chips had the “gene-altered NewLeafPlus and NewLeaf Y components developed by Monsanto in the vegetables DNA!  This gene altered potato is approved for consumption in the United States but not in Japan!  So one has to wonder, why is the gene altered potato still sold within American markets and not the Japanese markets?  And should this ban mean something to the American people?  I think it should and the proof is in what P&G did next.

They sold its Pringles business to the Diamond Foods Snack Company for $2.35b in 2011.  Then in 2012 the Diamond deal fell apart and the Kellogg Company bought Pringles for $2.7b in cash. Thereafter P&G decided to focus more on its house hold cleaners and beauty products. These products have know carcinogenic ingredients [i.e., household cleaners, pet foods, cosmetics and personal care products].

Could it be that P&G and Diamond Foods Snack Company’s didn’t want the consumer backlash? Could it be that the new shareholder coalition “Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility” and GMO health risk connection is making sense to the 40 plus food companies [i.e., Safeway, Sysco, Whole Foods, Kellogg, Kraft, Heinz, Hershey’s, Starbucks, etc.]. The shareholder coalition message to these companies reports how Monsanto and GE foods are bad for Investors. Could these decisions to bail out have anything to do with  consumer health and liability risk.

GMO Corporations have been criticized for funding anti-labeling attempts to prevent disclosure laws from becoming public knowledge, while also working to weaken Europe’s laws regarding toxins in household products. And now these messages have spread to the largest economies in the world!

California field ready to plant.

California consumer advocates continue to supports mandatory GMO labeling as attempted during a Ballot initiative in 2012.  Over 80% of polls support GMO labeling for consumers.  Since California is the 8th largest economy in the world if the initiative passed it would have had a dramatic effect on changing consumer packaging and ingredient decisions nation-wide.

“The California Senate rejected on Wednesday a bill that would require labels on genetically-engineered foods. This is the second time in two years that labeling legislation has fallen short in the most populous and agriculturally-productive state.” [RT.com, May 31, 2014]

“Now Colorado and Oregon have ballot measure out to the voters to determine if their states will support the labeling of GMO’s on food ingredients.” [MirrorAthlete, 23 Oct, 2014]

“While state-level initiatives continue, other groups are focusing their attention on passing labeling legislation at the national level. Among them is the Just Label It (JLI) campaign, a national coalition of more than 600 diverse organizations working for the mandatory federal labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods (JustLabelIt.org 2018). In time I believe GE labeling laws will become a mandatory federal law.

It’s interesting to note Monsanto and Procter & Gamble have the same institutional corporate owners.  The top institutional owner of P&G foods is “Warren Buffett’s” Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., holdings, which owns ~$4.9b in P&G stock (NYSE: PG).  Proctor and Gamble current revenues (ttm) are ~$83.68b.  Also Bill Gates invested and purchased 500,000 shares of Monsanto Stock (NYSE: MON) and supported the use of GM crop technology [data reviewed – Oct 2014]. I’m not sure about their positions to date.

It’s very difficult to make change to consumer product laws when windfall profits for investors, employee jobs, market economies and corporate holdings are at stake.

Regardless – No matter how much money these moguls have and what interests they control – They can’t hide the animal studies that tell consumers truths about GMO’s and potential impact on human health. Animal studies show how Monsanto’s GMO corn is likely linked to organ damage and Aspartame as a cause of diabetes and obesity.

Food carts – Serve some of the most unhealthy foods one could consume.

There are reported toxicity reactions divided by the estimated reporting rate and where scientific studies corroborate that chronic aspartame ingestion and health damage has affected well over one million consumers in the U.S.   This is not so hard to fathom especially when you think of all the sodas and processed foods consumed on an annual basis.  Artificial lab farmed sweeteners is one of the primary causes of diabetes and “near” childhood obesity epidemic in this country.

It is also not well known by consumers, Aspartame “Monsanto’s artificial sweetener” is 200 times sweeter than sugar per equivalent volume.  And is also one of the most taste altering addictions that stimulaties consumers taste preference for rich high fat calorie foods.  Science shows us Aspartame products are also responsible for Formaldehyde poisoning!  How’s that?  Aspartame is an unstable chemical when stored (warehousing) too long in warm temperatures, the chemical properties of the artificial sweetener within soda cans converts to another type of dangerous chemical.

