Healthy longevity is important especially if we hope to enjoy retirement with our loved ones.

Updated:  24 Aug 2018

I’ve known for years the chemicals in our consumer marketplace and environment has a direct correlation with disease and rising mortality rates. Through epidemiological, disease prevention and mortality rate studies and World Health Organization reports, etc., a direct connection with consumer products is found to have an effect on health and longevity. And that connection is the Westernized cultures who produce the pathological causing pollutant and chemical contaminants that attack cellular integrity by their oxidant agents.

Through the advancements of modern medicine a decline in mortality rates occurred – benefiting an increase in average lifespan during the early-mid-20th century. However the data today shows a reverse in trend. The marketplace in the later 20th and early 21st century changed by introducing thousands of toxic chemical contaminants into the food chain, water and air we breathe.

The global data shows a direct correlation to man’s manipulation of our food chain for sake of profit. As a result cancer is on the rise and so is every other major medical problem including diabetes, arthritis, heart, circulatory and autoimmune disease to name a few. At this rate our children and their children will live shorter lifespans than previous generations and suffer unnecessary pain and costs that need not be.

Many of the statistical bullet points below were relative in 2007 when this article was first published. And just as relative and concerning today… mortality rates and disease is not decreasing. And occurring in an advanced culture where modern medicine should be reducing these things – It’s not.

Previous and Updated Consumer Statistical Facts,

It is a fact, cancer mortality rates throughout the globe have increased over the last decade. “7.6 million People died of cancer in the world during 2007.  13% of all deaths are due to cancer (American Cancer Society).”

Since then, cancer cases have risen globally. Unfortunately “Cancer is among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with approximately 14 million new cases and 8.2 million cancer related deaths in 2012 [World Health Organization, 2015] and (Woodard, 2015).”

From 1965 to 1982 over 4 million distinct chemical compounds were formulated by corporations.  And at least 250,000 new formulations created annually since then.

Approximately 6,000 chemicals are added to our foods (Woodard 2015). And the FDA has no knowledge of 1000 of them or effect on cellular health. And fewer than half the other 4000 chemicals have not been tested by the FDA (Marler 2013).

700 chemicals have been found in drinking water.

Over 500 chemicals can be found under kitchen sinks or laundry rooms in American homes.

Over 800 neurotoxin chemical compounds are used in cosmetic-perfume industries.

How many store bought products are chemically influenced by man?

How many store bought products are chemically influenced by man?

Seventy percent of our daily calories now consist of processed foods high in trans-fat, sugar, salt, other strange chemical preservative and processing additives, etc., that lack organic nutrients.

“But if we care about people dying before their lives are really over or having to endure preventable suffering, and our neighbors racking up huge medical costs that we all share, then that space on our plates for processed food shouldn’t be anywhere near 70 percent. Perhaps closer to 20 or 30 percent. It’s only then that we can call our food supply truly safe (Marler 2013).”

310,000 Americans go to early graves due to processed food diets that cause heart and diabetes disease, etc., including cancer.

For example, food preservative BHA is a known carcinogen found in many processed foods we consume daily: McDonald’s sausages, an ingredient found in Gatorade, Tang, DiGiorno Pepperoni Pizza, breakfast steak, bread making, etc., (Marler 2013).

3000 annual deaths and 130,000 food borne illness are reported by hospitals.

Bottled water, how pure is it? Studies show not much better than local drinking water.

There’s a lot of manmade toxic chemicals in the air we breathe, water we drink from plastic containers and foods we eat.

Many health conscientious consumers don’t consider the cosmetic and hygiene products they use every day.

To provide awareness to common toxic home care products with known carcinogens, to identify them in your house you can perform a home toxic product identification challenge. Then you decide if you want to keep the products or replace them with an organic home cleaning, laundry and hygienic product line. When you remove known toxic chemicals from your home, less stress is put on the autoimmune system which mitigates and relieves ill-health conditions.

Look no further than your kitchen cleaning, or bathroom hygiene cabinets. Simply select a shampoo, toothpaste or common home cleaning product and look for 1 or all 3 toxic ingredients listed below. The 3 chemical and toxic ingredients I chose out of hundreds of unsafe chemicals consumers unknowingly consume daily: Propylene Glycol, SLS (sodium laurylsulfate) and DEA (Diethanolamine).