Monsanto has contributed greatly to changing our entire food chain by genetically altering many food crops DNA molecular structure – through GMO technology and super sweetening of foods.

Genetically modified crops have never been an integral part of the human or animal diet prior to the mid-latter 20th century.  The health consequences for those who over consume GM crop products are currently unknown.  Various scientific animal studies reveal to us that GM livestock feed and processed food ingredients correlate a clear negative impact on the function of the kidneys and liver.  It is more important than ever that more research focuses on the toxicity and mutation GM crop varieties may have on vital organs and DNA.

Looking at Genetically Modified (GM) Crops a Little Closer.

GM lab farmed products is an engineered process where a recombinant (genetic recombination) technology uses DNA molecules from different sources to combine and create a new set of genes within crop seeds for example.  This is done to make crops more resistant to decay, insects, chemical fertilizers, etc.  In this way farmers can mass produce volumes of what appears to be healthy food for consumer markets using less chemical sprays and fertilizers.

It’s not just the GMO corn and potatoes that the consumers should be aware of when purchasing product within the marketplace.  For example, corn is not only available off the husk, but also comes canned, as cooking oil, or processed corn starch, etc. Products such as cereals and baked snacks (as in seen in our Pringles example) are processed from the same crops which likely have artificial sweetener additives as well!  Let’s not forget about the livestock being fattened up by GM corn feed.  Now you can see how our food and personal use products have been reengineered and connection to health problems.

Hyper-Sweetened foods contribute to disease

Is it any wonder “Corporate controlled and protected artificial sweetener testing continues at Monsanto, torturing the ethics of academic medicine?” [Prevailing Winds, Issue 1, 1995].   They do so without fear of retribution because the FDA, “our consumer protection agency” turns a blind eye by accepting these corporate studies as safe consumer products.  [US Congressional Record, Volume 131, No. 106, August 1, 1985, pages S10826-S10827]

Why does this type of regulatory protection continue?  I believe it has a lot to do with corporate, institutional and governmental greed, power and control.  This marketplace dynamic is contributing to higher health care costs and more obese children and adult health problems than any other time in history.

I’ve listed the Top GM Food Crops that likely contain GM DNA.  If you want to know more about artificial sweeteners and GMO crops, simply see the referenced links below.

Corn – Monsanto revealed 50% of American sweet farm growers now use GMO seeds that have been modified to create its own insecticide.  Mice studies show when fed with GMO corn, offspring are smaller and there were fertility problems.

Tomatoes – GM tomato seeds prevent the vegetable from easily rotting and have been specifically engineered for longer shelf life.  Some mice fed these tomatoes after a couple of weeks died.

Dairy Products – Monsanto has created a recombinant (genetically modified) bovine growth hormone that’s injected into 22% of our U.S. dairy cows to increase insulin growth factor (IGF-1).  It is warned by scientists that increase in IGF-1 in humans have been associated with colon and breast cancer.

Potatoes – Mice fed potatoes with Bacillus thuringiensis var. Kurstaki Cry 1 had toxins in their bodies.  Although studies show stability of the Cry1 toxin in the mouse gut, there have been studies that show just the opposite results.

Peas – A gene from kidney beans was inserted into the DNA of peas to create a protein that functions as a pesticide.  This GM crop has been found to cause immune responses in mice.  However, it is not known the impacts on human consumption.

Rice – South East Asia’s rice is now GM to contain high levels of vitamin A.  It is not known if rice production in the U.S. in now GM rice varieties with human protein genes to help thwart infant diarrhea in 3rd world countries.  Unknown allergic reactions and other mutated gene transfers are now of a serious public health and environmental concerned as reported by an online journal, China Daily.

Soy – Products that are manufactured from the soy bean now have the GE resistive herbicide DNA structure within various foods (Soy products: flour, tofu, beverages, oil, pastries and baked products).  Hamsters that were fed GE soy products resulted in infertility and a high mortality rate.

Cotton – Cotton has been GM to resist pesticides like corn and soy.  Cotton is considered food because cooking oil can be extracted from the seeds and consumed.  Thousands of Indian farmers suffered severe rashes upon exposure to Chinese agricultural methods in order to kill the cotton bollworm.

Does organic without certification really mean organic?

Rapeseed – Canola is made from the edible Canadian Rapeseed crop; which most are familiar as a popular processed cooking oil and margarine.  Honey can also be produced from GM rapeseed.  As much as 1/3 of all pollen present in Canadian honey may likely be GM pollen.  For lack of animal studies it is unclear how these GM food sources will impact our health.

Papaya – Papaya crops produced in Hawaii was modified in 1999 to be virus-resistant.  Also, Monsanto provided Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India the GM technology to further develop a resistant ring spot virus papaya for India.  For lack of animal studies it is unclear how these GM food sources will impact health.

As consumers need more to worry about…  Research is also beginning to show links to Morgellon’s Disease correlated with GM recombinant foods.

This disease a few years back was a mystery, or something one conjured up in the head.  But the opposite is being shown to be the case.  Patients have presented strange skin irritations, skin anomalies and most specifically a mysterious tiny blue, red and black fiber growth that protrudes from an itchy skin lesion on areas of the body and where GM foods are concentrated, sold and consumed.  There appears to be a direct correlation with these fiber samples that are not of human DNA origins, but in fact when comparing these fiber samples, Ahmed Kilani (researcher) found they belonged to a fungus.  Then it was found by Vitaly Citovsky (biochemist) and determined that these fibers contained a substance called “Agro bacterium.”  This substance is used commercially to produce genetically-modified plant foods!

For now, the lack of national labeling requirements makes it hard to know which foods have GM ingredients.  You’re also now aware ~10 of our major farmed food staples may be partially or fully produced from GM seeds.  And other products such as dairy, fish, meats and processed snack foods could have GM ingredients.

Regardless of organic certification – local farmed foods are typically better than most store bought foods outside of local farms.

Recommendation – If you currently have immune, or other health, illness or disease issues, or are concerned about GM foods – consume more organic foods.  The best prevention to mitigate possible health risks from GM foods is to shop as organic as possible and purchase more foods labeled “certified organic.”

Be sure to vote for GMO food labeling disclosure laws when it gets on your states ballots as it is your right to know what your consuming!

How to Identify Home Products that Cause Illness and Disease

24 08 2018
Healthy longevity is important especially if we hope to enjoy retirement with our loved ones.

Healthy longevity is important especially if we hope to enjoy retirement with our loved ones.

Updated:  24 Aug 2018

I’ve known for years the chemicals in our consumer marketplace and environment has a direct correlation with disease and rising mortality rates. Through epidemiological, disease prevention and mortality rate studies and World Health Organization reports, etc., a direct connection with consumer products is found to have an effect on health and longevity. And that connection is the Westernized cultures who produce the pathological causing pollutant and chemical contaminants that attack cellular integrity by their oxidant agents.

Through the advancements of modern medicine a decline in mortality rates occurred – benefiting an increase in average lifespan during the early-mid-20th century. However the data today shows a reverse in trend. The marketplace in the later 20th and early 21st century changed by introducing thousands of toxic chemical contaminants into the food chain, water and air we breathe.

The global data shows a direct correlation to man’s manipulation of our food chain for sake of profit. As a result cancer is on the rise and so is every other major medical problem including diabetes, arthritis, heart, circulatory and autoimmune disease to name a few. At this rate our children and their children will live shorter lifespans than previous generations and suffer unnecessary pain and costs that need not be.

Many of the statistical bullet points below were relative in 2007 when this article was first published. And just as relative and concerning today… mortality rates and disease is not decreasing. And occurring in an advanced culture where modern medicine should be reducing these things – It’s not.

Previous and Updated Consumer Statistical Facts,

It is a fact, cancer mortality rates throughout the globe have increased over the last decade. “7.6 million People died of cancer in the world during 2007.  13% of all deaths are due to cancer (American Cancer Society).”

Since then, cancer cases have risen globally. Unfortunately “Cancer is among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with approximately 14 million new cases and 8.2 million cancer related deaths in 2012 [World Health Organization, 2015] and (Woodard, 2015).”

From 1965 to 1982 over 4 million distinct chemical compounds were formulated by corporations.  And at least 250,000 new formulations created annually since then.

Approximately 6,000 chemicals are added to our foods (Woodard 2015). And the FDA has no knowledge of 1000 of them or effect on cellular health. And fewer than half the other 4000 chemicals have not been tested by the FDA (Marler 2013).

700 chemicals have been found in drinking water.

Over 500 chemicals can be found under kitchen sinks or laundry rooms in American homes.