Replace toxic hygienic product with green products to reduce health risk.

Below I’ve provided a short descriptor of each disease causing chemical ingredient found within common home use consumer products. Keep in mind, I’ve only listed 3 absorbed through the skin, inhaled or ingested. Also I’ve barely scratched the surface or impressed upon the fact, there’s thousands of chemicals and toxins we take in daily found in our air, water and food.

Propylene Glycol – What’s Anti-Freeze doing in our shampoos, deodorants, cosmetics, lotions, toothpastes and pet food, etc.?  Yes the main ingredient is Anti-freeze, Propylene Glycol.  “Topical application to injured skin or intravenous administration has sometimes been associated with lactic acidosis, Comas, Seizures & Renal Failure.  Linked to: Central Nervous System Effects, Metabolic Effects & Poisoning (Walker 2015).”

SLS (sodium laurylsulfate) – What are concrete floor cleaner, engine degreaser and car wash detergents doing in hundreds of other personal home care and cleaning products, such as bath & body products, etc.?  The main ingredient is SLS. “SLS (sodium laurylsulfate) acts as a detergent. Used in the laboratory as a membrane destabilizer & solubilizer of proteins and lipids, causing potential harm to skin and eyes. Young eyes may not develop properly if exposed to SLS because proteins are denatured (Walker, 2015)”

DEA (Diethanolamine) – What is a known cause, or contributor to cancer, or of being potentially dangerous or hazardous to our health doing in shampoos, conditioners, bubble baths, lotions, cosmetics, soaps, laundry and dishwashing detergents?

The main ingredient within many bath and body and cosmetic products is DEA, a known cancer causing ingredient. The California Center for Environmental Health (CEH) performed independent testing of 98 personal care products and found “products testing high in DEA and Cocamide DEA used to thicken hair, ‘was listed a known carcinogen last year.” Many personal care products with DEA in them is manufactured and sold by many major retailer brands consumers know and trust. Just to name a few Colgate, Palmolive, Colomer and Paul Mitchell.

Major retailers known to sell, or have sold products with toxic chemical ingredients include: “Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Pharmaca and Kohl’s and a store brand children’s bubble bath from Kmart and a children’s shampoo/conditioner from Babies R Us were also found with cocamide DEA. Falsely labeled organic products from Organic by Africa’s Best also tested for high levels of the cancer-causing chemical (CEH previously won a legal settlement with this company requiring it to end its use of phony organic labels) (Center for Environmental Health 2013).”

For a list of brands and retailers that sell DEA personal care products, click on CEH link below.

Still need more proof.  Check the back of your household cleaning, or hygiene product bottles. Pick an ingredient name you can’t pronounce or don’t understand its meaning. Type this name into an Internet search engine. You’ll see it is a manmade chemical product and it is not organic. I’m willing to bet you have at least 1 of 3 listed chemical ingredients in one or more of your favorite personal use and home cleaning products.  Most likely exposed daily to all 3 and other toxic chemicals too numerous list.

If you are using products with ingredients you can’t pronounce, or understand their origins, these almost always are manmade chemical ingredients.

Take advantage of seasonal farmers markets.

The best advice I can give you is to begin replacing all home cleaning and personal care products with “clean green home and hygiene products” and eat as fresh organic foods as possible. Also cut down on processed and convenience food consumption.

The chemicals we use to clean our homes and foods we consume are at war with our bodies.  And I’ve not even brought up the air we breathe and water we drink. To get more insight on these consumer topics of interest please click on the following MirrorAthlete article links: How Sick Buildings Effect Lives and Is Fluoride in Our City Water Needed or Safe.

It is more important than ever to remove the toxic household products and heavily processed foods from our plates. Consume as many fresh fruits and vegetables daily as possible. As a health insurance policy add a daily multi-vitamin and mineral supplement to provide an anti-oxidant boost to immune system. This will help shield cellular health by protecting it from free radical damage caused by product and environmental oxidant damage and environmental stress taken in daily.

Without preventative health measures in our Westernized culture the aging process will advance with insidious disease and shorten lifespans.

Alzheimer’s Disease and Aluminum Absorption Risk

21 10 2015

Do processed and cooked foods have any connection to this disease?

Updated:  22 Oct 2015

Why is Alzheimer’s disease the 4th leading cause of death among our elderly, only behind heart disease, cancer and stroke? It also happens to be the 3d most common mineral element on the planet we’re exposed to with frequency.

The World Health Organization to include many other research teams has determined there’s a correlation with aluminum and elderly mental health risk and mortality.  “According to Washington DC’s Department of the Planet Earth, United States and Canadian regulatory agencies, acknowledges a potential risk factor in elderly cognitive impairment. It makes sense, research shows aluminum can produce toxic, oxidative stress in the brain and a brain autopsy study of elderly persons found them to have aluminum levels 20+ times higher than a middle-aged group” (Edward 2013).

But not all research institutions are on board with this cause and disease relationship. For instance, “People exposed to high levels of aluminum may develop Alzheimer’s disease, but other studies have not found this to be true. “We do not know for certain that aluminum causes Alzheimer’s disease.”  The ideal being the possibility those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or genetically predisposed to get it, have brain tissue that absorbs and stores more aluminum to greater degree than others when exposed” (ATSDR 2008).

However it is certain “eating large amounts of processed food containing aluminum additives or frequently cooking acidic foods in aluminum pots may expose a person to higher levels of aluminum than a person who generally consumes unprocessed foods and uses pots made of other materials (e.g., stainless steel or glass). The consensus of this particular study finds aluminum levels found in processed foods and foods cooked in aluminum pots are generally considered to be safe” (ATSDR 2008).

Aluminum is so common within our consumer products it’s also found in city water and everyday hygiene and beauty products.

Other research shows us you are 3 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s through the use of arousal anti perspirants and hair spray containing aluminum.  Both entrants into the body are absorbed easily through consumption and may be easily absorbed by the brain through the nasal cavity (Public health reports, Natural health, University of California, Berkeley Wellness Letter).

Aluminum cookware such as pans, pots and thermal beverage holders present absorption of mineral risk into foods. And for a pan lined with a Teflon nonstick surfaces this may present a separate health risk concern. It is suggested by consumer safety advocates Teflon may present health risk. However, M3 and DuPont research, show no conclusive proof that Teflon puts your health at risk.

Cookware sealants became a consumer health issue because 3rd party research shows when you get into varying chemical sealant composites to bind-bond-seal the aluminum or copper cookware as “THE” protective “HEAT” barrier may present other known & unknown health risks.  ‘To minimize the amount of aluminum that dissolves into your food from cookware, avoid cooking acidic foods like tomatoes and rhubarb in aluminum pans. Don’t store leftovers in aluminum, because the longer the food sits, the more aluminum it can absorb from the pan. Since more aluminum will dissolve out of old, pitted and worn pans, throw away your aging aluminum cookware. When you replace your old pans, consider upgrading to anodized aluminum pans” (LivingStrong 2015).

With regard to city treatment of drinking water how does one find out “how much” alum, or aluminum sulfate is added to our water?  The amount necessary to reduce algae and turbidity creating crystal clear drinking water from our city utilities dictates the amount of aluminum sulfate required.  If you drink city water, you are ingesting alum.  Due to the unanswered link between Alzheimer’s and aluminum, (some scientists) are urging water treatment facilities use ferric sulfate, or calcium as opposed to aluminum sulfate to accomplish the job. Call your city treatment facility, or water provider how they treat the water source.

Aluminum is also an occupational hazard, “Exposure to aluminum, unfortunately, is common with some occupations like mining, factory work, and welding. Welding can be especially worrisome because it produces vapors that, when inhaled, send aluminum directly into the lungs in a “super absorption” status where it is released to the blood and distributed to the bones and brain. Researchers have repeatedly examined the consequence of inhaling aluminum vapors and the results are grim” (Edward 2013).

Recommendations,

  1. Medical research correlation between Alzheimer’s disease and aluminum is so convincing a prudent person would remove “all” aerosol or cosmetics to include deodorants made of, or containing aluminum.
  2. If you see the word alum (aluminum), on any consumer product, or consumable in aluminum container or cookware, seriously consider an alternative.
  3. If you drink beverages made from aluminum cans, it would be prudent to switch to glass bottled or other container type.
  4. The greatest risk of aluminum exposure at a super absorption rate is an occupational hazard where inhaling vapors presents a serious health risk potential. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should always be worn during working with or around aluminum vapors and where PPE is inspected with frequency for breach or defects per manufacturer safety use instructions and inspection standards.
  5. Contact your local municipality and ask about aluminum sulfate in your drinking water and do check the bottled water to see if it’s simply bottled city or natural spring water with alum.