Over 800 neurotoxin chemical compounds are used in cosmetic-perfume industries.

How many store bought products are chemically influenced by man?

How many store bought products are chemically influenced by man?

Seventy percent of our daily calories now consist of processed foods high in trans-fat, sugar, salt, other strange chemical preservative and processing additives, etc., that lack organic nutrients.

“But if we care about people dying before their lives are really over or having to endure preventable suffering, and our neighbors racking up huge medical costs that we all share, then that space on our plates for processed food shouldn’t be anywhere near 70 percent. Perhaps closer to 20 or 30 percent. It’s only then that we can call our food supply truly safe (Marler 2013).”

310,000 Americans go to early graves due to processed food diets that cause heart and diabetes disease, etc., including cancer.

For example, food preservative BHA is a known carcinogen found in many processed foods we consume daily: McDonald’s sausages, an ingredient found in Gatorade, Tang, DiGiorno Pepperoni Pizza, breakfast steak, bread making, etc., (Marler 2013).

3000 annual deaths and 130,000 food borne illness are reported by hospitals.

Bottled water, how pure is it? Studies show not much better than local drinking water.

There’s a lot of manmade toxic chemicals in the air we breathe, water we drink from plastic containers and foods we eat.

Many health conscientious consumers don’t consider the cosmetic and hygiene products they use every day.

To provide awareness to common toxic home care products with known carcinogens, to identify them in your house you can perform a home toxic product identification challenge. Then you decide if you want to keep the products or replace them with an organic home cleaning, laundry and hygienic product line. When you remove known toxic chemicals from your home, less stress is put on the autoimmune system which mitigates and relieves ill-health conditions.

Look no further than your kitchen cleaning, or bathroom hygiene cabinets. Simply select a shampoo, toothpaste or common home cleaning product and look for 1 or all 3 toxic ingredients listed below. The 3 chemical and toxic ingredients I chose out of hundreds of unsafe chemicals consumers unknowingly consume daily: Propylene Glycol, SLS (sodium laurylsulfate) and DEA (Diethanolamine).

Replace toxic hygienic product with green products to reduce health risk.

Below I’ve provided a short descriptor of each disease causing chemical ingredient found within common home use consumer products. Keep in mind, I’ve only listed 3 absorbed through the skin, inhaled or ingested. Also I’ve barely scratched the surface or impressed upon the fact, there’s thousands of chemicals and toxins we take in daily found in our air, water and food.

Propylene Glycol – What’s Anti-Freeze doing in our shampoos, deodorants, cosmetics, lotions, toothpastes and pet food, etc.?  Yes the main ingredient is Anti-freeze, Propylene Glycol.  “Topical application to injured skin or intravenous administration has sometimes been associated with lactic acidosis, Comas, Seizures & Renal Failure.  Linked to: Central Nervous System Effects, Metabolic Effects & Poisoning (Walker 2015).”

SLS (sodium laurylsulfate) – What are concrete floor cleaner, engine degreaser and car wash detergents doing in hundreds of other personal home care and cleaning products, such as bath & body products, etc.?  The main ingredient is SLS. “SLS (sodium laurylsulfate) acts as a detergent. Used in the laboratory as a membrane destabilizer & solubilizer of proteins and lipids, causing potential harm to skin and eyes. Young eyes may not develop properly if exposed to SLS because proteins are denatured (Walker, 2015)”

DEA (Diethanolamine) – What is a known cause, or contributor to cancer, or of being potentially dangerous or hazardous to our health doing in shampoos, conditioners, bubble baths, lotions, cosmetics, soaps, laundry and dishwashing detergents?

The main ingredient within many bath and body and cosmetic products is DEA, a known cancer causing ingredient. The California Center for Environmental Health (CEH) performed independent testing of 98 personal care products and found “products testing high in DEA and Cocamide DEA used to thicken hair, ‘was listed a known carcinogen last year.” Many personal care products with DEA in them is manufactured and sold by many major retailer brands consumers know and trust. Just to name a few Colgate, Palmolive, Colomer and Paul Mitchell.

Major retailers known to sell, or have sold products with toxic chemical ingredients include: “Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Pharmaca and Kohl’s and a store brand children’s bubble bath from Kmart and a children’s shampoo/conditioner from Babies R Us were also found with cocamide DEA. Falsely labeled organic products from Organic by Africa’s Best also tested for high levels of the cancer-causing chemical (CEH previously won a legal settlement with this company requiring it to end its use of phony organic labels) (Center for Environmental Health 2013).”

For a list of brands and retailers that sell DEA personal care products, click on CEH link below.

Still need more proof.  Check the back of your household cleaning, or hygiene product bottles. Pick an ingredient name you can’t pronounce or don’t understand its meaning. Type this name into an Internet search engine. You’ll see it is a manmade chemical product and it is not organic. I’m willing to bet you have at least 1 of 3 listed chemical ingredients in one or more of your favorite personal use and home cleaning products.  Most likely exposed daily to all 3 and other toxic chemicals too numerous list.

If you are using products with ingredients you can’t pronounce, or understand their origins, these almost always are manmade chemical ingredients.

Take advantage of seasonal farmers markets.

The best advice I can give you is to begin replacing all home cleaning and personal care products with “clean green home and hygiene products” and eat as fresh organic foods as possible. Also cut down on processed and convenience food consumption.

The chemicals we use to clean our homes and foods we consume are at war with our bodies.  And I’ve not even brought up the air we breathe and water we drink. To get more insight on these consumer topics of interest please click on the following MirrorAthlete article links: How Sick Buildings Effect Lives and Is Fluoride in Our City Water Needed or Safe.

It is more important than ever to remove the toxic household products and heavily processed foods from our plates. Consume as many fresh fruits and vegetables daily as possible. As a health insurance policy add a daily multi-vitamin and mineral supplement to provide an anti-oxidant boost to immune system. This will help shield cellular health by protecting it from free radical damage caused by product and environmental oxidant damage and environmental stress taken in daily.

Without preventative health measures in our Westernized culture the aging process will advance with insidious disease and shorten lifespans.

These illustrations, stories, lessons learned and teaching points provides the reader with an enjoyable, entertaining and interactive experience while learning consumer and fitness trainer and health consultant wisdom.  And healthy living techniques that can be used to improve quality of life for decades to follow.  In many ways the content was developed and designed to be a timeless fitness and healthy lifestyle book of how to live life to the fullest.  And applicable to all demographics within any environment or culture.

MirrorAthlete has evolved through an exercise science discipline applied within a fitness consulting practice throughout the years.  I’ve taken multiple client and personal lifetime experiences and fitness programming successes and defined, related and applied these things with a very unique perspective understanding Westernized cultural habits and behavioral impact on health.  Our principled fitness and healthy lifestyle doctrine is based on MirrorAthlete® Principled Fitness and healthy lifestyle Philosophy .

The knowledge within this book allows anyone to succeed in creating a customized fitness and healthy habits lifestyle program without the cost of a professional trainer or specialized fitness and health consultant service or products.   The information you need to know is broken down by easy to understand principles, multiple professional citations, consumer safety awareness, client examples, consumer weight loss; strength, endurance and competitive training knowledge and wisdom, to include how to identify physical enhancement fad and scam services and products; medical referral insight and so much more.   And most important how to build a customized fitness and healthy habits lifestyle plan and implement it relative to your lifestyle needs.  Then gets you to the next fitness level naturally if you’d like to take that challenge.

If you lack motivation to break a bad habit, addiction or get started with a basic healthy habits program, or advance your fitness and healthy lifestyle goals, we shown how to overcome low motivation by increasing will power to stay the course.    As you work towards your fitness goal, you’ll do so without worry of applying a restrictive diet plan, or purchase of expensive physical enhancement product, service or gimmick to reduce body fat, build muscle, etc.  We don’t sell hype, only information on how to achieve natural fitness and healthy longevity change results which are backed by hundreds of professional citations and client story examples.

The marketplace is littered with manmade products and services that promise fast results… some appear to work short term, while others don’t work at all and in both cases increase health risk.  In the long run addiction to manmade consumables loaded with unnatural chemicals increase health risk.  Consumers need to know, they don’t have to go the unsafe route to achieve these goals at the expense of health.

We know the marketplace won’t provide consumers the entire health risk picture regarding unhealthy, addictive and dangerous products for good reason.  There’s no money in it for them.  Half truth testimonials that promise quick fitness and health results sell.  The other half truth is man manipulates and injects addictive chemical and genetically engineered ingredients into consumer foods and supplemental products known to cause health problems and as previously stated “not popular selling points.”  We expose these consumer and marketplace truths.