41 Drugs to Die For

24 10 2010
Prescription Drugs “Can” be a Bit Like Rolling the Dice in Vegas

I’ve stated before, “Anything manmade and outside of God’s natural organic order, can/will cause ill-health medical conditions.”  And there is nothing more true to this statement and applicable relative to the plethora of FDA approved drugs that are causing great harm to those with medical conditions and dependent on pharmaceuticals.

Although I believe there is no manmade drug (including long-storage processed/restaurant, fast-foods) that is entirely good for us, I would concede there are medical conditions where specific types of drugs given to patients far outweigh the health risk consequences than going without.

My biggest concern with our FDA (Federal Drug Administration) approved drugs process is the sheer number of products coming to market.  Recall, before these drugs come to market there is an extensive FDA safety-approval process that also equates to billions of R&D (Research & Development) dollars where investors demand a ROI (Return on Investment) by bringing product to market.  And it is also true that that much of the FDA’s budget is greatly dependent upon the pharmaceutical products and services industries.  These industry resources also equate to 10’s of thousands of government, private sector and special interest jobs, within our health care industry.

It is my opinion, the drug companies know full well how to fudge research data and the FDA knows how to give a free pass.  Folks this is a dangerous combination for the unknowing patient in need of safe effective drugs with minimal side effects.  We already know anything manmade is going to create additional risk for our health.  However, how much unnecessary risk should the “unknowing” patient take?  Are drugs that create high risk health conditions with “little-to-no” health benefits really necessary?  And has our drug approval process “now” incorporated increased health risk conditions and acceptable death rate into the cost-of-doing business?  And is litigation and class action lawsuits now factored into the cost of doing business as well?

It would appear, “patients” have become a part of the “rat” lab program included into the cost or R&D “in our open markets!” Human studies now are disguised through a “free pass to market” process that incorporates reuse of the same drug(s); “pulled from consumer use,” and then relabeled  under different names (read below “Off-Market Labels”) to treat conditions that were not initially approved by the FDA.  I submit… The cost of doing business in expediting drug-to-market approval for use on humans is more cost effective with better correlated data than animal lab studies.

It seems the paradigm shift is “now” Humans are an expendable commodity where the cost of doing business is settled through class action lawsuits to appease suffering families by compensating financially.  Also more research animals are saved, simultaneously keeping activist at bay; investors also make huge fortunes; government and private sector jobs and special interests continue to thrive and grow.

Have we become the little white rats supporting the Off-Market Label drug trials as drug products are expedited for use in the marketplace?  And is this why our prescription drugs have a ridiculously high cost:  “Factor cost of class action lawsuits; off-label product marketing costs and FDA blind-eye policy and underwriter kickbacks to give a green light on a free pass to market.”  Are Off-Market Label drug policies breaking our healthcare systems back?  Is there anything that can be done about it?

American greed knows no boundaries.  Those without a moral compass care only about their here and now.  Think about it.  I don’t know the entire solution in how to resolve this particular crux.  My only thought is, without moral leadership at the helm of any private, corporate, or government regulatory agency, these types of things will change little because of a corrupt soul.

What can we the consumer do about this.  We the people “do” have the power to change consumer regulatory control.  “Vote the vermin out of government office and fill the seats with good guys.”  How do you know who the good guys are?  Simple, they have an undeniable morale leadership character and honorable past with little interest in lining their pockets (look for the money trail which is a dead giveaway).  Also, look for agenda motive and who endorses them.  Good guys also don’t seek recognition for doing the right things, it just comes to them.  And they only seek to rise higher in the leadership hierarchy to do greater good serving the people and appointing “moral good guys/gals.”  They are also responsible and accountable for their actions and to the people under which they serve.

I’ve listed 5 of the 41 most dangerous class action lawsuit prescription drugs below.  All of these drugs have caused serious health problems for patients and even death.  The lawsuits are an indicator that even with inception of new drug products to market; this “quick product to market” approach is not going to stop anytime soon.  It has only gotten more complicated with Off-Market Labels and class action lawsuits.  As long as the FDA continues to turn a blind eye to R&D data, and class action lawsuits data statistics, etc.  Consumers will continue to experience more ill-health side effects and prescription induced “early” death through the off-label drug to market process.

Even the fines issued by the FDA are only a slap on the wrist to hundreds of billion dollar companies.  Fines do not incentivize these companies to change the way they do business, but instead provides a “pay-per-play” drug policy which gives the appearance of our Federal government doing something about malicious business practices.  If our government really cared, they’d slap an injunction to stop distribution-to-market and remove any drug label that is deemed to have caused significant medical harm and death.  And if they were serious about consumer protection, fine these companies in a way that hurts their bottom line and require these companies to begin the R&D approval process over from start to finish.   But this won’t happen, why?  Federal regulatory agencies are in bed with these deep pocketed special interest companies and addicted to the money.

However, it is now obvious the FDA drug approval process trust is being challenged by many consumer class action lawsuits with no end in sight.  The FDA is under a tremendous amount of pressure from the government oversight committees, consumer watch dogs and other advocates against the current drug-to-market protocols that is releasing bad drugs into the market.  If this “business as usual” approach does not change, further erosion of Obama care mandates will occur because policy will prove to be “cost unsustainable.”  And if health reform does not control the “status quo” drug approval process, these governmental policies will crumble and take our economy with it.  As to continue forward with such drug approval processes will cause irreversible harm to our health care services and economy.

“Accutane:   Lawsuit 2010-09-30 – This was an approved FDA, “award winning” vitamin A derivative to treat various forms of cancer highly effective at mitigating and killing the spread of cells in the pancreas, brain and nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome.  There are now many problematic side-effect and deaths as a result of use.  Some of the serious side-effects include but not limited to:  Bowl disease, psychosis, hepatitis, pancreatic, myalgia, raised blood glucose, etc., And birth defect rates are extremely high when proper screening before prescription occurred.   Legal action is the result of either party(s) wrongly prescribed, or misunderstood use of, or detailed information of potential risks/brochures, or a signed consent form of understanding of pharmacist was not accomplished per prudent protocols.”  http://accutanelawsuit2010.net/

“Vioxx and Bextra:  Approved by the FDA – A new study links certain painkillers to High Cholesterol, 13 Feb 2007.  Pain killers known as COX-2 inhibitors (Vioxx and Bextra) at the time of the study were shown to increase excess cholesterol for lack of purging it from the body.  This increased the possibilities of blood clot and stroke.  Lipid loads in the body when using this anti-arthritic pain alleviation drugs were shown to increase leading to cardiovascular issues with pain patients.”  http://vioxx.pharmaceutical-lawsuits.com/

“Ketek:  An anti-biotic was linked to liver failure and other problems.  Originally Ketek was approved by the FDA to treat sinusitis and bronchitis.  Because of the problems it was no longer allowed for use by the FDA as originally intended.  However, in 2004 was approved to treat pneumonia outside of a hospital or nursing home.  The statements made by former physician David Ross who worked on pre-approval for FDA at Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) after 10 years stated “his superiors forced him to soften his unflattering review of the drugs.” http://www.newsinferno.com/legal-news/ketek-lawsuit-filed-in-illinois-says-sanofi-aventis-knew-of-liver-failure-side-effects/

“Zyprexa:  Approved in 1996 and has been used for years to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.  Clinical trials have shown this drug to cause weight gain and diabetes.  The CDER is known by prominent medical clinical research professional(s) regards the pharmaceutical industry as the FDA’s(agency) main client.  Off-label marketing (specific falsities as to the side effects of a drug) for anti-psychotic drugs used to sedate nursing home patients kills approximately 15,000 a year.  However there is evidence that off-label marketing is not as strong as it use to be.  Off-label use also means that prescription drugs may be used to alleviate other symptoms or conditions but not approved for use by the FDA.”  http://www.coreynahman.com/atypical-antipsychotic-lawsuits.html