If you’re tired of paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for fitness and diet products and services that don’t work long term, or don’t work at all and tired of being overweight and unfit, look no further.

MirrorAthlete Inc., is uniquely positioned through years of practical and scholastic healthy lifestyle experiences and consulting services which enables us to easily expose these hard to find industrial and marketplace secrets.    It is for good reason these consumer industries hope the majority of you never discover what’s revealed in this book.  Our unique principled philosophy as applied to our K-12 schools and healthy community plans threatens to fundamentally change the fitness, health and medical marketplace supply and demand and profit margins model and governmental organizations.

I personally show how to apply these healthy lifestyle concepts by detailing these 18 Powerful Fitness and Healthy Lifestyle Principles [MirrorAthlete® Principled Fitness and Healthy Lifestyle Philosophy ]These principles provide the building blocks you learn to master in order to customize your own fitness or healthy habits program without breaking the bank or your body.

The book is an interesting, energetic, optimistic and exciting read in itself.  But more so by way of each ending chapter there’s an ongoing personal fitness challenge and personalized message by ‘yours truly’ relative to each chapters content.  By connecting each chapter principle and content dots this way, I further show how MirrorAthlete principled philosophy can also be applied to improve any physical adversity scenario, i.e., illness, disease, limited mobility.  Those with physical and mental adversity challenges can relate and use the same tool box’s provided within the chapters to help advance any desired fitness or health need improvement.  Thereby allowing one to take control of their health and immobility predicament and continue to live life to the fullest in the best way possible.

We ask that you and your friends consider supporting our mission  “Saving a Nation in Pain,” by taking the following actions.   Visit our web site and look for the book publication release date.  Then purchase a book once released. We’d truly appreciate the support to expand our company resources and educational outreach message to put an end to the obesity epidemic plaguing our youth.

We also accept donations at our home site to further promote ill-health prevention and healthy lifestyle education for families and communities.

New Year New You

21 12 2015

Start a New Activity and Meet New People.
Start a New Activity and Meet New People.

Last Updated:  21 Dec 2015

It’s a new year and will it also be the beginning of a new you?

How many different directions could you take in making a New Year’s resolution that would make you happier, more energetic, feel and look good and more excited about life?

So what is your New Year Resolution, what do you want to change? Is it to finally lose that weight once and for all, start a walk/jog exercise routine, spend more time with the family, get out of a bad relationship-start a new one, stop smoking-drinking, get a new job etc.?

In building any action plan to resolve any problem, “yes this includes a New Year’s resolution,” you first must target what’s causing you to lose sleep at night and focus during the day. Then once you’re sure you’ve identified the problem you must focus and stick to a relative-planned solution “that’s right for you and your situation” to accomplish the goal.

Whatever you need to do to make a positive life change will require 1) courage, 2) will power and a 3) sustainable action plan to see it through. But the forth ingredient in my opinion is the most important because it is the driver of the first three.

The action plan must be 4) relative to your needs and wants so you’ll have the motivation to sustain it long-term.

As a personal fitness trainer and consultant throughout the years, I’ve received an earful from my clients. One thing I’ve learned, the customer often brings a 3rd party solution to the table. But these well intended solutions are custom designed for someone else. All too often in the world of fitness, health and life coaching, custom designed plans are relative to another individuals life goal profile. This means these plans will not work optimally, or work at all for you.

For example, you may share a similar obesity and diabetes condition, but there are many ways to lose weight and treat diabetes. Some treatment plans will work for some and not others, or as effectively.

In other words when I develop a fitness program for one client, I don’t pass it on to the next one who has a similar goal. If I did that I’d lose clients, why?  The Desired results would likely not occur.

We are all of various ages, sex, genetics, culture, body type, mental and physical readiness, have different lifestyle needs, wants and activity goals. Our motivations and will power differ greatly as well as our habits, behavior, environment, medical histories and current health conditions… the list goes on.

So how can you successfully plan to create a new you for the New Year?

If you’ve been unsuccessful in changing any of your life goals might I suggest, or recommend you seek out a life coach or fitness consultant, or trainer that can help you develop a relative customized plan to make that positive change in life once and for all.

Listed below are the two disciplines with specialties identified that can help refocus a relative plan and resolve your New Year’s Resolution and then sustain it for life.