“Rosiglitazon (Avandia):   Approved by the FDA – A type 2 diabetes drug approved for diabetes 2 use in 1999 caused some patients to have heart attacks.   Rosiglitazon is an oral anti-diabetic drug that increases insensitivity to insulin.  After patients experienced, heart problems, liver failure, weight gain, low blood sugar and fractures the FDA put out a warning on the drug.  In 2005 the Canadian Medical Association Journal reported that Rosiglitazon caused partial blindness in 7 patients.  In 2007 a press release stated women that used Avandia showed increased signs of upper arm, feet and hand fractures.  In 2009, there is “no increase” in hospitalizations or death in comparison to those taking metformin with sulfonylurea.   But there were increases in heart failure and deaths for those taking Avandia.  The drug is still in use today and some patients are beginning to file lawsuits.”  http://www.avandia-injury-lawyer.com/index.php?gclid=CKbgwZyUr6QCFQsSbAodPibP0w

 “OFF-Label Plus,”

It appears the drug industries are now focused on “Off-Label Plus” meaning to reduce or minimize false statements, or kickback incentives that would cause serious risk to patients.  In many cases some patients that have no other choice get treated with drugs that were originally intended and approved for a completely different use “without FDA approval!”

The individual drug companies run these off-label research programs in a research setting funded by our government and “more than it should!”  This creates quite a lengthy mess during off-label prosecutions.  Research programs are causing our government to pay for more uses of drugs than it should through numerous individual Medicaid State agencies.  This off-label product-to-market channel is creating a complicated medical lawsuit nightmare for all parties involved.

There are literally multiple-billion dollar; multi-national Companies with millions of “Off-Label Plus” claims throughout our nation.  In lawsuits, a heavy emphasis in the decision making process appears to be “patient harm versus patient benefit.”  Another major consideration in lawsuit cases is if research and development centers, physicians and/or sales reps have mislead the public trust, or the FDA in any serious way.  While in many other cases, if the off-label process were to be put to a halt, many patients may lose their life, while at the same time many lives may be saved. http://www.policymed.com/2010/07/pharmaceutical-marketing-lawsuits-slowing-considerably.html

Recommendation:  If you are taking any prescription drugs, and especially if that drug is one of the 41 class action lawsuits drugs found at the link I’ve provided above…  Learn all you can about the drug(s) and lawsuits, talk to your doctor and determine if there are better alternatives out there.  All too often, many of us tend to continue taking the same drugs for many years without physician follow up consultation to determine if health risk outweighs the benefits of using any particular, or combination of pharmaceuticals (annual physician consultations are a “good” ideal).  And through time, health condition, prescription formulation, dosages, may require prescription change; reducing risk while increasing health benefits.

Moderation and medical self-advocacy and due diligence is key in optimizing health benefits while reducing health risk.  This is especially true if you consume “any” product altered, or manufactured by man!

Aspartame the Silent Killer?

25 03 2008

In our March 08 monthly health newsletter, “Looking at yourself.  Got Health?”  You read our editorial “Aspartame and Shocking Health Risks,” exposed by Dr. H. J. Roberts.”   If you would like to receive our free monthly health newsletter, visit www.mirrorathlete.com, enter your email address in the subscriber’s box and then you’ll be on our monthly distribution list.

Within the March08 newsletter we learned some key points:  1) Chemical changes within sodas containing Aspartame are poisoning our families.  2) Related symptoms stopped once the patient is off of diet sodas.  3) Aspartame is a common denominator in our diet making us sick!  4)  There is a significant weight gain connection!  5)  Aspartame is extremely bad for diabetics.  6)  There is a direct connection between children with ADD and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).  7)  Children are specifically at risk and susceptible to Aspartame poisoning.  8)  Monsanto’s patent on Aspartame has expired, now there are over 5,000 products on the shelves containing aspartame; marketed as NutraSweet, Equal and Spoonful.  Uninformed parents are unknowingly poisoning their loved ones.  The American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians know about this connection, also endorsed by the U.S. FDA!  “It’s all about the money and corporate greed!”

There is much information to further substantiate this outrageous chemical food additive practice, but we only have room to scratch the surface.  E.g., Victoria Inness-Brown’s family was addicted to diet sodas… “Concerned aspartame would one day lead to her family’s illness or even early death, she performed an aspartame experiment.  Starting with 108 rats for 2 years and 8 months, daily, she feed a controlled group of rats two-thirds the aspartame contained in an 8-oz diet soda.  Results:  Thirty seven percent of the female rats developed tumors, some of massive size.  Folks this a study where doses per rat weight is adjusted, using under Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI), set by the FDA! “The fact that aspartame is endorsed by the U.S. FDA as a safe product, and is recommended by many doctors as a sweet alternative in lieu of sugar is enough to make you go mad.”  Also, consider these facts, 1) “Does it make sense that what was once listed by the Pentagon as a biochemical warfare agent is now an integral part of your modern diet?” 2)  “Aspartame is profitable… E.g., Maryland-based biotech company Genex Corp., went from reporting $14.3m in 1985 revenues to $2.8m in 1986 after they lost their aspartame business.”  3)  “One 12 oz diet soda contains about 180mg of aspartame/15mg per oz, which equals approximately 4.5 packets of NutraSweet.”  4) The propaganda industry-machine tells consumers the ADI, set by the FDA equates to about 20, 12oz-diet soda for adults, or 6 for children is safe and acceptable (www.mercola.com).”    If the rats get sick consuming far under ADI, why wouldn’t we?”  Friends, it’s simple, “It’s all about the money!”

Recommendations:  Do not consume aspartame, or products marketed under the following brands:  NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, Equal-Measure and Canderel. Aspartame can be found in more than 5,000 products including, but not limited to:  Diet sodas, juice drinks, flavored waters, chewing gum, table-top sweeteners, diet and diabetic foods, breakfast cereals, such as Fiber One, fiber supplements, such as orange flavored Metamucil, jams, and sweets.

Alzheimer's Disease and Aluminum a Major Contributor?

14 01 2008

Why is Alzheimer’s disease the 4th leading cause of death among our elderly, only behind heart disease, cancer and stroke?  The World Health Organization to include many other research teams has determined there’s an overwhelming correlation with chemical pollution and the elderly.  Research strongly suggests the common denominator to Alzheimer’s disease is aluminum.  Aluminum happens to be the 3d most common element we are exposed to in our environment on a daily basis.  Some consumers are more exposed and susceptible to aluminum, or have no knowledge of the potential health risk through exposure.  This simply is due to the unknown properties of aluminum and how it is being introduced into our food chain and everyday use products.  Autopsies have found high concentrations of aluminum in the brain matter of deceased Alzheimer’s patients.  Studies show us you are 3 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s through the use of arousal anti-perspirants containing aluminum.  Also, municipal water that is treated with alum (aluminum sulfate).  Both entrants into the body are absorbed easily through consumption and may be easily absorbed by the brain through the nasal cavity (Public health reports, Natural health, University of California, Berkeley Wellness Letter).

Concerned about metal particulates from frying pans where the tephlon stick surface has become scratched and aluminum exposed, I immediately began my kitchen inspection.  “Off topic, it’s a noteworthy thought to keep in the back of your head…manufacturers of tephlon (M3 and Dupont research) show no conclusive proof that tephon puts your health at risk.”  However, there is much research suggesting when you get into varying chemical sealant composites to bind-bond-seal the aluminum or copper cookware as “THE” protective “HEAT” barrier, this may present other known & unknown health risks.  With regard to local municipalities, how does one find out “how much” alum “aluminum” is added to our water?  And why is this necessary?   The amount necessary to reduce algae and turbidity creating crystal clear drinking water from our city utilities dictates the amount of aluminum sulfate required.  If you drink city water, you are ingesting alum.  Due to the unanswered link between Alzheimer’s and aluminum, (some scientists) are urging the use of ferric sulfate, or calcium sulfate in municipal water as opposed to aluminum sulfate to accomplish the job.

Recommendations:  I personally searched for old home products “deodorants” with the ingredient aluminum contained within the product.  I couldn’t find any, I converted my entire home over to clean green household products that can be found at my website.  The medical research correlation between Alzheimer’s disease and aluminum is so convincing a prudent person would remove “all” product and cooking utensils (pots and pans), cosmetics, to include aerosols made of, or containing aluminum. If you see the word alum (aluminum), seriously consider removing the product from your home.  Off Topic, but relevant [in general], if “ANY” product has the words, “KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN” WHY?  If the product is not good for your children, it certainly can’t be good for you.  If you drink beverages made from aluminum cans, I highly recommend you switch to bottles.  I’m not sure how to advice you with the drinking water…there are far too many variable pertaining to concentration.  Contact your local municipality and ask about aluminum sulfate in your drinking water you decide…is bottled water any better?  We’ll cover this issue as a future topic.
